Cast of Characters: Nanoha Takamachi, Ami Mizuno, Fate T. Waldia

Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
It's only a half day of school- and Momma Takamachi has said that Nanoha and Fate don't need to help today! Which means it's a free day. But what to do with it? Nanoha Takamachi considers the Crown, but then also considers Fate-chan...

Fate might not be ready for such a place on the half-day weekend. Which is super busy right now on such a nice day, no doubt.

Then she looks to the tray of slightly stale bread that usually gets disposed of.

She smiles.

"Fate-chan, let's go to the park!"

It doesn't take long to get to the park. A quick bus ride down the road and there you are. At the park, Nanoha with a tote bag filled with bottles of water and a few loaves of stale bread.

The park is busy, but the park is big enough that the commotion is all spread out over the large park. She'll walk down over to the side of the pond and smiles.

"Ducks~" she says.

Quack. Goes one of the ducks. In a perfectly normal duck way and not like a guy saying 'quack'. Which means normal ducks and not say, a magical duck mascot.

That's important, when you're a magical girl!, duh.
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno is sitting nearby, reading a book, of course. She looks up at the younger girls feeding ducks, smiling and nodding to them, before looking down at her book again. She's too shy to approach, but she keeps an eye on them as she reads, glancing up every few pages to smile again. There is joy in feeding ducks. There is innocence and hope--and Ami wants to feel that again, apparently. But still, it'd be weird to approach kids so much younger than she.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Nanoha is right in that the crown might be a little much for Fate, who has been finally beginning to properly settle into her new and now much more peaceful life. She's still surprisingly shy around most new people and when working, but she's mostly gotten used to helping out in the bakery, too.
So with school out early and hearing she's free from duties at Midori-ya, this does leave a bit of a conundrum about what to do. So Nanoha's sughestion to go to the park is met with wholehearted approval.
So one bus ride and a little walk later, Fate is... Holding Nanoha's hand. She's chosen a lacy black dress for the outing, and seems... Particularly fascinated by the ducks and their ordinary quacking.
She had never quite taken the time to actually enjoy a park before, but...
Even living a life of peace, Fate is still as keen as a knife.
"Nanoha... That girl is watching us..."
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi is happily holding Fate-chan's hand the whole time walking down to the pond. This makes Nanoha happy. Since welll. Two months ago-- well bad things still. But not anymore!

Nanoha Takamachi eyes Fate's fascination with ducks. It occurs to her that there probably wasn't very many ducks where Fate lived originally. Then Fate mentions that someone is watching them, and her eyes casually peek over, to see who it is.

Oh! She leans over. "That's Ami Mizuno. I think. She's.. a big deal at the school. For being incredibly smart." she says, in a whisper to Fate, but not out loudly. She does give a wave to the other girl.

"We're feeding ducks." she says as she pulls out the bag of stale bread. Well, one of a couple in that bag.

Some ducks instinctually know the motions of 'pulling out a bag of bread' and some have started to swim over to investigate!

"...Do you wanna come feed ducks too?" she asks.
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno blushes. "It probably seems a little weird," she admits to the younger girls, but she stands and walks over, putting her book in her bookbag. "I'd love to, though. I haven't fed ducks in years." She offers a polite bow to both of them. "Ami Mizuno, of Class 11-1. I go to Seishou Public," she says quietly, before waiting to be offered the bag of bread.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Oh, Nanoha knows her. ... At least by word of mouth anyway. Though the name furrows Fate's brow.
Ami Mizuno is a name Takashi had mentioned in the past.
Though from Takashi's demeanor every time Ami's name came up never gave Fate the impression she had to be distrustful or anything. The girl gives a simple "Oh." at first as she fits a few pieces together in her head.
Ami's bow is met with one in return from the twin-tailed girl. "Ah... Fate... Fate Testarossa. I um. I just transferred to Seishou recently."
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi smiles and nods. "Yup! She's from far away! She's staying with me." she says. "Hello, Mizuno-san! I'm Nanoha Takamachi, my family runs the Midori-ya Bakery and Cafe in town." she smiles.

She offers the bag of bread to Ami, before pulling out another and offering it to Fate-chan with a smile.

Then she pulls out her own bags--- leaving the water bottles at the bottom.

She pulls out a piece of bread and rips off a small chunk and throws it into the water. Then another one and another one.

Duckies are now going wild. Quack quack quack. Not a loud ruckus but they're obviously digging into the bread!
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno nods. "A pleasure," she says softly, but she looks at Testarossa-san, eyes narrowing--not meanly, but she too is putting pieces into place. She mulls things over a moment before smiling softly. "Thank you, Takamachi-san." And she takes the stale bread loaf, slowly tearing it up as she thinks.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Even if the intent wasn't mean, Fate notices the look. She meets it with a placid gaze. But she notices it.
But when it just amounts to simple recognition, Fate lets it pass.
So when Nanoha passes her a bag of the stale bread, she opens it.
"Nice to meet you." The girl replies, before intently watching Nanoha for a moment, and then looking to the ducks. Fate purses her lips and plucks a small piece of bread to throw into the water, as well, apparently aiming for some of the straggler ducks that don't make it to the frenzy in time for Nanoha's bread.
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi does notices the odd looks between Fate and Ami, but she gently purses her lips, since it doesn't seem to amount to much. She thinks, maybe they know each other magically somehow? She isn't going to pry obviously and directly right now though.

She continues throwing bread into the pond. SOMETIMES a stray pond fish peeks up and gobbles a piece of bread before a duck can get it.

She's thinking about it a little, as she speaks up. "Um. have you two. Met before?" she asks with a softer tone, curiously.

She notices the looks herself, you know~.
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno looks between Fate and Nanoha. "I--" She blushes. "I know, uh. A friend of Fate's," she murmurs. That's accurate? "Maybe former friend," she says, assessing Fate and then Nanoha again. She throws some of her pre-torn bread in a small handful. The wide arc of stale food catches the breeze a bit, scattering a little further. This seems to be what the bluenette wanted, as she nods, and does it again.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
"I think we might have a mutual acquaintance." Fate answers Nanoha honestly.
Though she leaves it at that, speaking very quietly. Mostly because she's not a very loud girl, anyway. Fate focuses on feeding the ducks though, methodically tearing uniform strips of bread and aiming them to straggler ducks with almost pinpoint precision.
    "It's nothing bad. I think."
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi tries to read between the lines on that. She comes up with 'maybe one of the people Fate-chan used to work for'. So she leaves it at that.

Nanoha Takamachi admires Fate-chan's ability to pinpoint target ducks. She thinks that, maybe it's like aiming a Photon Lancer, but the lancer is bread and instead of Nanoha it's a duck's general area.

She nods at Ami. "Ah. Okay I think I get it." she says with a smile. She leaves it at that.

She'll put the bag down for a moment and digs out a bottle of water. She hands one to Fate, first, before she asks Ami. "Mizuno-san would you like a bottle of water?" she asks with a smile smile.
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno smiles softly at Fate. "It isn't bad, just a little startling," the older girl says, throwing some bread to a greedy koi. Her pieces, like Fate's, are uniform, although they're more cubes than strips. Then she nods to Nanoha. "I would love some water, thank you," she says with a smile of her own.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
See? Nothing bad. Everything is alright.
A few more precision bread tosses and Fate decides to take a small break. "Someone I still need to talk to, actually." She murmurs more to herself than to the other two, but she's not hiding it either.
Fate's lips purse briefly, but then she takes aim again, tossing a small piece of bread to a duckling that couldn't muscle past the bigger ducks in their feeding frenzy.
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi does hear that, and this helps her put a few more puzzle pieces together in her head of who that could be. And who she knows Fate-chan hasn't talked to yet. Him. Specifically. Riventon.

"Ah. You mean. Him." she says quietly, pursing her lip again in though.

She makes a little stern expression at this, but doesn't react either. Not disapproval, but more. That man. She doesn't know what to think of him. He's a jerk, but then he isn't, but then he is?

She gets back to bread tossing. Tearing off another piece and into the water. As if she's keeping the bigger ones away from the smaller ones so Fate can better pinpoint target the duckling.

It's like MMO tactices, but in duck pond form!
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno sips from her water, watching Fate curiously, before doing the same for Nanoha. She frowns softly. "Have I caused offense?" she asks, confused and concerned by turns. Thinking it's her that Fate's speaking of, naturally, has made the girl worried. She screws the bottle lid back on, and bites her lip gently.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
"No." Fate replies, for Ami's benefit. Even if Nanoha hit the nail on the head.
"I just owe him that much, after everything." She does add. But then she drops the topic and stops throwing bread altogether.
While Nanoha and Takashi may have their differences, he was always kind to Fate.
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi knows enough to let it drop there. If she actually had reservations or an issue with it, Fate-chan would had known about it by now- and the only bit she did, well. Fate-chan decided to not go back to work for Riventon. So that's pretty much that!

Surely, when Fate-chan has that talk with Riventon, Riventon will be very adult about it and will be completely understanding.

She throws another bit of bread out. She eyes her bag. She still has enough left. She sips at her own water bottle.

"No, I don't think anyone's offended, Mizuno-san." she smiles, reassuringly.
Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno hesitates. "Oh," she says softly. "He's... complicated. At best." She throws some bread, truly randomly now, her mind elsewhere. "If you'd like to write him a note, I can pass it along," she adds, perhaps as compromise, tilting her head. Despite Nanoha letting it drop, she's still fretting a bit.
Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Complicated is... One way to put it. Fate lets Ami leave it at that.
Fate has very much to say to Riventon, though. But that is not for here or now. Here and now is for tossing another bit of bread to that starving duckling, and relaxing with Nanoha.
"I can contact him." Fate says, "I just..." She just trails off. It's clear she hasn't done so because she's been hesitating. But then the girl shakes her head. "If you happen to see him any time soon just let him know I'd like to speak with him is all."
Nanoha Takamachi has posed:
Nanoha Takamachi nods with a smile. "Fate-chan can talk to him personally." she says. Besides, you should have a face to face conversation when it comes to things such as that!

She eeps. "I'm.. out of bread. Are you out of bread? I think...we're all out of bread now." she says as she stands up and gives a ... bow to the ducks. "Sorry ducks, but we're out of bread!" she says with an apologetic smile.

Yes, she's going to apologize to the ducks.

"We should be going soon anyways. Dinner soon!" she says with a smile at Fate. "Right?" she asks.
