Date of Scene: 08 January 2016
Location: Uminari City - Residential District

Cast of Characters: Gaofele Doiru, Hinote Kagari

Hinote Kagari has posed:
<PHONE> You text Gaofele Doiru: Hey Gao! *pause* Hey. I have a weird question. Got a moment?

<PHONE> A text from Gaofele Doiru at Thu Jan 07 22:34:14 2016: Sure -- what's up?

<PHONE> You text Gaofele Doiru: So. Uh. For no reason. Are phoenixes a thing in Waldia?

<PHONE> A text from Gaofele Doiru at Thu Jan 07 22:46:58 2016: Phoenixes? I think I've heard rumors and stories of firebirds in Waldia, but mostly as 'wait, was that a bird or a flame?' glances. Nothing quite as robust as the Earth stories about phoenixes. Why the question?

<PHONE> You text Gaofele Doiru: I see. I see. Do any animals talk in Waldia, Gao? Oh-- no reason... at all...until. I figure out.. if this is a thing...

<PHONE> A text from Gaofele Doiru at Thu Jan 07 22:55:28 2016: ...this is starting to sound like something I should see in person. Again, tales and rumors; nothing that's frequent, much less proven. *pause* Just double-checking, are you /sure/ you're not snow-addled? The snow here in Tokyo is broken up enough that we're not likely to be glare-dazed, but by ordinary Waldian standards this isn't normal. *pause* ...then again, /we're/ not exactly normal either, are we? ^^;

<PHONE> You text Gaofele Doiru: Yes. Yes. I think I need you here Gao. Do you know where I live? I'm going to give you the address. <Hino gives Gao an address somewhere in Uminari City.>

Hinote would wait for Gao to show up. Hinote was alone this evening- Dad was on tour again until the end of next month. Mom was working. So it was a perfect time to usher Gao upstairs. Hinote's place was an expensive townhouse. Nice furniture. Upscale decor. Hinote's room was a good size. Why the hell was he spending all his time sleeping in the abandoned store with you guys a lot of the time?

"Okay there." says Hinote pointing to a tiny red bird all huddled up in a 'nest' consisting of a pajama top and a few socks. It was apparently sleeping.

"It went to sleep after I made it the 'nest'. It was kind of talking to me before that? She wondered why I was so warm and also why I seemed Waldian but wasn't and she found it really odd. She talks- but not a lot?" he scratched his head.

"...Should we wake her up?" he asked confused. "This is bizzare." he insists.

Gaofele Doiru has posed:
The sight of Hinote's home would probably attract more attention from Gaofele, but his fellow knight's messages have the forester's mind preoccupied. Asking about phoenixes and talking animals, two things that are frequently considered to be daydreams and other mis-sightings.

As rare (or rarer) than a Guardian Knight, really.

Gao crouches to get a closer look at the little bird. Certainly didn't look like any species, from Earth or Waldia, that he was familair with. And that coloration does look somewhat like flame...

"Where did you find her?" he finally asks.

Hinote Kagari has posed:
The bird is all huddled up. It's red. Has lovely plumage. Seems to weirdly sparkle sometimes, and some long tail feathers. Hinote shrugs. "She said she's been following 'my heat' for a while. I dunno. She said through the portal. I don't remember seeing any birds." he shrugs.

"Well. Not sparkly red obvious birds. That also talk. And seem to enjoy.....'how warm' I am." he mutters.

"This isn't going to get my in any trouble is it?" he asks curiously. Waldian laws are weird.

He leans a finger down. "Hey... bird. Hey...."

"Wake up..."

After another gentle pokes the bird yawns and opens it's eyes. "Big sky fireball up already!?" it asks.

Hinote has to think on this question for a moment. "No it isn't morning yet. This is Gao. He's like a woodsman."

He motions to Gao.

The bird looks up at him-- and blinks once. No words.

"Woods cold right now." she insists.

Gaofele Doiru has posed:
"That they are," Gao agrees, nodding to the little bird. A long flight for its size, during winter? No wonder she's so tired!

He looks over at Hinote. "I don't think the laws cover animals of rumor," the forester shrugs. "No word on firebirds or talking animals, so... as long as she follows you willingly, I guess it's alright?"

He looks at the bird again. "Say, what do you eat?" he inquires.

Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari bends down a bit. "Tell Gao here what you told me." he says.

The bird squints. "I felt something reallly warm! And I followed it! And it lead me here. He's warm. Really warm!" she says.

Hinote sort of sighs.

The bird answers Gao's question. "Bugs! Juicy crawly ones!" she insists.

Hinote thinks. "I can't just feed her pizza, can I?"

"What's a pee-za?" she asks.

"Warm food. Don't worry. Bugs. Nrg. Gonna need to go to a pet shop for those this time of year. Not a big deal. Just need to find... crickets. Maybe." he says.

Gaofele Doiru has posed:
Gaofele Doiru blinks for a moment as the image of a bug-laden pizza crosses his mind. Well, some grubs do taste better when roasted...

"Well, at least she can tell you what she wants," he remarks to Hinote. "For all I know, she might be able to eat pizza, but definitely start with the crickets and stuff like that. Let her recover her energy for a few days, then you might try offering her some pizza."

Hinote Kagari has posed:
The bird merely head tilts at the two. "You feel like home!" she says at Gao, suddenly.

She looks at Hino. "You don't feel like home! But you also feel warm like home! It is very strange!" she says.

Yes. That's strange. "Ugh, what do I even name you...." he says as he scratches the side of his head.

"Illume! That's my name!" she says.

Hinote sort of looks like he just massssssive brain fart. "Yeah I could had asked that first my bad. Okay. Good."

He looks at Gao. "This is going to be an adventure..." he mumbles a little. "...think this has anything to do with my fire affinity and all that?" he asks ponderingly. "Maybe The Princess might know but...."

"If you don't know. Then I doubt she would."

Gaofele Doiru has posed:
Another shrug from Gao. "It makes as much sense as anything else," he admits. "Fire being attracted to fire, and with Illume being able to tell the difference between a Guardian Knight from Earth and one from Waldia, her being able to tell that you have fire magic sounds reasonable."

The forester turns towards the firebird. "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Illume!" he smiles with a small bow.

Hinote Kagari has posed:
Illume gives a birdish smile! "I'm going back to sleep now until the big sky fireball rises." she insists. And then she gets all snuggled up again. Hinote won't admit it's kind of adorable. Not right now at least.

"Okayyyy." he says with a shrug.

"Whelp. Guess I'm stuck with this for now." he smiles. Not fair for me to push her on you other guys. Besides. Not like my parents will be home anytime soon. I can always pass her off as an expensive parrot maybe. I'd need to tell her to mind the talking around others though...." he says.

"I do /not/ need my parents finding out about this stuff."

Gaofele Doiru has posed:
"I'd offer to lend my help and knowledge, but I'm about as clueless as you," Gao admits wryly. The little sleepy firebird is quite adorable, but mentioning it might disturb Illume's sleep.

Instead, the forester claps a hand to Hinote's shoulder. "Good luck keeping her secret hidden from your parents, and hopefully she's as good of an actor as you are," he nods.
