Synopsis: Madoka and Hoshi meet again. Once more, within the hospital, but this time neither are hurt. They talk a little about why they're there and what they want to do later.
Cast of Characters: Hoshi Kogane, Madoka Kaname

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
A couple hours per week, usually sundays, Hoshi Kogane gets to do some basic volunteering in the hospital. Of course, with school being off she gets a second session of helping out. She hasn't yet ran into the person who inspired her to take on this side project, schedules apparently never matching.

Today that's about to change, the girl is in the break room getting ready to do the simple tasks assigned to her; usually just bringing food to patients in regular care.
Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka has been volunteering a fair amount, but when the hospital in question is a skyscraper with over 150 floors there's no telling exactly where she'll be at any one time. The locker room and the various break rooms, however, are much fewer and further between than the actual hospital rooms where she spends time with and helps patients however she can.

As Hoshi gets ready to do the assignments offered to her Madoka wanders into the break room looking tired but happy in her pastel pink volunteer scrubs. She lets out a relaxed sigh once safely inside the room where only hospital staff are supposed to be, going over and getting herself a cup of water.

It's pretty hard to miss the young girl in here as well, and it takes the pink-haired Puella a few moments to recognize her. She sets her cup down on a small table, "Ah, Kogane-chan! That uniform- did you decide to help out after all?" The bright smile she offers the blonde girl puts her approval on full display.
Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Kaname-san!" Hoshi says cheerfully, and nods. "Yes, I did. I don't get to do it very much, but I come as much as they'll let me~" It's not entirely impossible that the amount they let her has been boosted by her father's pockets, but if so, this is not something she is aware of. "I've been doing it for a few weeks now, as soon as we got everything worked out."
Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka smiles to the girl, "Good job! I'm sure the patients will be happy to have you around." She giggles softly when she mentions the restrictions on volunteering, "They wouldn't want you to spend so much time here that you didn't do your schoolwork. You'll get to come more often once you get a little older too, I'm sure." She looks upwards and taps her chin a little, "I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was based on whether you're in Elementary, Middle, or High School."

She turns her pink eyes to the other girl again, "Though I wonder if you're the first Elementary school student to volunteer here. That'd be a neat accomplishment!" After another drink of her water Madoka considers the shorter girl for a moment before asking, "Now that we're coworkers of a kind would you mind if I called you by your first name, Kogane-chan?" She remembers offering the girl to use her own given name when they first met to no avail.
Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"If you want to, you should feel free, Kaname-san." Whether she means to or not, Hoshi's usage of Madoka's surname sends a distinct message there. Considering her background, it's unlikely she's unaware that it could be read that way. 'I don't think using first names is appropriate.'

"You might be right, I'm sure they try to avoid getting us into heavy schedules while we're still young. I could stand up for myself and say it's too much when I think it is, but not everyone is that confident." Hoshi picks up her immediate list of tasks and starts reading over them. "Huhhh... If I am the first that would look good on my resume later, wouldn't it?"
Madoka Kaname has posed:
"Okay, then! Thank you, Hoshi-chan." Madoka is almost uncomfortable using last names with people her own age and generally doesn't unless she has a good reason. This was always the case, but got even more pronounced after she moved to America where referring to someone by their last name in school was very abnormal. She might be annoying the young upper class girl by using her first name, but it's something Madoka is willing to risk for the sake of being more friendly.

"They might give you more after a little while once you show you can handle it, too- I'm not really sure though. I was already volunteering for a few years before I moved back to Tokyo so I knew what I was getting myself into." She then lifts a hand to her mouth and giggles, "Volunteering at all will look good on your resume, but being a pioneer as well shouldn't hurt!"
Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"I don't think I've told you what I want to be when I grow up. Have I?" Hoshi asks softly, glossing over the entire name thing after this point. She's not going to be rude enough to push the matter right after giving some form of permission.

"I'm planning to become the first female Prime Minister of Japan." A lofty goal to be sure, though one that is quite outside her control. At least starting young gives one direction. "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Madoka Kaname has posed:
A soft shake of her head is given and the pink-haired girl tilts her head again as the blonde girl seems about to tell her something important. Considering she's volunteering at a hospital and has some healing powers Madoka is expecting something like 'a doctor'. So when Hoshi goes and tells her she wants the highest position in the land she blinks a couple of times before giving a very bright smile to the girl, "That's a very big goal; no wonder you're worried about your resume! I'm impressed, Hoshi-chan. If you're really serious about it and you're willing to work this hard I'm sure you'll make it!"

Unless, that is, another woman is elected to the office before she's old enough for it herself, but Madoka isn't about to put forward anything that might seem pessimistic. No, she's going to be nothing but supportive, especially when the girl seems so serious about it. "I'm proud of you for looking so far forward. If there's anything I can do to help you on your way let me know!" Not that she expects there to be much she can do- politics isn't the sort of thing she's used to, though she does go to a fair number of charity events.

When asked what she wants to do Madoka laughs a bit nervously in the face of such a fearsome goal. "To be honest, I haven't really thought about it all that much." Her head turns this way and that, making sure there isn't anyone else in the vicinity to hear, "I'm not so much sure what I want to be, except that I want to help people. I think maybe being a Magical Girl is the best way for me to help the most people." She makes a soft hum, "As for a job... well, my girlfriend was thinking of starting up her own business and I'm going to try and help! If it's successful I imagine I'll keep doing that."
Hoshi Kogane has posed:
It's not like Hoshi has not considered the possibility of that happening, it's just that based upon what she heard, people are expecting the first female prime minister of Japan to be happening for a while yet, so she's got a shot.

"That's really nice of you. I'm sure it'll be wonderful." Hoshi smiles brightly, seeming to think it's a nice idea. "And, well... helping people is why I want to become Prime Minister. As a magical girl I can help with all kinds of magical problems, but it doesn't do much good against poverty."
Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka's smile returns, and rather just giving a brighter one Hoshi is treated to one of her kinder, gentler smiles. "That's a wonderful way of thinking. If you really care about helping other people so much I'm sure you'd make a wonderful Prime Minister. You're right, too, there's a lot of things we can do as magical heroes, but something like that... you could help out the whole country! And maybe even more. There's no telling just how much you could do, especially if you have so much time to get ready for it and find out good ways to help once you're there."
Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"That's what I mean, yeah." Hoshi looks at her schedule of tasks, and at the door. "It was lovely talking to you again, Kaname-san, but I'd better get to this or else I'll never finish all of this. I hope to meet you again soon."
Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka lifts her hand and gives a friendly wave, "It was nice talking to you again too, Hoshi-chan. Go out there and make us proud!" She has not a single worry that the girl will do a wonderful job cheering up the patients. Just seeing someone so young and earnest doing their best to help will itself do a lot to make people happy.
