Location: The AM/PM Mini Market
Synopsis: Kyubey, ever-helpful, delivers a warning to Kyouko. A very vague one.
Cast of Characters: 119, Kyouko Sakura

Kyubey has posed:
As Kyouko finishes up with the only customer in the conbenie, she can hear the sound of the slushie machine running. And it doesn't stop, for a while - necessating that she come over and check to make sure it's not just pouring apple slushie (of course it's apple, Kyouko lobbied for apple) on the floor.

What she finds when she gets there, though, is a familiar fluffy white creature with red eyes sitting atop the machine, drinking said apple slushie. With abandon.

Kyubey turns to Kyouko. "Oh, I didn't realize you'd finished up. I wanted to come over sooner, but I presumed you didn't want to be seen as the crazy girl who talks to herself, and normal people can't see me." he says, his tail swishing a bit. As he sits where the cups go in the slushie machine. Like this is normal or something.
Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Kyouko smiles her best smile, keeping fang in check, as the lady exits the store. "Please come again!" She calls in a sing-song voice which is very unlike her normal rough way of talking. It takes her a moment to identify the sound of the slushie machine, but when she does her brows draw together and she leaves the counter to investigate.

Her expression darkens at the sight of Kyubey sitting there guzzling apple-flavored slush. She doesn't harbor the antipathy towards him that Homura does, but she's not overly fond of the little fuzzball either.. especially when he's stealing from her store. "I hope you're going to pay for that." She comments, scowling.

Then she sighs, knowing that of course he won't, reaching over his head to turn the machine off before any more of the stuff vanishes into his fathomless maw. "What do you want, Kyubey? I was hopin' you'd just decided to leave me alone, finally."
Kyubey has posed:
Kyubey doesn't smile, and really, his body language doesn't change either, which means his tone is the only way of figuring out how he intends things. "I'm sure you've paid for every peiece of food you've ever eaten from a store?" he says, sarcastically.

"I can't just leave you alone, Kyouko Sakura. You're still a Puella Magi, and that means you're still my charge. And you're, to be quite honest, very interesting on the whole, with the experiences you've had. You're unique, and I say this with a lot more experience than you can possibly imagine." he says.

"Just because you don't see me all the time, doesn't mean I'm leaving you alone. It doesn't mean I'm not still watching!" he says, his head bouncing and his ears doing the same, which would probably be more adorable if he hadn't just told her he was basically Homura'ing her.

"It's just there's not often in which I think it would be necessary or productive to spend time talking to you. But sometimes I think we have mutual interests and can help each other out."
Kyouko Sakura has posed:
"This is different." Kyouko says, without a hint of shame. "Cuz this time, it's my store. So watch your paws if you dun wan' 'em chopped off." She says this with a faint smirk, but knowing Kyouko there's room for doubt as to whether or not this is an idle threat.

She rolls her eyes a little bit at all of Kyubey's talk about uniqueness and 'always watching'. "You're kinda creepy, you know that? Listen, I been a lotta things in my life, but 'unique' seldom seems to be a positive one, so. How 'bout we just say I've had a broad range of experiences and leave it at that. Sounds better that way."

"What do you want? I'm doin' the job, ain't I? Killin' Witches. I ain't about to turn into one anytime soon, so if you're lookin' to try and nudge me over the edge or whatever, sorry, ain't gonna happen." She crosses her arms and frowns. "As far as I know, those are your only two interests. So what else is there?"
Kyubey has posed:
"You proabably know by now that's not really much of a threat, to me." he says, tail flitting back and forth. "I've been told that - I suppose it'd be easier if I had an understanding of what it's like to... feel as though something was creepy?" he says, looking at her. "A broad range of experiences, some of which are unique to you. Is that a little better?"

"Well, I admit, there's a crossover with those interests. In that it's hard to have Puella Magi continue to hunt and become witches on Earth if there's no Earth left. In fact, the dimension itself is rather important to my plans, so it'd be nice to not have it destroyed. And, well... as far as I can tell, even you, Kyouko Sakura, require this dimension to remain intact. And Sayaka Miki probably does, as well. So I do believe there's some crossover in our goals - in that we'd both like this universe to continue to operate as it does now."
Kyouko Sakura has posed:
"Doesn't make it any less fun." Kyouko mutters, in reference to Kyubey not being threatened by having his limbs removed. She shrugs her shoulders, still wearing a slight frown, as he outlines the rest of his point regarding shared goals.

"Fair enough, although I have a feeling if Earth did end up gettin' destroyed you'd just move on to bother some other planet." She sighs, tapping one sneakered foot against the floor. "Alright, alright, I get it- you don't want the world destroyed. Is that what you're gettin' at here? That there's some kinda big threat that's gonna destroy the world?"

She actually seems vaugely hopeful. The lack of world-destroying threats recently had been starting to eat away at her- she's not the type to really believe the world will ever stop trying to kill her, and when it seems to she starts checking the shadows for hidden knives.
Kyubey has posed:
"The fact that you would find violence fun does fall within my expected parameters for you." he says, casually. Another tailflick.

"There is, believe it or not, only a finite number of planets in the universe with the proper value to the Incubators as Earth. It would be too great an operational loss to lose Earth." At least, not without a massive influx of energy to offset. "Plus, there's no telling the problem in question would remain contained to even this solar system."

"You see, even magically aware humans really have no idea how delicate the balance between existence and destruction is, compared to the magnitude of the universe. It's easy to take for granted, and maybe hard to understand that... well, there could be a book that in the wrong hands could tear a hole in this reality, and unleash things which have a sole purpose to destroy it." he says, finally hopping off the slushie fountain and onto a shelf near Kyouko.

"The fact of it all is that often it's things like one little book in the wrong hand that can bring down planets or even galaxies."
Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Kyouko shoots a look at Kyubey which seems to indicate that she's not sure if his comment about her penchant for enjoying violence is an insult or a compliment. "That so." Is her dry response to the comment about the finite worlds with sufficiently tearful teenage girls in the universe.

"Look, I ain't ever been one for readin' much, but it seems to me that somebody would have had to be pretty dumb to write a book like that in the first place. Are you tellin' me that not only they wrote it, but now they're lendin' it out like some kinda armageddon library?"

Her scowl turns a little more fierce. "Cause if that's the case I would certainly be obliged to pay 'em a visit and levy the world's first late fee against the librarian instead of the borrower." She pauses, thinking about it. "And then kill the borrower too."
Kyubey has posed:
Kyubey tilts his head. "Well, like many things, it doesn't have to be used for dangerous purposes. It's just likely. Even I'm not sure who wrote it - it's ancient - possibly written when my race was just begining to travel the stars." he says, rubbing his face against one of the edges of the shelves like a cat. "I think the librarian, in this case, is long gone."

"It had been in the care of one of the large human organizations here - though I think you might consider them unscrupulous - but they at least understood the danger. It was stolen by a magical girl, though. Not a Puella Magi, but some other kind. And now she's being protected by the organization called Virtue - I think some of your friends are a part of it. And yet..."

"Virtue doesn't understand just what they're protecting. And the girl doesn't understand the danger of what she's wielding. Can't understand, really. She thinks it can solve her problem. Which I suppose is true, but only in the sense that if she does what she's planning, she's going to solve all of everyone's problems by making them not exist."
Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Kyouko listens to all of this discourse with a faint frown on her face. She doesn't trust Kyubey- she doesn't really trust very many people at all. That being the case, she's wary of taking what he tells her at face value. Then again, it's also in the 'too dangerous to ignore' category, which is unfortunatel.

"I know a lotta people in Virtue, and most of 'em are pretty okay." Kyouko says generously, "but it's true that they tend to err on the side of bein' goody-two-shoes instead of the side of doing what's smart, so I could see somethin' like that happening."

She sighs. "Alright, I'll ask around about it. If what you're sayin' is true it's probably worth my time to go save the world /again/, although it'll have to be after 10 cuz I'm closing tonight."
Kyubey has posed:
Kyubey nods. "I'm going to try to see if I can get close enough to Homura Akemi to warn her about this without having the spend a few shells." he says, referring to his various 'bodies'. "It might be easier to go through Madoka Kaname, but I can't imagine that not making her even more wary. But the more help we can get on this, the better."

Kyubey tilts his head. "I see you're very invested in trying to make a little bit of a normal life, Kyouko Sakura." He doesn't actually offer an opinion on that observation. "I do believe that's what they're doing - allowing their emotions to guide them to a dangerous place." he says, hopping down and heading for the door. He turns back to look at Kyouko. "It's a very human thing to do, to be lead around by one's emotions."
Kyouko Sakura has posed:
"I'll talk to Homura. At least pass the word." Kyouko says, with a bit of a sigh. "She an' I have been gettin' on a little better lately. At least she won't try to shoot me on sight, though once she learns where I got the info from she's as likely not to listen." A lift of her shoulders as she watches Kyubey hop down and start to head for the door.

Her mouth turns up at one corner at his words about trying to make a normal life. "Well.. what's the good in tryin' to save the world if you don't get to live in it?" She says, with a little chuckle. "Turns out it's more rewardin' to stop this kinda crap when you've got something to come home to afterwards." She turns herselff to head back towards the counter. "I guess I should say thanks for the heads up, though I have a feelin' I'll be wishing I hadn't heard from you before this is done."
Kyubey has posed:
Kyubey shakes his head, to the point where his ears drag on the floor. "Kyouko Sakura, I thought you would have learned about the danger of wishing for things." he says, his attempt at 'humor' before he walks out the automatic doors to the outside world.
