Date of Scene: | 20 June 2016 |
Location: | Somewhere in Tokyo |
Synopsis: | Nagihiko and Tadase have some fences to mend. And by 'mend', we mean pretty much 'knock down.' |
Cast of Characters: | Nadeshiko Fujisaki, Tadase Hotori |
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Nagihiko takes a deep breath in through the nose. "Tell me again why I should do this?"
"You miss him." Temari says.
"And?"
"And he's been your best friend for years. Forever."
"Okay, yeah, but--"
There's mirroring glints in both sets of eyes.
"AND DAMMIT THAT JERK WILL BE MY BEST FRIEND AGAIN EVEN IF I HAVE TO BEAT HIM UP!"
Temari has Nagihiko about halfway to Tadase's house before he's able to get control again.
Of course, people are pressed against walls and trying to get away from the scary lady running around while brandishing a naginata...
He clears his throat and places a delicate hand against his brow.
Demure, he flutters his eyelashes to the crowd. "Low blood sugar."
Finally, he's running again.
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase had been trying to do homework.
It's really hard to do homework when a tiny king is kicking your hand. Your pencil. Your head. "What?!" Tadase finally shouted so loud he had to apologize for making such a racket.
"It's not like you to delay when there's something you want." Kiseki says. "Even if I don't agree with your feelings, I know what they are, and I also don't agree with you hiding away from them. So lets go see him."
Tadase turned to his homework and began to scribble. "He's probably still mad. He deserves to be." he says, and then Kiseki is kicking his hand again.
"So what? You gonna let him be mad forever?" he asks. "The only way you're gonna change it is to go and act on your feelings. Come on, lets go." Kiseki says, grabbing tadase's sleeve and throwing it over his shoulder, trying to fly forward as if nobody told him that there's a massive size and weight class difference. He doesn't get very far, but he DOES make Tadase laugh.
"Fine, fine, you're right. I've really been putting it off too long." Tadase says, closing his books, slipping on his shoes, and walking out in the direction of Nagi's house.
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
He finally slows enough to catch his breath. "You know, maybe this can wait for another day. Afterall, he's probably busy with...stuff."
Temari clears her throat.
"Ug, fine, but at least let me walk. I'm still worn out from basketball practice."
It's not very long until their paths cross. Nagihiko's on one side of the road, Tadase on the other. For a minute, the purple haired boy just stands for a moment.
He rubs the back of his neck...
Another tiny throat clearing.
Nagihiko rolls his eyes, because yeah, that would end well.
"Oye! Tadase!" Look, he's waving!
And Temari's braving the empty road to float over and hug Kiseki.
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Kiseki, of course, is the one who's going to commit to any course of action Tadase takes. Especially if, like today, he thinks the action is a good idea too and is just too prideful to admit it. Anytime Tadase slows down or tries to look away there's a tug at his hair, at his shirt, urging him forward.
And when Nagi waves and the other small chara is already floating through the air, it's Kiseki who's meeting her long before Tadase and Nagi do. The two charas meet and hug in the air, but the two boys may take longer.
"Na-chan!" Tadase says, loudly and excitedly. He can't hide that. But he does quickly become a little bit more calm, hands behind his back and walking forward. "I mean uh... Hi, Nagihiko-san?" he says, the question coming at the end of the word, like he's not sure that he should be addressing him as that.
It has nothing to do with Nagihiko's unique circumstances and more to do with the fact that Tadase blames himself for the distance put between them.
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Temari doesn't 'gossip' to Kiseki. That would be unladylike!
But she does tell him news! About Nagihiko's dancing! And Kukai! And basketball! And Kukai!
Fortunately for his cheeks, Nagihiko isn't paying much attention. Otherwise said cheeks would probably burn away.
There's a shift and a click as something falls back in place at Tadase's initial excited reaction and a nickname he really hasn't heard in too long.
Any ability to play it cool only lasts until he's actually reaches Tadase.
His eyes are stinging, shut up, and he socks the other boy, hard, in the shoulder before pulling him in for an even harder hug.
"How did I get such a dumbass for a king?"
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
The noise that Tadase makes on the shoulder hit is different than the distinct suprised "ULP!" he makes when Nagihiko hugs him. It's both something he expected and didn't expect, and that hug soon has Tadase just as involved, squeezing him tight.
"I don't know, maybe it comes with the territory." Tadase says, laughing. "Being a dumbass - that's why kings have advisors and vizeers and stuff."
..."So..." he asks after a moment, after the hug, after the initial connection. "...is Na-chan okay, or is there another nickname you'd prefer, or another name, or?" it's obvious Tadase isn't sure what he should and shouldn't do, but what he doesn't want to do for sure is make his friend uncomfortable.
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
"Yeah, well, it helps if your advisors and vizeers and stuff get their head out of their own ass at times..."
Yes. That's an apology, too.
After they're pulled back, his hands are stuffed in his pocket. After all, awkward situation is still awkward.
He does, however, arc an amused eyebrow. "I've always been fine with Na-chan." He shrugs and looks very much Not At Tadase. "Besides." Mumble. "Kinda missed it. Maybe."
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase laughs a little. "So..." he begins, getting to the bottom of it as he often does - good at helping others means sometimes he's even good at helping himself "...we both agree that we both made mistakes, and we're both sorry, but we're both going to get past it now and go back to the way things where?" Tadase asks, hopefully.
"Because I've missed having you around and calling you that. And besides you were always kinda my cheatsheet on how to react to some things..." he admits with a smile and maybe even a mischevious glint in his eye. "You understand things in ways I was always so impressed by."
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Nagihiko blinks for a moment before tilting his head and smiling. "If not there, then better."
Another sock to the shoulder! "Though if you're a dumbass again, I get to do that. And I'd be mad if you didn't to me in return."
And then he laughs, and it's bright. "Ohhh, Tadase-kun. I'm afraid we're entering things as the blind leading the blind." A wink, though! "But that just means we have each other to keep ourselves in line."
And then his expression turns pensive. "I just..." He sighs and scuffs his foot against the side walk. "I wouldn't, you know. Risk a definite for a maybe."
His cheeks are pink as he turns to look away again. "Besdies. Kukai's a better kisser than you are."
He's really glad it's not raining, otherwise steam would raise from his face!
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase finally finds thew right answer in this circumstance, and gives Nagihiko a corresponding shoulder-punch. "You'd better believe that. Someone has to keep you in line, and I don't trust Kukai to do it. He's too easy going. That's why he's Jack's chair, not King!" he says with a grin.
And then Nagihiko is talking more, and Tadase might not be the quickest one on the uptake for these sort of things, but since he was already talking about Kukai, there's fewer mental bridges to make all of the right connections.
"Well, he's so hypercompetitve, maybe I just didn't try real hard so he wouldn't feel bad." he says, winking. "...but it's entirely possible he's better at kissing Na-chan and I'm better at kissing Amu-chan." he says, and now it's Tadase's turn to find the ground VERY INTERESTING YES.
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Nagihiko snorts and turns his nose in the air. "I'm the line keeper there, thank you very much." His eyes turn sly. "Which is probably why we're both doomed."
More burning cheeks! Ground, why won't you swallow them!
"I think we can go with that." He clears his throat. "Yes, best kissing partners have been matched."
Nagihiko very much needs a topic change before he implodes. Or spontaneously combusts. Or...
Is it possible to do both?
Suddenly, he claps his hands together. "SO! Wanna go...kill things in video games? Or...is that one movie still out? With the American superheroes doing stuff that we do on a daily basis?"
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase smirks a bit. "Yes, I know the feeling." he mumbles out about being doomed. The ground doesn't acquisece to either of their desires. Which leaves them there to sort it out between the two of them.
Or a topic change! A glorious topic change! "Lets go to the Crown and waste a whole lot of quarters. Nobody's as good a co-op partner as you Na-chan, not even Kukai. Guess real life skills don't always translate." he says with a grin. "Besides, I hear some girl with blue hair beat our top score! We can't have that!" he says. And for once, Tadase is the one taking Nagihiko by the hand and dragging him off.
- Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Good! Latch onto this new source of information! "What?! But that took us all of last summer to do! This won't stand!"
Pretty soon it's hard to tell who is dragging who.
