Synopsis: | Princess Runealy calls 'Miss White'. A favor is asked, and a contact made. |
Cast of Characters: | Hannah Sharpe, Runealy Waldia |
- Runealy Waldia has posed:
Earlier, the alien princess had no idea why in the world anyone would identify themselves with a string of numbers and advice to 'call me if you need a favor.' Several days after that, she discovered what phones are. Hinote had taught her the basics, and while the vast majority of the phone's operations still elude her (Runealy at one point thought she was "receiving calls from someone named Low Battery but they will not talk to me, what do I do about that?")... the encounter with Riventon had proved to her just how valuable these things are.
And so, nestled in the dim candle light of the abandoned store during early evening hours, Runealy has taken the bizarre step of transforming before using a phone. She taps in the numbers for one Miss White, presses the Call button, and waits.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Elsewhere, Hannah Sharpe is deep within Tomoe Labs, grinning as she stares at one of the grief seeds being analyzed. As much as they've hit nothing but dead ends on how to utilize the things, she can just /smell/ the power buried within. Just as she's about to take a few more readings with Raging Tempest, her burner phone rings.
Pausing, she double checks her anti-recognition field (tm), and then flicks open her phone. Her smile is in her voice as she speaks up.
"Good evening! This is Miss White speaking, what may I do for you?" Comes the collected, almost secretarial voice of the woman who'd so recently robbed a bank. At least there's no holds or elevator music to listen to.
- Runealy Waldia has posed:
The Princess speaks with a far calmer and melodramatic tone than she has in person. Being physically separated from who you're talking to makes it so much easier to act 'cool.' So when Miss White answers the phone, Runealy talks to her with none of the shakiness and fright seen in their earlier encounters.
"Good evening. It probably won't be a matter of 'what'... but rather, 'whether' you will still do something for me. We didn't fight directly when you were busy with banditry, but that was more circumstance than anything." She pauses to let her voice be recognized from that day, and from the encounter at the park. "So this entire call might be a fool's errand. Would it be reasonable to assume your offer of a favor has been withdrawn for... obvious reasons?"
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
There's silence on the other end of the phone, before the woman gives a laugh that's somewhere between exhausted, missing screws, and amused. When Miss White finally calms down, she takes a deep breath, leaning back on a nearby counter.
"Ah, Hime-chan if I am not mistaken! Let me put things bluntly for you: I am many things, but I am not the kind of woman to renege on my word. You saved my best friend. Whether you oppose me in my goals or not, I owe you a debt. Understand?" Then there's an audible shrug.
"And frankly, you seemed to be fighting for what you believe in. I can respect that. Now then, all of that aside, please. What can I do for you?"
- Runealy Waldia has posed:
Back in the store, Runealy blinks. She's taken aback by the response she can overhear, then relieved when Miss White insists the deal is still valid. "Thank you, then. This one should be easy to repay."
She pauses to gather her words, thinking on how to say this. "I won't waste it asking for 'why'. A half dozen people asked you that question, and I was among them, and you must have some reason for not telling us. A reason worth ignoring us even if we asked a million times. Instead, what I need..."
Runealy hesitates, weighing what she's about to ask for. A moment later, her resolve is steeled: "Is your friend's phone number. You've seen as well as I have, that Tokyo is dangerous. I may have need for a healer... an EMT, as you called her. I promise that I will not call her to any place that still has monsters about, and that she will be paid fairly. May I have her number?"
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah smirks. Indeed, they'd all asked. She'd offered half-truths and cards clutched to her chest in a death grip. But then Rune goes on, and finally silence.
She considers it, long and hard. "...You know, the previous matter would have been easier to ask. Well, I suppose I cannot say no. She would slap me if I declined. Alright. I shall text you her number." A pause.
"I will ask one thing in return. If for whatever reason she is assaulted by monsters while healing you, protect her, and call me on this number. She is precious to me. Agreed?"
- Runealy Waldia has posed:
"You don't even have to ask. She's important on so many levels." The Princess calmly agrees to this condition. "After all... she is important to you as a friend. She is important to Tokyo as a healer. I imagine she is important to..." Her voice pauses, and it takes a few seconds of notable silence before she manages to speak with the sweeping dramatic tone again. "...her family as well. If I can call you, I will. If I can only move to protect her because there is no time to press so many buttons, I will. I'm not asking for this number to use her, or treat her as something expendible to be thrown away at my convenience. She is a person, a good person, and an important person. Three reasons to care about her safety, in addition to those you and I already mentioned."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah considers once more, and lets out a bitter little chuckle. "Well, your words /seem/ honest enough. If you had not saved her, frankly, I would have told you to hike it. Yes, yes, be reasonable of course. Her living is my priority. I will spare you threats, I owe you more than that. Besides, I am sure you can use your imagination." An audible hand wave.
"Fine. Agreed." Pause, then a chuckle. "Strange. Can you not afford medical bills? Ahh, well, not my business. Stay safe, hmm? There are far worse things out there than an ambitious little bank robber like me. If you ever want to trade information, or have a job...well, I do freelance occasionally so long as it is not against my interests."
- Runealy Waldia has posed:
"No, I imagine the threats are there regardless. Getting a healer hurt or killed, whether through malice or negligence... it sounds as though the people of Tokyo look upon that just as poorly as people anywhere else do. I won't bring her in to danger, and I will see to it she is paid fairly for these calls." The Princess takes all of this pretty calmly if her voice is any indication.
As for talk of side jobs, she's glad she's on the phone for that. Miss White can't see her raised, surprised eyes. It takes a few more seconds before the overwhelmed, surprised Princess can fake her melodrama again. "...Yes... I suppose we'll see. You seem to stick to your word, which does weigh against your... banditry. I will keep in touch. Be well, Miss White... and some day, I hope to hear your reasons. Your heart seems very complex."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah only laughs at the end. "...Enough so that it hurts sometimes. Good evening, Princess-san." Ker-click! Hannah slumps back, frowning.
Being in her 'evil' guise always makes her think far too much.
