2093/Shining Star

Shining Star

Synopsis:	As more secrets concerning Yuuki's device unfold, Much more is revealed conceaning the mysterys of her father. Finding A kindred Spirit in Nanoha, Yuuki discovers that she is far from alone when it comes to this strange new world.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
The events of Monday night have been written off as some sort of a dream. A very very weird dream for Yuuki Oshiro. She's completely disregarded it as happening. After all who would believe her?! The idea that a cute yellow star rock stripped her and put her in some fantasy outfit and gave her a big ol staff was completely insane! So just don't think about it. Thats exactly how she decided to cope!

School was nice and peaceful. She had taken a little string and tied it around the rock turning the it into a charm bracelet. Even if she didn't want to believe that this thing was anything but a rock, it still belonged to her dad and there was no way she was letting it out of her sight after that.

After a quiet Tuesday, and a well rested night, Wednesday was upon her. She went to school wearing her charm, not really caring so much if anyone seen it. In fact she was just proud to say it was something of her dad's.

Now though, School is out and Yuuki's been wondering what Nanoha was up to. She had left so fast on Halloween night that she really didn't get to say goodbye to her. That kinda stunk because Yuuki was starting to see Nanoha as a bit of a friend. So Onto The Cafe Midori-ya. She quietly slips in and gets in line.

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi is sitting in a both folding napkins. She is then putting plastic cutlery inside the napkins. She is then tying them together with a pretty pink bow, and then she is putting them in a box. Cutlery, if it's needed by the patrons, all wrapped up nice and cute!

This was her afterschool chore and she was happy to do it.

Sadly, Yuuno couldn't help with this. But Yuuno was looking on as Nanoha worked repeatedly. Cutlery. Wrap. Tie. Plop. Again and again.

She has not noticed Yuuki yet. She is too busy in her work. She seems in deep concentration even giving this small task her one hundred percent.

Yuuno notices Yuuki though and taps Nanoha on the head. Nanoha blinks and looks at Yuuno with a "Huh?" and then he points over to Yuuki. Oh! Yuuki.

"Hi Yuuki!" she says. "Um. Come over here when you order! I'm just folding things." she says.

"Nothing too busy!" she says.

She goes back to folding in the booth she's occupied near the far end of the store, near the counter-- it isn't a window seat- so she isn't occupying choice seating.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro waves to Nanoha as she is noticed. She quickly moves to the counter. Placing her order, she gets two of those yummy eclairs and hot cider again. Thats the stuff she likes after all so, once she has those she quietly moves over to join Nanoha and Yuuno.

"Hello, Nanoha-san. How are you? I am sorry for dropping in without warning. I just wanted to hang out and stuff. Sorry I've been so quiet in school. Things just went really... Well really weird on Monday Night. How are you?"

She smiles to the little ferret. How is she to know that Yuuno isn't a Ferret!? She gets out something she kept from lunch. A few pieces of apple. She quickly holds them out. "Here you go Yuuno. I brought you a treat!"

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi looks at Yuuki and head tilts as she moves over to the booth, most likely sitting on the other side. She smiles a bit, and head tilts. "Things went weird." she says softly. "How weird?" she asks softly as she purses her lips.

She discussed the events with Yuuno. First Yuuki finds an odd Star Shaped stone. Then there's some sort of anomaly. Then Yuuki is claiming weirdness. Yuuno's given it a mostly sixty percent change that it was an intelligent device.

She keeps smiling a bit. "So. Um." she says. "This may be a weird question." she says. "And-- if you know it- try to keep your voice quiet." she says.

"But if I say the word 'Intelligent Device' does that mean anything to you?" she asks quietly as she places another wrapped up piece of cutlery into the 'done' box. It's about halfway through!

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro looks at Nanoha curiously as she takes a bite of her first eclair. She frowns. "Just... Really weird. I mean... First this and then what I seen on his Ikiko-san's head. Then after you left things got even crazier but umm... Its kinda too strange.

She looks at Nanoha again and her face goes white. No she doesn't know about the intelligent part but Device? Yes she knows about it. It also means that she isn't crazy. She closes her eyes tight. ~Shining Star? Are you awake?~ She speaks mentally to the device on her wrist.

~I am active, Sister.~

Yuuki sighs, ~What should I do. Should talk to her about this?~

~You already are.~

Yuuki blinks a few times and then just looks at Nanoha. Now her face is going red. ~You can hear me like this?! I'm not going crazy am I?~

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi head tilts and thinks as she taps her chin in thought as she listens to Yuuki. She doesn't hear the conversation between her and Shining Star. She just sees her go white. And then she looks at her and she does hear the 'telepathy' aimed specifically at her. Mainly because Raising Heart is always around her neck.

~ Aha! I thought so!~ she says.

~This is really awkward. Talking like this. Because we're just staring at one another to other people but don't seem to mind it.~ she says. ~Luckily. We haven't been talking long! Um. Yuuno's gonna do a thing. So we can talktalk~ she says.

Yuuno raises his tiny tiny paw. A circle forms around said paw- glowing in blue- as- the world suddenly turns a dull gray outwards. The people disappear- leaving only Yuuki and Nanoha alone in a barrier.

Nanoha takes a deep breath. "Okay!" she says. "This is a barrier! It kind of. Removes... well. I don't like to use the word.. 'normal' for people, because we're normal! But it removes non-magical people- and things broken here don't translate to the 'real world." she says. "To everyone else- they didn't see us disappear- but we're 'not there' anymore. No one will see us 'come back' either." she says.

"Also, no one can 'spy' on us this way or accidently overhear us. So. It's secret." she says.

Yuuno hops down onto the table and head tilts up at Yuuki. "Your device." he asks. Yes. The ferret talks. "Do you know it's name?" he asks. "Does it speak a language you don't know?" he asks as he taps his chin curiously.

"Oh. Right. This is Yuuno! He's a space archeologist!" she insists.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro blinks a few times and nods. Yuuki quietly runs her hand over her own device and just looks around. ~Yes it is. Umm. Wait Yuuno is?!~ She blinks a few times. Then for the first time she actually sees magic. Well aside from her syncing to Shining Star...

"Woah. Okay this is really freaky. It looks scary right now. So dark. So no people in here. No one even knows we exist here? Thats just really scary. But I guess its okay. If they can't hear or listen in, then I guess it's not all bad." Yuuki looks around just very curious at this.

Then Yuuno starts talking. She looks closely at him and then at Nanoha, "Umm Nanoha, your ferret is talking and doing magic. Am I the only one a little weirded out by this?" She blinks a few times. "Umm... Shining Star? And Umm... She does but I can understand it somehow. I don't know how."

"A Ferret who is a Space Archeologist... Wow."

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi head tilts and ohs! "Um. Not really. Oh. Yuuno isn't really 'my ferret' he's a friend." she says. Yuuno nods matter of factly. "I got... stranded on Earth when my ship blew up in the dimensional stream. Nanoha is helping me. Track things." he says.

"Oh. Right." she says. "My device." she says.

She pulls the necklace from her neck and taps the magenta bauble on the end. It transform into it's normal staff form.

"This is, Raising Heart." she says. "This used to be Yuuno's device. But he could never.. bond with it. Properly. For some reason. I can." she says.

Yuuno nods a bit. "Nanoha is one of the most powerful mages I've met." he says.

< Greetings. > says Raising Heart.

Yuuno continues. "Okay. So your device speaks 'Mid-Childian'." he says. "It sounds like English. But written, some letters are a little different." he says. "For the record." he says. "Some devices speak what on your world, you would call 'German'." he says. "These are called 'Armed Devices'. The language they speak is actually called 'Belkan'. Belka is effectively a civilization that fell many many many thousands of years- possibly eons ago, but their technology still exists." he says.

"Where did you find Shining Star?" he asks. "I understand it 'fell from you' potentially, as I talked about this with Nanoha." he says. "But that'd mean you'd have to had it on your person to begin with." he says.

Nanoha nods matter of factly. "Yup!" she says.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro looks at Yuuno and blushes a little. "Oh umm. Cool! Thats really nice of her. I'm glad she's helping you! She gives a warm smile and then takes her bracelet off. "This is Shining Star."

< Greetings. > Responds Shining Star sounding a lot like an English woman.

The girl then smiles a little and touches Shining Star. It shifts into her own staff. The thing is bigger then she is which is fun enough.

Quietly she listens to Yuuno as he speaks of the different types of devices. Its a lot to take in. "Mid-Childa..." She speaks as she considers this. "When I was little... my daddy... He would talk about things to me when momma wasn't around. He said that word I think."

She thinks, "Shining Star was in my daddy's old work vest. I wore it for halloween as a costume."

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Yuuno thinks about this and rests his hand on his chin. Which looks adorable because he's a ferret. "So that word sounds familiar to you." he says softly. "See...."

"Mid-Childa is TSAB Administered World #1." he says. "The TSAB is the... 'Time Space Administration Bureau'. Effectively. 'Dimensional Space Police'." he says.

"Earth isn't an Administered world. The TSAB has no presence here." he says. "Not officially. Earth is what we consider.. a-- 'dangerous, primitive backwater'." he admits, a little shamed by it, since he's been living here since.

"The dimensional fabric around Earth is a mess. Like. A constant whirlwind, hurricane, tornado and thunder storm and tropical storm all mixed into one." he says. "So it's 'Off Limits' because anything that comes close to it gets ripped apart- or pulled in." he says. "And once you're in, you can't get out." he says.

"That's what happened to me. I got too close--- and my engines suddenly blew out- and I was sucked here with my cargo. My ship doesn't exist anymore. It's been blown to bits- and messages don't get out though the disturbances." he says. "So distress calls aren't answered."

"Anyways. I'm telling you this, because a few years back, a TSAB Ship called 'The Azura' was trying to map the area. Something happened- and it was pulled in and blew up pretty bad. Sometimes. Pieces phase from the dimensional fabric and crash land around Tokyo." he says. "It's crew and passengers- those that got off, sort of ended up on Earth. But not all at the same time." he says. "And I do mean 'time' here. The displacement was pretty bad. Some people actually phased in- in the past. Others are still phasing in. Some appeared just a few minutes after they left." he says. "Their devices sometimes appear too-- or those that appeared too far in the past left them behind when. Well. Time. It catches up to everyone." he says a little solemnly.

Nanoha nods! "The Captain of the ship was named Lindy! She's on Earth. I've met her. She's really nice. If a little sad. They're sort of stranded here for good." she says. "She's been trying to find survivors and make sure they're okay." she purses her lips.

Yuuno taps his chin. "So. You remember hearing a word like Mid-Childa." he says. "And your dad had the device." he says- as he thinks.

Nanoha speaks up. "Maybe your dad was one of the Asura's survivors?" she asks.

"Have you asked Shining Star things?" she asks.

"I know it sounds like a servant robot, but Intelligent Devices are like tiny people. They each have their own distinct personality. Raising Heart doesn't talk much, for example- and only speaks when it has something to say-- but I have a friend who's device has like three different personalities and they all argue with one another sometimes." she giggles.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro just watches the little ferret and part of her finds him completely adorable. Still she is being overwhelmed by all of this information that she is getting buried with. She blinks a few times and just absorbs all she can.

"So let me see if I got this all. There is are multiple planets. Multiple dimensions. And Time Travel? Then there is a group who keeps watch over this stuff. Earth is off limits but a lot of people are here from Other dimensions and times. Thats really a lot to think about."

She looks at her staff... at Shining Star and sighs, "I've been avoiding talking to her because of what happened on Monday night." She looks at The device. "Lets show them." She stands up and backs up."Shining Star, Set-up!"

< Setting Up! > Suddenly everything goes violet as yellow stars begin falling all around Yuuki. Her clothing vanishes and is promptly replaced with a very interesting outfit looking almost like a dress with a cape on it.

As the transformation ends, Yuuki smiles a little. "This happened. And umm, Shining Star started calling me Sister instead of what she was calling me."

She looks at Nanoha and frowns, "Shining Star was worried about me when I got scared on Halloween, at the school. She spoke out and the people we were with heard her."

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi nods. "Your devices monitor you. They know when you're scared or worried or happy or sad." she says. "So it probably detected your elevated heart rate-- your shortness of breath..." she says. "It was probably monitoring you the moment you put your vest on actually. But then you touched it properly." she says.

"Oh! That's called a Barrier Jacket. That is. The spell is called. 'Barrier Jacket'." she says. "Everything you do with a device is a spell it knows- that you can use."

"I'm a practiced mage so I don't need a device to cast basic spells." Yuuno says. "And even with Raising Heart, I could only use it in Guest Mode, which didn't help me much anyways."

Nanoha thinks a bit as she taps her chin. "That looks really nice though." she smiles. "Mine isn't anything special. Really." she says.

"Do you know what kind of device Shining Star is? Raising Heart is a Bombardment Device." she says.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
< I am an Intelligent Device. Weapon Type. Designed for Long ranged assault. Not unlike Rising Heart. My Previous Master had me designed to suit his fighting style. Sister has the potential to fight in a similar manner. She has much to learn though. >Shining Star states with almost a cocky tone.

Yuuki looks at Nanoha and Yuuno. She thinks a moment before speaking again. "When I was talking to Shining Star, She had me go outside. She wanted me to speak what I wanted. She told me to speak my heart. They told me I was a magical girl... Ikiko and the others. Because I could see her ears. But I spoke my heart. Then it was like these words filled my mind. Shining Star and I said them at the same time and this happened. I don't understand what happened." She smiles a little and looks at Shining Star. "Wait. If your previous master was my Daddy and he had you designed to suit him... You've got to know more about him. Why did he speak of Mid-Childa to me.

< That is where Master was born. It was his home world. Error. I'm not permitted to speak further of this. Master programmed me with a special password designed to prevent others from learning too much about his profession. I call you Sister now because you said we are like Family. I was your Father's creation just as you are. Therefore I am your Sister. >

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Yuuno listens and taps his foot. "Okay. So your dad created Shining Star." he says. "That makes him a Device Meister- most likely. Creating these things aren't-- easy. It requires a basic understanding of Quantum Mechanics and other such nonsense-- it isn't my specialty- as I said, I'm an archeologist." he says. "My major is in the study of Ancient Belka."

Nanoha listens to Shining Star and head tilts. "Mmmmm. Sounds like your dad locked it for safe keeping." she says. "At least parts of it." she says. "Oh right. You're definitely going to want to have Shining Star start brining you into training simulations. I know this sounds really weird? But a lotta Mid-Childan magic is very complicated math. Also. That's why I always ace math!" she beams.

"I drill every morning, right before dawn." she says. "I go running!" she says.

A pause. "There's lots of dangerous things you probably didn't notice before, that you'll start to notice." she says.

"There's a lot of bad people who'll hurt others." she says a little sadly. "And there are these like.. monsters sometimes!" she says.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro takes a deep breath and just takes this in. "A Device Meister? That sounds really tough. I don't think I could do that. This all sounds like a lot of hard work but I've got to try right? Wait, Shining Star. Can you scan me? Am I half... Alien?"

< Sister you are half Mid-Childan and Half Earth Human. You are not an Alien. You are Yuuki. > The device responds.

Yuuki looks slightly worried. "Umm, Yes I need to start learning. Like a lot. This is just way too much to take in. My dad wasn't from earth! I'm half extradimensional human? This is really weird. I don't even know what this stuff means!"

She looks at Her friend and winces a little. "Ummm... I have felt things before. I never seen magic like this but I've felt them. Like I could feel things around me. Like when you and Nicola were talking about stuff. I felt like there was stuff going on I couldn't see. Its strange. But Monsters? I've never seen any monsters before."

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi ohs! "Nicola-chan! Yeah. We were. Talking. About stuff." she says quietly with a half-embarrassed smile. "When I was talking about 'her friend' I meant 'her Intelligent Device.'." she says.

"If you want, I can introduce you to Nicola about that stuff. Or you can try yourself. I shouldn't talk to much about her, though, she'll tell you herself." she smiles.

"Um. Maybe we want to speak with Lindy-san?" she asks. "Lindy might have records of your dad from databanks that they salvaged." she says.

She head tilts. "I know this is a lot to take in." she says softly. "But you'll get used to it real fast." she says. "In a few months it'll really be second nature to you." she grins.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro looks at Nanoha and nods. "That might be good. I don't know how I am going to learn to do this stuff. Where do you even start to learn..."

< You ask. I am programmed with a large number of spells. I was a prototype which Master created with the intent to expand his knowledge of Magic. Be Warned, This is not Easy but you will learn. You have the a lot of potential. A strength. Just follow your heart and you can make everything better. This world, This dimension, Everything. >

"My daddy said that to me. That was his last words to me. Shining Star, why?" Yuuki is tearing up a little now. Those words hit her to the very core. She is shaking its such intense emotions.

< Master had me scan you. He wished to know your potential as he knew he wouldn't be here. He also had me record something for you. >

A male voice rings out. "Dear Yuuki, If you have found Shining Star and activated her it means that I never recovered. I am so sorry I couldn't stay. When I left Mid-Childa I had created Shining Star to help me learn all I could of Magic. I never expected to fall in love. I never thought I would ever have a child, Especially on this backwater planet. When your Mother was pregnant I programmed this Device to teach you how to use your Magic should you be strong enough to do so. I now know that you are much stronger then I ever was. Learn from her and know, I am always with you. I love you, Yuuki-chan. You will forever be my greatest creation."

< While I disagree with him concerning you being his Greatest Creation I accept this because you are human and I am a Device. I will teach you as Master has asked. >

Yuuki is just stunned. Her eyes are soaked. "End this spell. Please. I... I need to go." The young girl's clothing changes back to normal. Everything within her is completely shattering as she does her best to accept this. She quickly pinches herself. "I'm awake. That means this is real! Daddy!"

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi head tilts a little as she listens a little solemnly. She feels kind of awkward, hearing what is effectively a private message. She doesn't quite show it on her face though. Better to not appear uncomfortable. Yuuno taps his chin. "Okay." he says. "So that proves it." he says with a matter of fact nod.

"We should train together. If you think that'd help." she says quietly. "I'm not a good teacher. I don't think. But." she says. "Doing things together are better than not doing it at all." she says. "Besides, we can spar in a simulation and not actually 'hurt' each other for real!" she smiles.

She lets Raising Heart fall back to it's small bauble like form as she head tilts. "Let Yuuno know when you want the barrier gone." she says.

"Do you want it gone?" she asks.

She head tilts. "Of course this is 'real'." she says with a smile.

Yuuki Oshiro has posed:
Yuuki Oshiro looks at Nanoha and nods to her. "I would like that. And sparring would be fun I guess. I mean I've no idea how to do any of this so I guess, I'm going to get a crash course in magic." She gives a forced smile to Nanoha and bows to her politely. "Thank you for being my friend, Nanoha-chan." She smiles a little more authentically.

She turns to Yuuno as she she slips shining star over her wrist again. "Yuuno, Please let the barrier fall. I need to go home. There is a lot to think about now. I don't know who my daddy was but apparently he was able to make a device. Right now though I just need to go think on it."

She turns to Nanoha, "It just seems like a dream is all. I will see you tomorrow... I guess bright and early." As soon as the barrier drops, she begins making her exit, finishing off her now cooled cider and taking her eclairs with her as she goes.
