- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
It's near midnight at WPS HQ. Miss White is in her office, dutifully typing up financial and magical reports to a few donors, and board members of Eclipse. Not strictly necessary right now, but she likes to keep those she's beholden to off her back as much as possible. The office is large, tastefully decorated, and has waaay too many pictures of various favored employees, and especially Boris and Haruna.
There's also a suspiciously kyubey-shaped stress ball on her desk, and a dart board with the face of Queen Beryl on it that looks well used.
Getting up, yawning, and with a stretch, she's over to the coffee machine to try to keep awake.
- Madison Perry has posed:
Normally, one would think that being near the top of a skyscraper which you, for all intents and purposes, own would be a particularly safe and controlled environment in which a person can do their work without being interrupted. In most cases, this is probably correct.
Tonight though, for Miss White, this common sense conclusion does not hold true. Quite suddenly there's a loud rapraprap on the window. Looking over, it's just possible to make out the form of a young woman, hovering on the other side of the glass. It's dark, but the light spilling from within the office is enough to illuminate the blonde hair, blue eyes, and long black-and-dark-red Barrier Jacket.. not to mention the handle of the curved knife which with she is knocking on the window.
Madison Perry wears a casual, almost sardonic grin, as if it's amusing to her to be knocking on someone's window dozens of stories in the air in the middle of the night. Hell, it probably is.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Tap tap tap. Slowly, slooowly, there's a frown from Miss White. She considers ignoring it. Few people bother to use the outside window, after all. Half of her enemies and allies know she'd invite them in to her office willingly, or at least meet them somewhere.
That means either there's some newbie trying to impress her, Kyubey's here to be an insufferable little punk again, or someone is trying to play with her.
The result is the same. Hannah lands back in her chair, wheels over, and then kicks the latch on the window. Unfortunately for Madison, it's one of those that open /outwards/.
Assuming she hasn't just punted her new visitor off the building, she straightens that scowl into a perfect CEO smile.
"...You could've just called ahead. Now who are you, and why are you bothering m..."
Pause.
"Oh, it's you. The girl from before. Come on in, want some coffee or something?" She sounds marginally less annoyed.
- Madison Perry has posed:
Luckily for Madison (and likely, for future non-violent relations between the two), she had been hovering outside the window and not standing on the ledge. This means as Hannah kicks it open, she is able to nimbly swerve out of the way without getting smashed, although it's a close thing. Good thing her reflexes are more or less intact after her prison stint.
Settling back down in front of the now-open window, Madison arches a perfect eyebrow over her sky-blue eyes. "That ain't no way to welcome a potential business partner, Miss White, now is it?" She asks, though her voice sounds more amused than angry.
When Miss White seems to recognize her, and even offers coffee, she laughs lightly and swoops forward into the office, her boots settling to the floor solidly. The twin daggers she holds dematerlialize in a flash of dark red light and return to being a silver bracelet with a dark red, diamond-shaped gem around her left wrist.
"Darlin', I would kill for a coffee. Thank you." She says, as she walks right over and leans back against Miss White's desk, crossing one ankle over the other. "I didn't call because I can't exactly say, 'Hello, can I come and talk to you, by the way I am a wanted criminal please don't tell the TSAB'. That's how one gets caught, you see."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
"Sorry about that, you see, most of the time only this insufferable jerk uses the 'tap on the glass' trick. It's instinct at this point." Madison swoops in, and Hannah's making coffee. There's cream, sugar, and even honey placed right in front of her. Even as Madison leans, there's a chair shoved her way. Nice comfy leather.
"I guess you've got a point. Not that the TSAB has any authority in this building, I'll toss them off the roof myself if they get any bright ideas." Tch.
Then, she sits back down.
"So. What can I do for you?" Smile.
- Madison Perry has posed:
Madison eyes the chair for a moment.. but doesn't take it. "No offense. Id rather stand." She says after a moment, with the sort of lazy shrug that suggests whether or not Hannah is offended is not really worrisome to her. She does take the coffee though, adding what seems to be a somewhat unreasonable amount of sugar to it, but no cream, before taking a sip.
"Mmn. Well, y'see, I'd rather the TSAB, or the Remnant, as they call themselves, didn't know where I was.. or where I'd been. They seem to think I'm some sort of criminal and can't be allowed to walk around on my own." She laughs dismissively.
As Hannah asks after the purpose of her visit, Madison falls silent for a few moments.. then clears her throat. "Got to askin' around after I accidentally busted in one your job at the Gem Show the other day. See, as I am.. recently liberated, I'm without employment at the moment, and I could really use some cash. I figured, given the activities I observed not long ago, that you might have some use for someone of my.. talents. Stricly on an outside contractor basis, you understand. I ain't lookin' for long-term employment."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Luckily Hannah isn't so easily offended. She listens to Madison, nodding several times, before tapping her chin and kicking up her legs.
"A regular ghost to them, huh? Well, I can see why. Alright, that's fine. It'd be awful to be in their custody, I'm sure." Shrug.
Miss White sits up, she leans on her elbows, and smiles.
"Do you now? Contract work. Oh, I can definitely point you in several directions. Maybe even offer some help in that myself. Now, I've seen a bit of what you can do, but we need to go through the motions." Ahh, corporations and red tape.
"Tell me all about what you can do! Your specialties, your experiences, what you'd like to learn...that kind of stuff!"
- Madison Perry has posed:
"Eh, it ain't so bad." Madison says, with regards to TSAB custody, shrugging her shoulders. "I mean.. they feed ya, don't torture you or nothin'. S'boring though. Girl like me, I gotta be out, doin' stuff. Makin' waves." She grins.
Madison quirks her brows again at the 'job interview' type questions, taking another sip of the coffee. "Well, see, back before I got trapped on this backwards planet I was a pirate. I had my own crew and everything, ran the shipping lanes between several of the TSAB's core worlds. Made a good bit of profit.. 'til I got caught."
The twist of her face makes it clear she isn't interested in talking about that. She then continues, "I'm good in a fight. I can be sneaky if I need to be. I like destroyin' stuff. Y'know.. smash and grab. That sorta thing." She waves one hand airily.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
"I guess it could be worse, but you strike me as the kind of person that a bunch of totalitarian blowhards like that...well, they obviously rub you the wrong way." Smirk.
Ahem! Back to work. "Let's see...'leadership skills'. 'Calm under pressure'. 'Clever solutions to critical problems'. 'Experience in shipping and deliveries'. 'Experienced demolitions, and other discrete corporate actions'." Her hands fly along a keyboard, typing up everything. A click of a mouse, and a printer in the room hums. There's a nice, clean, detailed resume with a blank for Madison's name on it. She walks over, yanks it off, and slides a pen and the resume towards her.
"There you go! I will be expecting a professional cover letter by wednesday along with your resume. And here. Get a suit. We're a professional organization, try to look the part. I'll send a few emails to the right people." There's a card slid her way, with enough on it for a very nice suit and shoes.
Siiiip coffee.
"I'd wish you luck, but I have a good feeling. We're going to be working together a lot, I wager." Grin!
- Madison Perry has posed:
Madison listens to all of this, as Hannah rattles off the list of her qualificiations. Yes, they all sound quite nice. Mmhmm.. those are all things she excels at, it's true. She doesn't move from where she leans against the desk, sipping the rest of her coffee, a faint little smile toying with the corners of her mouth.
But when the resume is slid across the desk to her, along with the card and the advice to 'get a suit', and all that sort of stuff, she quirks a brow. She doesn't move at first.. and then, after a moment, laughs slightly. She pushes herself off the desk and sets the coffee cup down, then turns around, putting her hands on her hips.
"I ain't sure you and I are exactly on the right page, Miss White." She says, with a low tone to her voice and a dangerous glint in her sky blue eyes. "Y'see, I didn't come here lookin' to be some low-tier employee. I don't write.. cover letters. And I don't wear suits. Well, other than Heartrazor here." She gestures to the barrier jacket, and the bracelet on her wrist chimes with a low note.
She leans forward, placing her hands on the edge of the desk. "So lemme tell you how it's gonna work... if it works at all. You want something found? You want someone hurt, or killed? You want something destroyed? You call me. I get it done. You forward payment."
She reaches out with two fingers and pulls the card towards herself, eyeing it for a moment, then flipping it up into her hand. "Contractor, I said. I ain't interested in being a lackey, and I ain't interested in joining your organization. I just need money, and I'm willing to do some jobs on the side to get myself situated."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Miss White's brow squints. Slowly, as Madison rejects suits, and general trappings of employment, she leans back in her chair. The card getting taken anyway gets ignored.
"Yeesh, this is why you independent contractors annoy me so much. Oh well, can you really blame me for trying? I get it, I get it, you want to do your own thing, no strings, et cetera. Fine, fine fine. I'll print you out the forms." Brrrt brrt brrt.
Rip, chuck. "Sign that. It says you're authorized to work with WPS subsidiaries, employees, on a per-job basis. Got an email? If anyone else has jobs for you, well, I can put your contact info in the right ears. Any more complaints?" Huff. She sounds slightly annoyed at this point.
- Madison Perry has posed:
"Look, hun," Madison says, her tone as smooth as snake-oil. "I came here because I thought we could help each other. I need money, and organizations like yours, from what I hear, are always in need of gettin' things done."
"Don't take it all personal that I don't want to be one of your hired goons." She takes the paperwork, eyeing it for a moment, then placing it back down onto the desk. With a flash of red, her bracelet transforms back into the two daggers, one held loosely in each hand. "My loyalty, in the big scheme of things, is spoken for."
She nicks the tip of one finger on the edge of her dagger, a droplet of blood welling out. Then, using the tip of the dagger as a pen nib, she skillfully scrawls "Heartrazor" on the bottom of the paperwork, in her own blood. Laughing, she banishes the blades again.
"Heartrazor, send her my contact information."
<<Yes, mistress.>>
She turns and starts to head back to the window. "If anyone in your.. organization has a job that needs doing, and pays well, tell them to let me know. Once a few get done, I'm sure everyone will be.. mutually satisfied."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
That last bit actually makes her smile. "Hey, it's /hard/ to find reliable employees! Still. I can appreciate a loyal woman. Be careful out there, huh, kiddo?"
The window opens, and her own Device accepts the info. Hannah's already at the keyboard again, typing away, several important Eclipse board members having their inboxes filled.
One final laugh carries out the window as Madison leaves.
"We'll see about that. I can be insatiable."
- Madison Perry has posed:
Madison lifts off of the floor just inside the open window. "Mmm.. you and me both." She says, with another little laugh, before she vanishes out the window in a sudden flash of red light.
