Synopsis: | Ami Mizuno says, love letters include texts from boys apparently. |
Cast of Characters: | Ami Mizuno, Daisuke Hansuke |
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke got a little sleep when he got to his dorm room. He left his window opened just enough for a small black cat to enter from the sill. He promised. It made him feel a little... off. But. He didn't want his mere existence to make anyone uncomfortable and right now he was at least feeling that from Luna. Ami? Not so sure there.
He sat down at his desk as he was dressed in PJs. He plugged his phone into his computer and then brought up the numbers. Oh... right...
He went and dug the number out of his pants pockets and entered it. He pulled up a window on his computer and sent a text. It was late- but not that late. That weird part of the evening where someone might still be up.
Texting.
Unknown Number: Hey, this is Daisuke. Are you up?
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami somehow managed to duck out of facing all of the Senshi at once, for the evening. She came home to an empty home, and tried calling her dad to ask his advice. As usual, he didn't pick up. So she left him a message, "Hey, dad, it's me. I ... guess you're not in. Love you."
Hanging up, Ami sighed and stared at the big house, then shook her head and padded up to her bedroom to take a bath and then change into her PJs. The text came somewhere in the midst off all of that.
It's nearly half an hour before she even notices there's a message on her phone. Excited that it might be her father, Ami rushes to pick up the phone, and then freezes when she reads the message. "... oh," she murmurs to herself.
"... oh," she repeats once more, just for good measure. Blushing severely, Ami put the phone down and moved to her closet to finish getting dressed for bed. But the phone was still gleefully informing her she had an unanswered text by the time she curled up in bed. Turning out the lights, she faced away from the phone to try and sleep.
Fifty minutes after his text, she turns over suddenly and grabs her phone, fingers flying across the keys as she stores his number with his name, then sends a reply.
Ami Mizuno: Yea. You?
What a dumb question.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke is sitting at his desk still. In the meantime he's been browsing his e-mails and replying to various things. Chairity drives were kicking up afterall and many people wanted him to help. He'd pondered saying no. Right now he just---- he wasn't in a right frame of mind. He'd never felt this way before. It was scary. So he didn't answer the e-mails. He'd handle them in the morning when maybe his mood was a little more chipper.
Oh! His little text gadget said he had a reply.
He pulled up the window and replied.
Daisuke Hansuke: Yeah. Probably going to be up for a while longer before I try bed again. Not feeling right. Are you well?
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami lays back in bed, staring at the ceiling, laying her phone out on the bed beside her. "He probably went to bed," she reasons with herself. After all, nearly an hour had passed since he first texted her.
Rolling up and out of bed, she pads towards her desk, only to hear the chime of an incoming text. Leaping back to her bed, she grabs the phone and reads the text, then blushes again and continues back to her desk--this time phone in hand.
Sitting down, she rereads the text once more. Ami reaches up to push wet hair behind her ear, then decides on her reply.
Ami Mizune: I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I'm mostly okay, except my arms are very itchy.
She accidentally sends it early as she reaches to scratch her arms, then scowls and stares at the phone. Should she send another? Or should she wait. Definitely wait. That's the right thing to do. Right?
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke is staying in the window now, so his replies come quicker.
Daisuke Hansuke: Ugh. That must be horrible. Do you have something for it?
He asks about Ami's immediate issue first.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami practically jumps when her phone chime and buzzes in her hand. She rubs her nose, then har arms again, then bites her lip and writes a reply.
Ami Mizuno: It's not that bad! Just itchs. My mom says I just need to stop worrying about things so much. Anxiety. Some people get ulcers; I get a rash. What about you?
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke reads the message and feels a little bad. Is that his fault?
Daisuke Hansuke: I'm sorry if my issues are the cause of that. I can leave you alone now if you want, if you'd rather not talk.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami drifts a little while she waits for the response, then startles again when it comes. She stares at his response, then reads what she sent him and blinks. "Why did I even say that?" she groans out unhappily. Grabbing her phone, she wanders back out of her bedroom towards the kitchen. Obviously she needs a snack. On the way, she texts him again.
Ami Mizuno: No, it's not you! I don't even know why I told you that. I'm sorry. Why aren't you feeling right?
She's asked the question twice already and he keeps avoiding it in favor of focusing on her. What does that mean? Ami considers the problem as she digs through her pantry. Finding a package of rice cakes, she pulls one out, then nibbles on it as she goes to curl up with her phone on the couch.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke is still sitting in the glow of a flat screen monitor. He's dimmed it a little in the evening. He yawns a bit. Not bed time yet for him. He's being quick about replies now. It's easier when his phone is connected to the computer- but it also means he's more verbose- you type faster- easier than on a touch screen.
Daisuke Hansuke: I feel like I'm starting to be a bother by just existing now.
He pauses a moment.
Daisuke Hansuke: Luna doesn't seem to like me much. Does she know something I don't?
Daisuke Hansuke: I guess I'm not used to feeling like I'm not wanted. I just do my best to help people and that's all I can really do in the end.
Daisuke Hansuke: Now I feel horrible for just dumping that all out. ugh. A moment I need to get a glass of water.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami reads the first text and starts to reply, but then three more flash across her screen in rapid succession. The girl's eyes widen as she takes it all in, but she counts to thirty before replying again, just in case he decides to send one more.
Half way through writing, she pauses and stares at her phone in a panic. "I can't say that," she mumbles, then starts erasing with one hand while the other absently scratches at her arm. "I don't ... even know what to say. Usagi-chan would know. Oh no, how did I wind up like this?" She hesitates a moment, then sends a very hasty reply.
Ami Mizuno: You don't bother me.
Then she squeaks and sets the phone aside on the end table before diving under a throw blanket to hide and munch on her snack. "Why is this happening to me?" she asks herself unhappily.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke is in the bathroom, gulping down a glass of water from the sink. He places the glass back on the sink and walks back to the computer. 'You don't bother me'. He head tilts. Did....? Ugh. Yeah now he feels super bad.
Daisuke Hansuke: I'm sorry. I wasn't infering you. Just. I'm sorry. Let's talk about something else.
Two sorries. ugh. He head desks a moment.
Daisuke Hansuke: So. You. Did you find something old too? Like the Staff?
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami's phone buzzing on the endtable gets her attention, but she doesn't go to it right away. She's too busy imagining, with horror, all the responses he might give. Once she's finished her rice cake, Ami decides she can't hide any longer, and reaches out to grab the phone again.
That is not the reply she had decided was most likely.
Why are boys so complicated!?
Ami Mizuno: I meant ... nevermind. No, Luna and S.M. found me. But I can't talk about that.
So what can she talk about? Ami stares at the floor for a moment, then gets an idea.
Ami Mizuno: What school do you go to?
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke thuds....right....can't tell him anything. Bleeh. He stares for a bit.
Daisuke Hansuke: Verone Academy. I have a dorm here. Luna should know where it is now. I have the window opened for her a little. I also got some cat treats.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami tilts her head a little at that. "Verone," she notes quietly. "Very expensive," she murmurs. "No wonder he has the time and interest for all of that charity work." She smiles a little, then texts back.
Ami Mizuno: Dorm life does not sound fun, but Verone is impressive! Luna likes kitty treats. She'll come around to you.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke texts back. Typing. Okay this isn't a response he has to hop around or feel bad about replying too. Good! He gets comfortable again.
Daisuke Hansuke: My dad's alumni. It's alright. Better than staying at home at least. It would be better to not have a talking cat that hates me around!
Daisuke Hansuke: What school do you go to, Ami-chan?
Ami-chan?
Daisuke Hansuke: I would guess Infinity?
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami-chan!?
The blue-haired girl stares at his informality with a rising blush, then sets her phone back down and walks away again. "So rude!" she says, then glances at her phone again. "So ..." friendly. Easy to talk to. Easy to trust. "Why do you do this to me?" she grumbles, then fetches a cup of water from the kitchen.
Ami returns to her phone again a few moments later and runs her thumb gently over the familiarization of her name. Does that mean she can respond in kind?
Ami Mizuno: Just a boring public school. Not much challenge.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke probably wasn't thinking! Ami can probably beat his butt in Go tutoring later. It's late and he's tired because SilMil nightmares suck so hard- proper ettiquite and talk isn't on his mind right now anyways this late.
Daisuke Hansuke: Public school isn't boring. The only thing different is the athmosphere, really. That's what you pay for. And you know, to live at school. That's it I suppose?
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
"That's it," Ami repeats his words quietly, but with a little sarcasm in her tone. She glances up at the clock, then squints a little. Speaking of, she has school in the morning. Wandering back towards her bedroom, she texts him once again.
Ami Mizuno: I suppose that and the better programs for music, art, sports, and higher paid teachers.
This really isn't the topic she wanted to be discussing. Not that she minds talking about learning, but they aren't; they're talking about places where learning is supposed ot take place. So she decides to try again.
Ami Mizuno: You are not a bother to anyone. Wanting to help people is really admirable.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke is good at the subtext game and he sort of winces. Ugh. yeah. sometimes he sucks with this kind of thing. He guesses she has a point---
Oh thank god she said something else maybe he can forget that last point existed. QUICKLY! PRETEND REALLY HARD!
Nrg, he can't.
Daisuke Hansuke: Yeah, you're right. I just think my head's a little jumbled overall. heh.
Daisuke Hansuke: I just feel bad. I don't want you to get in trouble with your friends.
Daisuke Hansuke: ....so if your friends decide I don't need locked in a magic puzzle box, do you wanna continue to teach me Go? I enjoyed that. It was fun!
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami sighs as she slides under the nice warm coverlet on her bed. The messages fly in, and she waits for him to stop before trying to read them all. "Oh," she murmurs quietly, then sighs and puts her fingers over her eyes. Exhaustion is starting to get to her. After a moment, she types out a reply.
Ami Mizuno: They're not going to lock you in a box. But they will want to make sure you are on our side. Also, I made a mistake with Go. Black should go first. Sorry.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke could make a joke about cheating. But he won't.
Daisuke Hansuke: Well. Now I feel silly for getting upset in that online match earlier.
He has to actually absorb that first bit though. He actually doesn't reply for a small pause period.
Daisuke Hansuke: ...sides?... lemme guess. Can't tell me either.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami sighs at that response, then rubs her nose before offering reply.
Ami Mizuno: You've seen youma. Sides. you know: good vs. evil.
Ami stifles a yawn, then sends one more.
Ami mizuno: I am getting tired. I have school tomorrow.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke blinks. huh?
Daisuke Hansuke: Youma...? Good and Evil...? nrg. fine. yeah. Night. Sleep well Mizuno-san.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Back to Mizuno-san. There is a long moment where Ami stares at the response from Daisuke with a little bit of sadness that she can't quite explain, even to herself. Another yawn is stifled, then she glances out the window towards the moon. "I wish Usagi were here," she says ot herself. "She'd know what to say."
After a moment, Ami groans and hides under her blankets. In thee dark beneath her coverlet, she texts him back again.
Ami Mizuno: Are you going to be okay?
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke sighs and just looks at that reply. He really wants to answer that honestly. He does. He tries to find a way to say it that isn't just 'I'll probably never feel okay ever again' like he was thinking in that alley....
Daisuke Hansuke: ...two weeks ago I didn't need to worry about this. I didn't know what youma were. I was pretty sure of who I was and wanted to be. Now. I still don't really know what youma are. I feel almost like I might be someone else at times. I have dreams that don't feel like my own. I had to lie to a police officer because I was in an alleyway and I couldn't find the strength to get to my feet- I had to say some punk attacked so they'd take me to the hospital. I'd never lied to anyone in my life before. It felt so awful. --- and then I look at you... and your friend.... and her friend.... and I feel like you all.. are connected to this feeling of---- missing something I've felt for a long time--- and now you're all needing to pass some kind of judgement on me? What happens if you all decide I'm not trustworthy? Do you stop talking to me? Do I just keep away from you all?......
Daisuke Hansuke: I just feel so alone and scared and it hurts a whole lot.
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
A war of emotions riots through Ami as she reads the text. "Poor Daisu-kun," she murmurs to herself, then sighs and closes her eyes. How does she even reply to that? "So much I want to tell you."
Ami Mizuno: It's not really like that, but I guess I know why it feels that way. I won't stop talking to you. But I have to tell them about you, and they may ask me not to tell some things to you. Until now, we've all just not said anything to others. But you are not alone, Daisu-kun. You have me, even if my friends don't want to tell you anything. I am not going to stop being your friend just because they are nervous. I'll just be more cautious not to make a mistake in what I tell you.
Ami stares at the text after she's sent it, and then has a brief attack of panic as she realizes what she's done.
Ami Mizuno: Sorry! I meant Hansuke-san! Sorry!
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke guesses he feels a little reassured by this. He is rubbing his eyes a bit now though. This is tiring in it's own way.
Daisu-kun? Usagi called him something similiar, right?
Daisu-kun: (Yes, his name is now showing up that way.) Nah, that works well.
Daisu-kun: I understand... I'm going to try to sleep now. I'll be fine for tonight. I have a lot of E-mails I need to reply to tommrow morning thou, related to work I do. I'll try to text you when I'm done, okay?
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami blushes even harder, but she can't hide under the blankets: she's already there! So instead she just squeezes her eyes shut, then counts to thirty to try and calm down. After a moment, she starts another text.
Ami Mizuno: Okay. I hope you sleep well, and that there are no nightmares. Good night ... Daisu-kun.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke just gives a little small smile to himself. At least this made him feel a little better about this to a degree. That's something.
Daisu-Kun: Night, Mizuno-chan~
You can almost hear the teasing snark in the text. And then he logs off! To bed! As Promised!
- Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami lets out a quiet squeal as she falls back onto her pillow, arms and legs splayed in her defeat. She thumbs her phone off and drops it on the nightstand, then rolls over to turn out the light. "Sleep sweet, Daisu-kun," she whispers quietly, before settling in to try and do just that, herself.
