Synopsis: Nadeshiko meets Ami, over video game competition. ... Rhythm is a fan!
Cast of Characters: Nadeshiko Fujisaki, Ami Mizuno

Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
It hasn't been all that common recently that Nagihiko would venture out as Nadeshiko. Especially not just to be Nadeshiko.

But here she is, having done a quick wardrobe change, and in the mood to see if she could reclaim the high scores she and Tadase spent ages last summer getting.

A thank you and a wave to the guy who made her milksh---wait, ice cream smoothie? ...okay.

A thank you and a wave to the guy who made her ice cream smoothie and she's trolling for her favorite game. And not just her favorite game, but her favorite cabinet. Third row, second one in.

There's someone there...shorter than she is with short blue hair.

Casually, Nadeshiko delicately sips at her milksha--ice cream smoo--screw it it's a frikkin milkshake--and watches.

Temari sits perched on her shoulder while Rhythm is more bold and hovers just behind the blunette's.

When she's finished, and as she's inputting initials, Nadeshiko archs an eyebrow.

Rhythm gasps and zooms to the screen, pressing his face against it. He looks up at Nadeshiko with wide eyes!

"Wow she's amazing! Tell her she's amazing! She's almost knocked you and Tadase-kun off the board!"

Temari leans over, curious. "So she's the one."

Nadeshiko...tries hard to ignore her charas. She isn't quite ready to sound like a crazy person talking to herself.

However, she does give a woeful sigh at how few GRDs there are on the top ten now...
Ami Mizuno has posed:
The girl sitting at the cabinet is still dressed in the uniform of a Seishou Middle Schooler. She's got reading glasses on her nose, and a concentrating expression on her face. The screen shows some random place in eastern Asia, but it's the foreground that matters: a small japanese girl with padded leggings and a short skirt, leaping around performing ninjitsu maneuvers on her opponent who is some blonde American.

Ami Mizuno's touch on the buttons and stick is light and confident. Although she's concentrating on the game, it's clear that she doesn't consider it particularly challenging. Ibuki destroys Guile, and Ami boredly puts AMZ in under the fifth place high score. 'AMZ' occupies every position above 5, too.

"Hmmm," she murmurs thoughtfully, then turns to rregard Rhythm, in front of her. "Hi," she says to the little chara. "I appreciate that most can't see you, but I can and you're blocking the screen just a little. You're welcome to watch, butg would you mind moving aside just a little?"
Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Rhythm gapes at Ami for a moment.

"Nevermind, Nadeshiko! She sees me!" The small blue chara zooms up to hug Ami's cheek. "Yay! You're amazing!"

"Rhythm." Despite trying to admonish the chara, there's amusement in her voice. "Please stop hugging random people in the face."

Rhythm does, but only so he can move to Ami's shoulder to watch her play. A small tub of popcorn is pulled out.

Temari's tiny little nose twitches in the air. She shoulder hops and sits beside Rhythm, pulling out two small, chara sized soda cups.

Nadeshiko just sighs. "I'm sorry. I can get them to move if they're bothering you."

Her lips quirk as she eyes the top ten score. "Or maybe I'll get them to crunch in your ear. I may end the day with a score still up there yet."
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami smiles at Rhythm's antics, clearly not bothered. "It's alright," she says honestly as she turns to regard Nadeshiko. "I've not met many of you chara bearers, but I understand the basic concepts fairly well." Ami reaches up to remove her glasses, then introduces herself, "I'm Ami Mizuno."

She glances away from Nadeshiko towards the scores, then asks, "GRD is you?" she asks curiously, looking back. "You're very good. I've been playing most of the afternoon, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you reclaim your spot." Nevermind that the high score is more than double the highest score GRD put up. "Would you like to play?"
Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Satisfied they aren't going to be uprooted any time soon, Rhythm and Temari start in on their snacks.

Both Nadeshiko's eyebrows raise, the first at the introduction and the second at the high score.

"Nadeshiko Fujisaki." She grins, and it's a touch more Nagi than Nades. "And I'm pretty sure it would take more than a month to erase your scores."

The only thing aside from amusement in her voice is that of a friendly competitor.

However, she taps her chin in thought. "Winner buys the next round of...um...ice cream smoothies?"

There's gotta be a story there.
Ami Mizuno has posed:
"Oh, Fujisaki-san!" Ami says, eyes lighting up at recognition. "You're Queen's Chair of the Seiyou Guardians, aren't you?" she asks, then smiles at her. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

The challenge, though, earns a sly grin and a shift of her eyes to the side, towards the screen. "Pizza or coke for me," she notes. "But you're totally on. Best out of five, no holds barred?"
Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
A shy but pleased blush spreads across her cheeks. "Um, yeah. That's me. Though Nagihiko's more or less taken my position at school. Well, more likely as the Ace rather than the Queen."

"NAGIHIKO IS HER BROTHER!"

Nadeshiko pinches the bridge of her nose. Smoothe, Rhythm. "Don't deafen people we've just met, please."

She clears her throat. "But yes! I've heard your name, as well. From Tadase-kun, the other part in the GRD scores." A beat. "Or was it from Kukai?"

A wave of the hand!

"Either way, good impressions were made!" She cracks her knuckles, which may very well go against her elegant facade...

Oh well.

"Best out of five, no holds barred. I call Mika, only because I'm amused when Nadeshiko comes out. Temari, please don't help. I don't want to have to replace another game."

Temari sighs. "I will behave if I must."
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami starts in surprised when Rhythm shouts in her ear. She smiles and glances at the chara, then looks back to Nadeshiko as she takes her seat. "That's fine," Ami saysas she turns back to the game and drops two coins in the slot--casually buying Nadeshiko's way into the first round. "R. Mika's a decent character, although I find her style to be a bit disturbing. I suppose it's endemic of the franchise, though; not a very good representation of women in general. Japan seems to love it, though," she says with a faint sigh.

Replacing her glasses on her face, Ami scrolls through character select absently for a moment, then selects Ryu and smiles at Nadeshiko. "Ganbatte," she says, before leaning forward just a little while she waits for the match to start.
Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Nadeshiko sighs as she takes her seat, placing a couple coins along the screen as she does. (She saw what you did there, Ami!)

"More the world does, I think. If you think about it, it's not until very recently in the scope of human existence that showing skin on a female is socially acceptable. That doesn't make it right, of course, but if we give it a couple decades maybe the allure will wear off. Oh, I like him. Ganbatte."

The game starts.

Nadeshiko wishes she could blame being rusty on how horribly she starts off, but really, if she were against anyone else she may still be better than them.

Her hands remember combos her mind's forgotten. The tip of her tongue pokes out in concentration.

"Augh! I can't believe you killed me with a hadoken."
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami isn't an expert at the game by any means. But what she has is a certain set of skills: mental mathematical calculation, precision timing, sharp observation, quick reactions, and most of all : a keen tactical mind. The match is quick and decisive, and although it's not entirely one-sided, Ryu's healthbar is still nearly full when it ends.

"I got lucky," Ami demures gently. "If you hadn't stopped blocking with that second combo, I'd have never landed the spinning kick that put you off your guard for the hadoken."

As the animations play, she leans back to watch, then asks, "How are things at Seiyou, anyhow? Things have been so busy and terrifying, everywhere, lately, with the plants. I've been too busy to check in on the other schools." But the second match is starting, and Ami leans forward once again to focus.
Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
Nadeshiko gives Ami a look out of the corner of her eye. "Thanks, but this means it's on. Even if my victory comes next year."

Really, Nadeshiko is amused right now. Here is a challenge, a goal, silly as it may be, but it's something to accomplish!

She puffs out her cheeks as she thinks. "There was some clean up. Still is, I think. Unfortunately I was on stage in Osaka when everything went sideways. Fortunately--" She pauses to bodily tilt, slam the stick right, and mash a fast series of combos that sadly failed. "Drat. Fortunately, Tadase-kun said the Senshi made it back okay. I would have gone myself, but the white-haired guy...for some reason I tried to introduce him to my naginata."

Temari makes a little 'hmph.' "He should think twice before trying to woo impressionable ladies under false pretences."

Nagihiko (yes, Nagihiko) groans. "For the last time, he wasn't wooing anybody."

This comes just in time for the announcer to proclaim a KO.

"Augh." Nadeshiko looks at Ami out of the corner of her eyes and goes for the tease. "Stop talking so much during the fight, you're distracting me."
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami's concentration seems utterly impossible to break during the game. The knockout comes quickly, and she blinks at Nadeshiko. "White-haired ..." she trails off, then giggles. "You must mean Kunzite. So he hit on you?" she asks curiously, amused. And oh how that mind of hers is churning. Poor Kunzite is going to feature in another friendfic.

"Sorry, I won't talk during the next fight," she promises amusedly, then glances at Temari amusedly. "Although I do hope you'll tell me the story of how Kunzite woo'd you, sometime." Then, she turns back to the game. And this time she keeps her mouth shut.
Nadeshiko Fujisaki has posed:
For a moment, her head thunks down onto the console. "No, he didn't. Temari just made eyes at him."

When she lifts her head again, her cheeks are a bright red. But she clears her throat and settles back in her seat. "Besides. If I had a Facebook, my status would already be at 'It's Complicated.'"

Nadeshiko snorts at Ami's promise. Silly girl.

This time, Nadeshiko doesn't talk at all during the fight. She leans forward on her stool, hand and fingers moving along the controls, almost, hello Nadeshiko, and---

At the end, as her character stands victorious, Nadeshiko slumps back. "Wow. That was tiring." Another side eye. "You didn't go easy on me, didjya?"
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Either Ami is distracted, Nadeshiko had a lucky round, or they really are evenly matched. Whichever of the three it is, Ami's frown of disapproval is withering when the announcer declares, 'K. O. Mika Wins!'

She allows her scowl to disappear before shaking her head. "No, you just beat me that time," Ami says, a tiny amount of irritation slipping into her tone. "Two to one," she says. "Well played. I really hate that move where Nadeshiko comes out. I know you find it amusing, but having Ryu's face smashed between their bottoms is ... vulgar," she says. Then she glances towards Nadeshiko. "This next match will be interesting."
