Ayana has posed:
It's nearly after dinner. Do you know where your girlfriend is? Actually, she's not hard to find. Although it's late, and there are probably monsters out, Ayana is stuck seated at the little desk in the room she shares with Ikiko, an unhappy expression on her face as she leans over the a textbook.

Although neither girl had school today (thus explaining Ayana's decision for shorts and a tanktop), that doesn't mean there isn't school work to do. After dinner, Ayana came upstairs to do her homework while Ikiko did dishes.

She's still there now, ears flattened backwards along her head, eyes intently focused on the book, and tails lashing angrily.

Suddenly, she picks up the book, screams angrily, and throws it into the wall, where it lands with a loud thump.

"Stupid chemistry!" she yells angrily, then kicks the desk, before leaning back in the chair until it starts to tip over. There, she sighs, arms over her head, stretched to the point that her shirt is lifting up past her belly button. "Science sucks."
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata steps over and kisses the angry kitsune on the forehead. "Chemistry's one of those where the teacher occasionally shows off something neat, but most of the time it's boring bookwork, isn't it?" she asks, rubbing Ayana's ears. Her own studying was going okay, although hers was for literature, and she had been reading in preparation for a book report.
Ayana has posed:
Ayana blinks at the sudden appearance of Ikiko, and her ears fold widely to either side. "Yeah, I guess," she mumbles, wrinkling her nose. "I just don't understand it. You're gonna have to do it next year, so you'll probably get it. Maybe I'll have to repeat seventh grade again, and then you can tutor me on it." The kitsune wrinkles her nose, then leans forward again, pushes out of the chair, and grabs her textbook.

"Why do I even need to know this stupid stuff?" asks Ayana grumpily as she pulls the book back open to the right page. "It's not like I'm going to be a scientist when I grow up. And besides, I could just be a grown up, and then who would know? I don't understand why chemistry is important."
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"I think they want people to have a basic understanding of how the world works," Ikiko shrugs. "At least, that's my best guess."
Ayana has posed:
"Well I don't care how the world works," Ayana whines, sighing as she pokes at the book. "Who cares how many plus thingies there are on Tel--tel--tel-lurium?" she squints at the book, then sighs.

"I just don't see what I get out of it," Ayana mumbles. "I'm not gonna need this ever. I'm gonna just be with you, and you're going to be a a brilliant animal doctor or something, and I will make sure your house is clean and there is delicious dinenrs on the table. Can I just ... start doing those things now, and not go to school?"
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata sighs and looks out the window. She recalled how her teacher last year had a very good response to another student's question about why they should learn these kinds of things, but she can't remember it right now.

After a few moments of thoughtful silence, she turns back towards Ayana. "Would it help... if you had some sort of reward to look forward to for doing well in your classes?" Ikiko finally asks.
Ayana has posed:
Ayana's ears perk up just a little at the idea, and she turns to peer at Ikiko. Tilting her head, the Kitsune looks uncertain for several moments, then frowns in thought. "What kinna reward?" she asks, tentatively. It's a start, at least.
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"Hadn't gotten that far," Ikiko admits with a small shrug. "Something that you enjoy, at least. And that won't be too hard to have available, yet still be something that feels special."
Ayana has posed:
For a few moments, the Kitsune considers this idea, but she doesn't respond right away. Instead, she looks back at her textook, frowns, then taps her foot on the floor in thought. "Maybe ..." she suggests thoughtfully. "Mmmmm. Maybe if I do my homework, I get kisses? I like kisses, and those are special."
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata thinks for a moment, then nods with a smile. "Kisses sound great!" she agrees. The fact that she also enjoys them has nothing to do with agreeing with this, oh no.

Another thought crosses her mind. "Maybe I should give you an extra reward if you do well on your tests, too?" she suggests.
Ayana has posed:
"Extra reward?" Ayana asks, eyes widening a little. Then she bites her lip in thought, before turning around to the book. "I have a test coming up on Friday. How good do I have to do to get an extra reward?" Because if kisses are for getting homework done ...

"Also, I guess I should finish my science homework now," Ayana says, "because I definitely want a kiss. Speaking of, did you do your homework yet?"
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"How about... scoring 85% or better?" Ikiko offers after thinking for a moment. "Basically, doing notably better than just passing -- although I'll definitely give you some kisses just for passing."

She looks over at her book. "Been working on the reading for the book report," Ikiko sighs. "It's not a bad book, but it's been somewhat tedious. At least I've already finished the homework that's due tomorrow -- actually writing the book report can wait for tomorrow!"
Ayana has posed:
Ayana's ears perk up at the promise of kisses for passing her test. She's relatively certain an 85% is not a grade she's capable of, but she's going to do her best anyways. "Well, when you have finished your book report I will give you kisses," she promises, as she leans over her own homework.

For a few minutes she falls silent, frowns, and begins writing things down. "Do you know the periodic table?" she asks curiously. "No, I guess you probably don't. You won't learn it until next year. Um." Pause. "Oh, Sora-chan probably knows it, but I don't think I should ask her to check my work. Ugh. How do I know if I'm doing it right?"
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"Sounds good!" Ikiko beams at the offer of kisses. She picks her book back up and resumes reading; if she pushes it, she might be able to get it done tonight! Or at least get a rough draft in place.

She looks up at Ayana's question, then gives an apologetic shrug. "I'm not sure? If it's a math thing, then it'd probably be a case of checking the calculations; but if it's specific to the periodic table, then I'm not sure what would help. Maybe dad knows something?"
Ayana has posed:
"I'm good at math," Ayana protests unhappily. She glances back at her homework uncertainly, then huffs and picks up the book and the paper both. "I'll be back in like five minutes," she says as she storms out of the room. Then she pokes her head back in, "And if I did it right, I get kisses when I'm back," she says smugly, then runs away again.
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"Sounds good!" Ikiko calls after Ayana, then redoubles her focus on the book. Okay, that character has that particular motivation, and this one item keeps on being refered to as a theme...
Ayana has posed:
Ayana is away for more than five minutes. There's some whiny shouting. A few stern words. Then silence for a few more minutes. Eventually, though, the door opens, and the foxgirl bounds in looking determined. She drops her book on the table, then holds up a piece of paper to Ikiko triumphantly.

"Dad said I got a lot of them wrong," she explains, "But he helped me fix them, and I think I know why I got em wrong! At least I can turn it in now. Do I get kisses?"
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata looks up with a smile. "Well, you had to get them corrected, but you did get them done," she admits, putting her book aside. "So I think you've earned a couple of small kisses."

The younger girl stands up and hugs the kitsune, giving Ayana two quick kisses, one on each corner of the mouth. "That was to settle what you declared when you went to check them," Ikiko explains, still hugging the foxgirl.

She then gives Ayana a very tender and loving kiss. "And that... was for finishing your homework," Ikiko adds with a gentle smile when the kiss finally ends.
Ayana has posed:
"Couple of small kisses?" Ayana replies, sounding a little hurt at the idea. She looks even more hurt when all she gets are a pair of small kisses on either side of her lips.

And then Ikiko gives her the much deeper kiss, and all of Ayana's disappointment melts away as she returns the kiss in kind. The kitsune closes her eyes and leans on Ikiko, wrapping her arms around her girlfriend until the kiss ends. When it does, she puts her forehead against Ikiko's and mumbles, "I like your kisses. They make me feel special."
Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"You are special, my beloved," Ikiko murmurs back, nuzzling Ayana's nose. "And I know you can beat any challenge that you put your mind to. This just gives you a bit of... incentive to make school one of the challenges that you take on. Think you're up for it?"
Ayana has posed:
Ayana opens her eyes and peers at Ikiko worriedly. "I'll try," she says quietly, "but ... Riventon-kun did not make me to be smart. Just clever. Still, I'll do my very best. I'll study really hard every night, and make sure that when I do my test this Friday I get an extra reward. And if I only manage to pass, then um. Then I'll just have to study even harder." The possibility of failing this test doesn't even cross her mind. There are kisses on the line!
