Date of Scene: 26 January 2016
Location: Uminari City - Midori-Ya Cafe
Synopsis: Tsubasa contacts Kukai to discuss their respective magical monstrosities over pastries and tea.
Cast of Characters: Tsubasa Kazanari, Kukai Souma

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
Tsubasa still isn't really sure why, perhaps to try out this whole 'cooperation' thing in her own way, but she's picked a semi-random member of Virtue from the contact list and sent him a text requesting he come to Midori-ya for snacks and chats after class. There was no name included in the text whatsoever. Mysterious.

She's sitting outside henshin in the rough area where she told Kukai she'd be, wearing the exact face concealing black hoody that she promised she's be wearing. There's a certain degree of feeling nervous emanating from her regardless, checking her phone to see the time every other second.

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma, for his credit, had informed Nadeshiko where he was going, just in case something happened. Strange texts with no name were a little mysterious, but certainly he was willing to go investigate. He looked up at the public bakery, then walked past, looking for whomever it was that had messaged him. It only takes a few moments for the brown haired Jack and his blue haired Chara to spot the.. girl? in the black hoodie, and he walks towards her. "Ah... hello? Are you the person who texted me?"

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
"Yes." Tsubasa answers, the voice definitely feminine, not to mention the school uniform she's wearing below the hooded jacket is distinctly the girls uniform of Verone High. A little bit of blue hair also peeks through, not much though. "Thank you for coming, Souma-san."

She puts away her phone, it's a weird looking brick. It's more practical than featured, or looks that way. She gets out the bakery's menu and looks over it, "My treat." She offers, as she holds out another copy to him. Can she be any more terse while she's at it? Probably not.

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma smiles faintly. "Well... I've got my own money, so thank you, I'll take care of whatever I get." He sits down across from the strange girl and examines her, peering under the hoodie, and then reaches out to take the menu from her. "So... you know who I am. Who are you?" He smiles, a little bit of his infectious good humor showing through.

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
Attempts to peer under the hoodie only seem to get it drawn down further. "With Virtue." Cagey cagey. She makes no attempts to hide that she's being cagey either, just letting that fact be clear. "I have reasons to obscure my identity." The idol insists, though without giving that reason, seems she's just going to expect it to be taken at her word. "You're one of the Guardians, correct?" She jerks a thumb towards Daichi, making it clear she can see the Chara.

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma frowns a little, but then nods, an unconcerned look on his face, the movement making his jacket rustle. "Well ok. As long as you don't shoot me or anything, I suppose if you wanna be hidden, I won't force it out of you. And... yeah." He looks at Daichi, who looks back at him. "I'm the Jack of Guardians, Miss Hood." He grins, pleased with his name for her.

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
"I'm with Section 2, we're an organization that fights a class of youma called Noise, and as mentioned, part of Virtue." Tsubasa manages to give some kind of information, at least, something that helps identify her. "I'm looking to learn more about the Youma outside our designated mission so that, if I come across any, I am better informed about relevant tactical information. In return, I offer to answer questions about the Noise."

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma blinks a little, looking at her. "Um. I... really only know about two types, and one isn't really a youma like you'd think of it." He looks back at the menu for a moment, setting it down on the table. "I mostly deal with X Eggs, and those are people's hopes and dreams. I've helped a time or two with witches, but it's not what I do mostly."

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma thinks, fingers drumming on the table now. "I can tell you about X Eggs if you wanna know. I guess I should anyway. I don't know what I'd even ask about the ... Noise?"

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
"I'm aware of the basic details regarding Witches, and if I needed more I'd contact someone who's specialized in dealing with them." Tsubasa dismisses the Witches right away, clearly she agrees the focus of what Kukai shares needs to be x-eggs, "The basic rundown on Noise is that they are dangerous Youma that tend to appear in large groups. They are highly dangerous, a single touch can be enough to kill someone without magical protection and they are resistant to mundane attacks. Fortunately, with magical protection their attacks are a lot less dangerous and they are vulnerable to magic."

She holds up a hand so she can order a cup of tea and a small cake, alongside with what Kukai wants. As soon as the staff is gone again, Tsubasa asks. "So, why are hopes and dreams dangerous?"

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma hmms, and orders a plate of anpan and a cup of tea, then sits back, setting the menu down. "Well. I should explain what an X Egg is, first. Every child is born with a guardian character in their heart, held in an egg. It's an image of who they want to be, a idealized, excellent version of themselves. If they follow their dreams, for the most part, they'll never see their character. Sometimes people need some help finding their charaters, and that sometimes leads to meeting their Guardian Characters, like Daichi."

Daichi nods and flexes his tiny muscles. "That's right! I'm here to help Kukai be awesome!"

Kukai grins. "That's right. And most kids with Guardians can Character Change with them, and that allows them to be... more of what their characters are like. I'm good at sports now, but when I Change, I could even beat my older brothers." He smiles. "There's even a more powerful version that a few people can do called Character Transform, which turns them into a form of their Charas. So, it's a lot of power to wield! But sometimes people convince themselves that they can't reach their dreams, and at that point all that power turns into an X Egg. Sometimes they just run away and aren't hostile, but sometimes they use that power angrily. It can be really destructive. And some people can either capture X Eggs and drain the power from them, ruining the Charas inside and turning the people who have them damaged or destroyed into poor, accepting, sad people who give up on their dreams, or even worse, they can merge with X Eggs or create Charas from them to Change or Transform with them."

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
Tsubasa doesn't interrupt Kukai while he explains a lot of stuff related to X-Eggs and the Guardians. She just listens and lets him talk, and only when he's done is when she even bothers to acknowledge she was listening. "Interesting." Without seeing her face, and without any real inflection to her speech, it can be hard to tell if she's genuine.

"While knowing how they come to be is useful, how do you handle X Eggs when they're making trouble? Does destroying them have the same side effects as draining them?" There is a brief pause before she admits, "I'm best at defending by destroying that which would harm people."

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma nods. "Yeah. We..." He sighs. "We used to have to destroy them. At least, for a little while one would pop up every so often, and we didn't have any other way to deal with them. Then Amu-chan popped up and she knew how to Open Hearts. Somehow she could turn X Eggs back into normal Chara eggs, and now we don't destroy any of them ever again." He looks at her. "If you can capture them, they can be fixed. Those are the hopes and dreams of children there, and possibly even Guardian Characters."

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
"I'll try, if it ever becomes necessary." Tsubasa offers, and it sounds genuine, albeit somewhat vague. The orders arreive, and she takes a sip of her tea, accidentally revealing a little more of her famous face. It's only a brief glimpse, but if Kukai is paying attention and is familiar with J-Pop idols... well... Tsubasa Kazanari is a fairly successful idol, and has been for several years now. "If you come across any Noise and are in shape to fight, please don't hesitate to stop them, and if you can, call this number." She hands over a blank business card that lists very little beyond a phone number and 'Section 2'

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma is not actually familiar with J-Pop idols, but he thinks she's very pretty despite not recognizing her. If she was a famous sports star, he'd probably have known who she was when she started talking, though. "OK." He thinks, scratching the back of his head. "Jeez. I always thought I was too young yet to have business cards." He looks around, then stands up, finding a newspaper and tiny pencil on a nearby table. He tears off a little piece, and writes his name and phone number onto it, then passes it over to her. "Will you do the same if you see any X Eggs?" He pulls the note back for a moment and draws a little egg, then colors it in with the pencil except for a white X in the center. "Like that."

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
Tsubasa places that 'business card' in a pocket. "I will." She promises, it's an easy promise to make and keep. She eats her cake quickly and neatly, then asks. "How long have you been doing this, Souma-san?" She raises her tea to take another sip, waiting for Kukai's answer.

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma thinks for a moment, cutting into his anpan with a fork, the flaky, red bean paste pastry parting easily under the edge of the utensil. "You mean hunting X Eggs? A few years. All the other stuff? A month or two. Not long." He munches on a bite and grins at her. "And I'm doing good so far!"

Tsubasa Kazanari has posed:
"Good enough." Tsubasa finishes her tea and fishes out her phone once again, looking at the time. "I think we've discussed everything." She finishes up her tea and places enough money on the table to cover for both her and Kukai, then gets up and starts to walk off, lowering her hoodie to better hide her face.

Kukai Souma has posed:
Kukai Souma frowns at the money, but shakes his head. He looks back at her. "And you know, if you ever feel like actually talking, you know how to get in touch with me." He leans back, thinking about who she was and munching the last of his anpan, watching the black hoodie bob away.
