Youma Attack At The Pool
Date of Scene: 14 September 2015
Location: Uminari City - Juuban Avenue - North
Synopsis: Helix and Fate unleash a Retriever at an apartment complex and Cure Gull comes to save the day, but the young girls intentions end up being more devious than merely stealing energy from the residents!
Cast of Characters: Fate T. Waldia, Haruna Kurosawa, Euphemia Barchetta

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
This has been a long time coming. The plot was hatched weeks ago, though the specifics had been vague. Two of the girls in Eclipse's new UMBRA division had something they wanted badly, and were willing to take for themselves. There had been a lot of planning on once to do once they had the object of their desire, but perhaps not so much on actually going out and getting it.

Cut to a very and well kept apartment complex on Jubaan Avenue in Uminari City. It's sunny outside and many people are enjoying the last gasp of summer before the temperature cools down, and the complex's lovely pool is the focus of much of this attention. It's in that pool that darkness suddenly begins to form, diffuse at first but quickly coalescing into a solid shape.

The non-magical humans of the area don't notice it at first, perhaps thinking there's simply the shadow of a cloud overhead, but anyone with the ability to detect magic can feel the negative energy from a ways off. The people's attention is suddenly grabbed when a black fin breaks the surface of the water, and the figure of an enormous shark- one that nearly takes up the entire pool itself, suddenly becomes very visible.

Shrieking, screaming- there's a lot of it, but the shark doesn't seem to be snapping at any limbs. Instead the people all start passing out at the same time, tendrils of human energy drawn out of them and into the Retriever.

This is especially bad for those still actually in the pool- it'll take a brave soul to play lifeguard when that monster is still in there!

Floating up above this scene is a blue haired girl with a gray and white Barrier Jacket and a pair of large basalt green shields on her arms, who's suddenly tapping her cheek a bit with the point of one of said shields. "You know... maybe I shouldn't have put it -in- the pool," Helix comments.

The whole point of the Retriever was to draw attention away from what they were doing, right?

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
A small child dressed in black floats next to Helix, twin blonde ponytails falling to her sides. "... well, we'd need to get these people out of the way anyways. Speaking of... um..."

Fate turns to Arf, who is hovering right next to her and looking away, arms crossed. Arf is totally not paying attention to what's going on right now, at least not until a nudge from Bardiche gets her attention.

"... please get those people out of our pool," quietly commands Fate. Arf frowns at Fate, and then frowns down at the pool. She takes Labyrinth Architect out of her pocket and activates it. Huge transluscent white rune-covered hands pick the people out of the pool, whether they've been drained or not, and sets them aside. Only the shark is left alone.

Then Arf promptly goes back to ignoring everything.

Fate mutters, "Thank you," before turning back to Helix.

"um... so... should we just airlift it now? i can cover you if someone comes."

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Haruna has not gone out for a sunday walk in a very long time. A very. Very. long time. She usually, for the past two years just lived, ate, breathed in her dorm, coming out for classes because she had to. Life was slowly getting better. She had friends... she even had a friend /over/. To play /video games/. She had someone to confide in--- even if that someone was a silver raven usually on her shoulder, and a super special friend!

BUT she was out, in the nice air and Corvus was on her shoulder. She actually had a reason to carry around a phone now because more than one person might actually try to /call/ her now.

She's walking down to the Arcade right now, to get some sort of super sweet desert probably from the Fruit's Parlor Crown. This changes...

"Ah--- Haruna...I sense a dark power nearby...." he says. Haruna stops. "Huh... where? Is it a Terribad.... is it.... is it Phantom?"

"No.. not. One of those. It feels like one of those dog things we encountered on the rooftop..." her says.

"Oh!" says Haruna. "Um. Over.. here." she says as she slips into an alleyway.

Rollin' Mirror Change....

There's a lovely transformation sequence that involes a seafoam green cloak and lots of bubbly hearts!

Cure Gull takes to the skies on seafoam green wings as the bow on her back turns into them. She jets off towards the direction of....

A Pool. A shark. In the pool.

And it's draining people. And there's too floating people. And one has two shields like Cure Boost!? Are they... Pretty Cures too? No. They're... they're not. Helping....

"Hey!" yells out Cure Gull. "You leave those people alone! Pools are meant to be enjoyed by everyone...! The Wings of hope that fly across the sea.... Cure Gull, Shall be your opponent!" she yells from far away.

Corvus sighs. "We gotta work on these speechs, they are terrible Gull."

"But But... my opponents! That's what they are!" she says exapsertedly.

Corvus just sighhhhhhs sufferingly.

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
The people are plucked safely from the pool, though without any intervention there is still energy being drawn from the people who were minutes before having fun in the summer sun. All of them seem to have passed out by this point, either from the energy draining itself or the mere shock unnatural.

"Good thinking," Helix comments to Fate, "Best to get them out of there before we move it than after." She starts floating downward towards the pool, "First I need to get it ready to move. If I can get ready before anyone shows up-"

Cue Cure Gull's arrival and long ranged shouting. Helix doesn't seem to be offended by the short speech at all, however. "Yep! They've had lots of fun with it and now it's our turn to enjoy it. Try and stop me if you want, but aren't they more important?" she asks, waving down at all the defenseless civilians clustered around the pool.

She continues flying slowly downward afterwards, blinking a little as she gets a closer look at the Cure and her silver raven. "...wait a minute! I know you! You helped us beat up that horrible lizard thing that was hurting Ao-chan. Thanks~!"

Suddenly this whole thing is a bit more awkward.

When she's about ten feet over the pool she looks down at the Retriever, which seems to be starting to get anxious now that it's current victims are pretty much tapped, starting to splash and thrash around in it's confined area, and snapping it's jaws a bit. "Good boy! You've done a great job so far! Now... why don't you distract that green haired girl over there?"

With a snap of it's job the Retriever obeys, it's large tail lifting out of the water and swiping through the air, sending a powerful wave of negative energy blasting torwards Cure Gull and blasting away the apartment complex's fancy gate in the process.

Helix shoots down and smacks the thing upside the head with a shield, "I said -DISTRACT- not try to kill her!"

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Fate watches as Cure Gull arrives and gives her speech. She actually manages to shout in response, just to cover the distance, though she could probably stand to shout a little louder. "Actually the pool rules says that people who don't live here can't use it unless they're guests," shouts Fate, "so it's not like they're letting everyone use it either. They're hogging it to themselves!"

That logic probably made sense in Fate's head at some point.

Fate watches as the shark splashes around at Cure Gull. It seems a bit over the top, but Fate said she'd help cover Helix.

Fate lowers herself to where she's hovering about ten feet off the ground. She frowns down at Cure Gull, saying, "I'm sorry, but we are taking this. I don't want to make a big deal out of it. Just stay out of our way."

Fate actually makes no effort to attack Cure Gull at this point, but she's got Bardiche in her hands and she doesn't exactly look non-threatening. Fate's just here to get in the way for now.

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Cure Gull has to blink a moment... Ao-chan...?

OH!

"Ah...!? You're right! HEY! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO STEAL A POOL!?" she says! She huffs and whinnnnnes. "You work for that stupid Eclipse organization, right!?" she asks. "I've been trying to speak to Desparia but... I... I guess she doesn't like me now. But... she helped me....too..." she says a little sadly.

"Nrg...! But... that's okay!" she says as she raises a fist up.

"I'll...."

"GULL WATCH OUT!" Corvus screams... "Oh!? Ahhhh!"

She sort of dashes to the right in mid air. Her wings don't flap... they just act like a magical jetpack of sorts. The beam of negative clips her wing and causes her to spin in midair as she frantically tries to regain balance.

"Yes! But they pay for that right..! You don't! If you lived here..."

"You could use the pool too!" she says.

Nrg...Water... if Cure Tide was here.....

Well her sister would be free! But also. She could kick that things butt.

But she is not Cure Tide. She's Cure Gull, and wind and feathers are her thing. Nrg..... two people. A shark. She's just a single Cure. She's talking a lot, but that's normal for a Cure. Maybe she can't stop this?

But she can make it more difficult.

Cure Gull does a flip in the shoots down toward's the ground as she holds up her mirror... <Time to Change~>

<Blueberry Waltz!~>

"Sparkling..Twinkle...Hurricaune...!" she calls out--- an ice cold wind being carried through the air with magical snow flakes and begining to spine around the poll...trying to freeze it---and hopefully that shark.. in an ice block!

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
After Helix tries clocking the shark with her shield it retaliates by snapping at her with its jaws, which prompts her to fly up higher into the air. "This really isn't going the way I thought it would," she mutters, mainly to herself but loudly enough that Fate might be able to catch it too.

"I want a pool, there's a pool right here, so I'm going to take it! It really is as simple as that. I wouldn't worry about these people too much, I'm sure they'll have a nice new one to replace it by the time summer is back." She gives a small shake of her head then, "Sorry, I've never met Desparia myself so I can't really help you get a hold of her or anything." And from the way things got shaken up in Eclipse she's not entirely sure she wants to meet her either, though the blue haired Device user will keep that bit to herself.

As Cure Gull avoids the majority of the dark energy she is torn- she's glad the girl isn't super hurt by it... but also glad she's at least being pressured- Helix doesn't want to have to fight her herself, for various reasons.

Unfortuantely her being mostly unharmed means she's able to retaliate with force and the icy winds shoot towards the pool, depositing snow all around it and freezing the water solid around the Shark Retriever! Helix herself isn't unharmed by the wind either, getting buffeted and tossed around enough that she's forced to land despite a well placed Round Shield- it broke the majority of the wind front but much of it simply swirled right around behind!

The Retriever struggles in the block of ice, and for a moment it seems mostly to no avail. Were it an actual shark or another kind of Youma it would be trapped.

But it isn't- the Retriever begins shifting, sucking down into the bottom of the shark-shaped hole in the ice before launching upward, pouring like ooze through the fin-shaped hole in the surface of the frozen water, launching skyward after revealing it's true form of pure shadowy negative energy before reforming back into the shape of a shark,

A shark that is now plummeting towards Cure Gull from above with powerful snapping jaws and multiple rows of sharp, jagged teeth.

Helix, meanwhile, has walked over to the center of the pool- able to actually stand on the surface now, and erected a spherical green energy barrier around herself. "Fate! Now's our chance- just keep her away for just a minute..!"

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
"Desperia?" says Fate. "Isn't she the one who got really mad and punished a lot of people?"

She doesn't really have time to argue about pool rights and liberties and paying for them before she's suddenly buffeted by icy cold winds. Since she's flying, there's nothing stopping that wind from tossing her all over the place. She flails wildly in the air before landing in a nearby tree. Her eyes have little spirals in them and stars dance over her head. Ouch!

Arf is suddenly by Fate's side, though her expression is still one largely of disinterest. She pulls Fate out of the tree and brushes off her barrier jacket. Fate mutters a word of thanks before floating back into the air. Once she's safe, Arf lets out a big, heavy sigh before flying off again.

As Helix sets up her green barrier, Fate flies in between Helix and Cure Gull. Notcing that the Retriever is intending to land on Gull, Fate decides to make its job a little bit easier.

"Lightning Bind!" she shouts, and manacles made out of yellow electric energy form and try to close around Gull's wrists and ankles, the intent being to root her in one place.

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Blueberry Waltz frowns... she throws up an ice wall in front of her this jumps backwards and spins on a foot for a moment...perfect poise~! Though soon after the henshin fades away. The youma crashes into her ice wall, which hopefully buries it in ice just long enough to frown.... and listen to those words....

Did...Desperia get mad?...over her?... She feels guilty. without Desperia teaching her to control her old darkness powers.... the darkness would had rooted more into her core being....

Corvus kind of squints. "... I think I know why these feel familar now...." he says to Cure Gull.

"...that Riventon fellow..." he says.

Riventon!? Gull blushes a bit. She WAS going to ask that guy out... but that was... Scorn times. She bets... he hates her too.

Oh... Oh no! She lets herself get side tracked she manages to dodge two of the binds---but the one of her feet stick. Oh no...! She flails her hands about....

"Nrg..." she huffs. "This thing is gonna eat me if I don't act...!" she says.

She spins her PreBrace wheel as the heart on it lights up..."GULL WINDY PUCNHING!" she calls out, and throws out a burst of wind and feathers straight ahead, trying to give distance while she can't exactly move on her feet or wings at the moment.

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
"-Something- really got her angry, that's for sure," Helix replies to Fate, not saying too much more on the subject for now since she didn't know very many of the whys, only the whats of Eclipse's reorganization.

The Retriever smashes into the wall of ice with a tremendous crash, momentarily deforming into a puddle pressed against it. When it regains it's shape it thrashes against the wall, it's large shadowy jaws snapping and shattering the ice one bite at a time, dismantling it at a terrifying pace.

If Cure Gull isn't quick about getting out of those binds she's going to be in for some serious trouble! The two young girls with their eyes on the pool may not seem overtly threatening, but the Youma has now found it's target and seems intent on doing it's job, even if it is a fish out of water.

It's too bad Helix is on the other side of that wall too, or she'd definitely have noticed the blushing when Riventon's name is mentioned- as it is she'll have to leave the potential gossip gathering up to Fate!

She takes a deep breath and then begins slowly flying upward- or trying to, anyway. Her eyes close and she fights against the tremendous weight inside her barrier, pouring more and more magic into the attempt until slowly she begins to rise into the air.

Her energy bubble holds, and as she slowly rises up above the ground a half-sphere of the ground itself uproots with her, leaving a perfect half-ball of dirt missing where the pool once was.

It seems to take all her effort and concentration to keep this up, however- she isn't exactly the strongest flier.

Down below the floating girl and pool-inclusive chunk of the ground are numerous passed out civilians- it might be dangerous to just drop the whole thing now!

Meanwhile wind and feathers blasts into the Retriever, slowing it down as it chomps through the wall of ice. It's form seems to destabilize a little, now having taken several powerful magical hits from the Pretty Cure.

It's not quite finished yet, however, and responds with in kind, opening it's jaws wide before belching forth a truly enormous beam of negative energy at Cure Gull.

Yep- that's Riventon flavored, all right!

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Fate's binding is being resisted, and she knows that she only has a short amount of time before Cure Gull breaks free. The Retriever is still trying to attack Gull and get through the Ice Wall, but it's taking a while and Fate still has to find a way to distract her long enough for Helix to get away.

"You're really determined to save that pool, but we're really determined to take it!" shouts Fate. She wont back down easily! She wants to swim, darnit!

As the Retrievier sharkmonster chomps through the ice, Fate tries to break the ice in her own way. She aims the tip of Bardiche at Cure Gull, and Bardiche announces, <Photon Lancer>

Four yellow electric orbs fly from the tip of Bardiche, circling around each other and weaving between each other as they race towards and smash against the ice. Fate keeps this up as a constant bombardment, trying to drill through the ice to get at Cure Gull. It's only a matter of time.

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Cure Gull nrrrrrg and closes her eyes and summons her wings....and begins 'gunning' it upwards as hard as she can. Eventually, the binds break, and she manages to evade Fate's Photon Lancer because she's just suddenly flying straight up TOO fast. She has to come to a dead stop and it causes her to loop. She frowns...

"Just because....you might win anyways...doesn't mean...I won't give up...." she says through gritted teeth. Okay. It's time to take care of this monster.

"Wings of Hope...TURN INTO A SACRED POWER!" she calls out. "Lovely PreBrace!~"

"Pretty Cure...!" she claps the heart on her prebrace, and begins to wind her hands up, energy gathering like a dynamo before it forms a set of wings over her head as she works them upwards. "HOPEFUL FEATHER SHOOT!" she calls out as she punches the wings into the creature...

Before raising her hand...

"Wings of Hope...Return to the heavens...!" then there's a giant purification explosion behind her.

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
The large blast of energy from the Retriever passes just below Cure Gull as she manages to break out of Fate's binding. The Retriever manages to smash through the wall of ice just afterward with all of the help it's getting from Fate, only for Cure Gull to suddenly be high up in the air out of it's reach. The shark Youma shifts around, looking ready to use it's tail to leap up into the air after her.

Only right as it's about to try the wings crash into it, the purifying energy exploding through and around it, eating away at the negative energy until it's all gone, leaving only the gemlike core of the monster to clatter to the ground, glowing softly with the energy stolen from people who were swimming in the pool before.

Helix continues her slow ascent, starting to move to the side as well, moving the pool and chunk of ground it's on slowly towards what may well be it's new home. "It's... going to work!" she manages to gasp out, needing to focus a bit too much on just keeping afloat to be able to say very much.

The fate of the Retriever doesn't bother her too much considering it's primary use was as a distraction- she'll leave it up to Fate to gather the core and that energy if she can.

"Better try to hurry..." she grunts, straining against the weight.

She hopes Cure Gull doesn't have enough in her for another large magic blast..!

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
Fate watches as the sharkyouma falls. She frowns. Well, that's one ally down.

Arf sits down on top of Helix's pooltheft bubble. She's supplying magic to reinforce the shielding but her pose is just incredibly lazy, like she absolutely does not care. "I wanna go for a swim," she lazily whines. Well, she seems to care at least a little bit.

Fate glances between the fallen core and Cure Gull. If the fighting continues, they might drop the pool! Fate has to keep Gull away from Helix... but if she doesn't pick up that core it'll be a problem when they get back to Eclipse...

Fate telepathically contacts Arf. ~Do you think you could distract Gull for a bit?~

~Nah.~

~W-what?~

~I don't want to.~

Fate blinks. It's not really like Arf to refuse a direct order. Something is very wrong. Maybe that Lost Logia really is a problem... What should Fate do?

Well for one, she needs to focus on the fight in front of her. Bardiche changes forms into a scythe, the golden energy blade extending from Bardiche's tip. She through the air to Cure Gull and swings downward at the Pretty Cure, trying to keep the Cure aggro on her.

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
The retriever is gone, purified into oblivion! She can now turn her attention to the three others----

That Dog Woman doesn't really seem to be a threat. So. She just has to deal with the girl with twin tails. And that other person she met that one time to go kick a youma's butt for Ao-Chan.

"Yo...You may have helped Ao-Chan! But that doesn't excuse this theft!" she says throwing her hands up in some kind of martial arts pose, but then she blinks.

"....why is your dog-neko..." she's not sure of that term. "Not helping?..." she asks.

This is suddenly of WAY more concern for her for some reason.

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
Afs weight on top of the shield isn't that much, especially not when compared to the pool within it. But every little bit makes a big difference when you're already struggling at the very extent of your abilities. While still flying forward Helix actually starts slowly dropping back towards the ground.

"Not...funny!" She comments amidst the straining, her eyes squeezed shut and her face making an expression that actually is rather silly were one to look at it. ~Faaaaate, make her stoooooop~, she whines to Fate telepathically with their connection between Bulwark and Bardiche.

She had hoped to get a good distance away before casting the spell to get them out of there- preferably with Cure Gull on the retreat herself. But as it is she simply can not afford to float around like a giant target when the Pretty Cure is capable of her incredible ice and wind magic. Helix doesn't know whether or not she can change forms multiple times in a row, but in her mind she's envisioning her shield getting turned into a floating ice cube and dropping to the ground and shattering.

Cue visuals of Chibi-Fate and Chibi-Helix crying around the remains of a shattered pool on the ground.

~I'm going to cast the teleportation spell now, but it's going to take longer than normal. Try to keep her busy! Fight her, talk to her, it doesn't matter; just be ready to fly through when it's ready- I know you're way faster than she is.~ Helix relays to Fate. The flying, sinking girl with in-ground swimming pool attached slows to a stop, managing to keep from falling any further.

White energy starts to glow around her then, the girl pushed to her limits to try and keep flying, the magical shield that's keeping the pool airborn powered, as well as casting a difficult and complicated version of a teleportation spell. It's to her credit that she's managing it at all, but she's effectively helpless as she does, both mentally and magically at her limit.

Hopefully Fate is good with her distractions!

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
"She's not a dog-neko," says Fate, quietly. "Maybe you'd call her... um... inu-mimi? inu-otome? No that's not right... um... um..." Fate is distracted for a moment while rubbing her chin.

Arf, who hears this, decides to interject with "Hey, what do you mean I'm not a lady?! Quit calling me weird names!"

Fate glances back helplessly at Euphemia. She doesn't know either! After a moment she decides to respond with, "The proper term is Familiar." She nods, firmly, as if that settles the question.

Oh right, the question was actually about something else entirely, as Fate soon realizes. "As for why she's not helping... well.. that's complicated... sortof... She found this new artifact and..."

"You don't have to tell her that, Fate-chan!" shouts Arf again, interjecting. Fate doesn't reveal anymore, instead pointing her scythe at Gull threateningly.

Arf hears Euphemia's complaint and responds with a long dramatic SIGH. Instead of sitting on top of the shield she flies further upward, shouting, "Chain Bind!" as magical circles appear beneath her feet and in front of her hands. An assortment of chians flies out from the circle and wraps around the shield, trying to hold it up so that Euphemia can focus on other things.

Fate sweatdrops at this, but hey, at least Arf is helping this time!

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Cure Gull blinks. They found this artifact and then....!?

"Hey....! If something is affecting your friend so bad, you should do something about!" she says. "That happened with Corvus.....!"

The bird on her shoulder raises a wing. Waves shamefully--picard facepalming with his other wing.

"And he become some really bad and evil for /300 years!/... do you really want that to happen to your friend!?" she says with a huff.....!

Familiar?

"What's so familar about her!?" she asks.

Fate seems to be doing a good job of distraction without even needing to exert any energy to do so.

Euphemia Barchetta has posed:
As Fate and Gull exchange banter, honestly the best kind of distraction that could have happened since even fighting means potential stray shots, Helix continues working on the altered and empowered Dimensional Transfer spell. Arfs chains means she doesn't have to expend energy trying to fly anymore and even if it's an odd way to help it does, letting the girl focus more on completing the spell.

And it does complete, the white glow around Helix fading as a brilliant white pillar of light appears in the air- more than wide enough to hold the bubble of energy holding the pool up. "Fate..! Arf..! Time to go..!" she shouts, having to take deep breaths between each word, a droplet of sweat running down her forehead from the exertion of the casting- it's a good thing she didn't have to fight too much personally or she might have run out of mana and just passed out!

She begins flying again, once more taking on the weight of the pool and the dirt around it before flying forward into the pillar of light- hopefully not having to force her way out of Arfs chains in the process!

When she reaches it both she and her enormous cargo will glow brightly before seemingly winking out existence with a small flash.

Somewhere in an UMBRA storage facility there's a small commotion at the arrival of an unexpected delivery.

Fate T. Waldia has posed:
"Well I've known her all her life, so... I guess we're really familiar?" says Fate. The way she says it doesn't seem to indicate a lot of confidence. Cure Gull is asking a lot of tough questions! Fate is stumped, but she tries!!!

When the pillar of light appears, Arf flies towards it and drags the pool with her through the chains. She actually seems kindof impatient about it, actually. Maybe she just wanted to get it over with?!

Fate looks back at Helix and Arf, and then turns back to Gull. "Well... um... thanks for warning me about the artifact. I'll keep an eye on it!"

She turns away from Gull and flies towards the pillar of light, trying to get out of here before Gull tries to stop them again!

Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Cure Gull blinks. "Hey, wait, where are you-----"

Corvus whispers something to her.

"AH!? RIGHT THEY WERE TRYING TO STEAL THAT POOL! HEY GET BACK HERE!" she yells as she takes off after Fate with her wings...!

But before she can get close enough, they are gone. She crosses her arms and hrmphs!? Oh. Right. She looks down...

"Corvus are those people gonna be okay...?" she asks. Corvus nods. "Energy draining like that is temporary it's not like. Uh. They stole thier souls?" he says sheepishly.

"Oh.. Okay. So not that bad." she says. She kind of ums. "I'll uh. Go call. The police now then...." then she flies off to go do that!
