Synopsis: | Hibiki and Miku go out for ice cream |
Cast of Characters: | Hibiki Tachibana, Miku Kohinata |
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki wants ice cream! It doesn't matter that it's the middle of winter. It's cold out sure, but not actually freezing or anything- just chilly. And anyway, Ice Cream season is all year long! Otherwise they'd close the ice cream parlor.
This particular one, by the beach, isn't as crowded as it would be during the summer, but it's open and there are a handful of customers. Hibiki has dragged Miku over after school, having gotten a craving and been unable to stave off her desires.
As she enters, tugging Miku by the hand, she beams. "Yay! Ice cream! I'm sure glad this place wasn't damaged in the storm.."
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
The past week, Miku has been abnormally clingy with Hibiki. The amount of time she's insisted on holding Hibiki's hand has increased from 'sometimes' to 'pretty much always'. She's even taken to cuddling closer at night or in the bath. Weird? Not really; it's possibly not even something Hibiki has noticed, given how close the pair already are.
But Miku has noticed.
Following her best friend into the ice cream parlour, she holds onto Hibiki's hand tightly, and begins looking over the selection. "Mmmm, it's a little cold for ice cream," Miku notes quietly. "Oh they have passion fruit," she adds, leaning down to peer through the glass at the purple-hued ice cream.
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki might have noticed, but it's not the sort of thing she's going to mention, especially not to complain about. In the first place, she rather likes the attention. But she's also keenly aware, at least in her own mind, that she failed Miku the previous weekend. Oh, she had done her part during the crisis- although not present to fight the giant Witch herself, she had assisted Section 2 in evacuation efforts and had done a fair bit of Familiar-punching to safeguard their facilities.
But she had thought Miku was safe in a shelter, and had only found out afterwards that her best friend had been in danger, bravely saving others! While proud of her, Hibiki had sworn never to be lax in her protection again, and so she didn't mind the clinging, because it made it easier to protect Miku! And, as noted, she liked the attention.
"Ice cream is delicious at any temperature." Hibiki says smugly, as she peers into the case as well. "Oooh. I'll have Chocolate Explosion."
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Miku seems to consider Hibiki's choice for a moment, then frowns. "Now I can't decide," she notes. "I really like passion fruit, but the chocolate sounds really good. I don't want to get two scoops, though," she murmurs.
"Hmmm," Miku's voice is almost sing-song as she considers her options. But then it's time to actually place an order. Apparently the decision wasn't too hard. "Just a scoop of the Passion Fruit, please," she suggests to the man behind the counter, then looks to Hibiki. Once they've both ordered, Miku lets Hibiki's hand go (reluctantly) so she can pull out her wallet to pay. "So Valentines' day is soon," Miku observes quietly as she places money down. "Any special boy you're intending to give chocolate to?"
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
"That's okay." Hibiki says, without missing a beat. "I'll get the chocolate, and we can share!" She places her order to this effect. She doesn't bat an eye as Miku pays, either- not that she's cheap, she just... never really thinks about money, despite getting paid by Section 2. Miku actually has access to her accounts, because Hibiki doesn't manage them at all and somebody has to.
When Miku brings up Valentine's Day and chocolate and boys, Hibiki blushes. "W-what? No! Of course not!" She says, firmly. She's mentally making notes to go and get some chocolates for Miku, because she had, in truth, totally forgotten about Valentine's Day. Miku can probably tell exactly what she's thinking by her expression, because poker-faces are not her forte.
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Of course not? That implies it's not even a thought that crossed Hibiki's mind. Miku smiles just a little, but it fades quickly as she considers whether she should buy someone chocolate. "Mmmm," she murmurs quietly, then accepts her very purple ice cream as it's offered to her.
"Well," Miku says as she goes to find a seat, "hopefully there aren't any boys who think you owe them some. That could be a little embarassing. I was thinking of getting at least some chocolate for Genjuuro-sama. I think he would appreciate it."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki collects her own cup of chocolatey ice cream and trails along after Miku as the other girl goes to find a seat. She sits down next to, rather than across from Miku regardless of where her friend chooses to it.
"Oh yeah," She says, as Miku mentions getting chocolates for Genjuuro. "That's a good idea! I do owe him an awful lot, It'd probably be nice to give him some just to show my thanks.." She turns pleading eyes on Miku. "Will you help me make some? You know how useless I am in the kitchen." 'Useless' is a kind word. 'Destructive' would probably be more accurate!
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
"M...make some?" Miku asks, eyes widening a little. "I guess we could do that," she agrees quietly, but there's worry in her tone. "I'm not exactly an expert in the kitchen, though, either." Even if she's pretty sure things aren't going to explode when she's in there. Unlike Hibiki.
"I had really thought I'd just buy something," Miku admits softly, as she takes a bite of her ice cream. She sucks on the spoon a moment, then waves it at Hibiki thoughtfully, "Do you think he will want us to make some?"
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki knows that Miku is no expert chef, of course- they've lived together long enough for her to be aware of that. But she's still way better than Hibiki, and so Hibiki tends to put her cooking skills on a pedestal merely out of relative difference.
When Miku says she was going to buy them though, Hibiki just shrugs, biting a hunk of chocolate off of her own spoon. "We can buy some. I dont think he'll mind. I just automatically thought of making chocolate when it comes to Valentine's day." She laughs, one hand raising behind her head. "Not like I've ever had to give chocolate to a boy before."
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
"What, not even ..." Miku starts to say, then blinks in surprise. No, actually, not even her father. That makes sense. "I guess not," she murmurs quietly, frowning in thought. "Well, I've always tried to give some to my dad, and now I've got Genjuuro-sama. They say that for every chocolate you give, you should expect three in return on White Day. It's never quite worked out that way, but maybe Genjuuro-sama will feel obligated."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki giggles. She reaches over without asking and digs her spoon into Miku's fruity-flavored ice cream, drawing it back to take a bite. "Yum, that's good too." She mumble around the spoon, then shrugs as she draws it back out of her mouth.
"Genjuuro-sama shouldn't feel like he has to get me any chocolates! He already gave me a great gift when he agreed to train me." She smiles. "Then again, it's not like I would say /no/ if he decided he wanted to give me candy, too.."
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
"Mmmm," Miku replies thoughtfully, "well, it's not like you would expect anyone to give them to you anyways. You would just take the chocolates if they were there, and assume that they were meant for you to have them." There is fondness in the admonission, but it is very clearly admonishment.
"Do you like the chocolate or the passionfruit better?" Miku asks anyways, leaning into Hibiki to inspect her cup curiously. "And what's the 'explosion' part? It looks like it's just double chocolate."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
"Well, if one sees unattended chocolate, one is in their rights to eat it." Hibiki says, with a sagely demeanor, as if quoting ancient scripture, while rotating her spoon around in the air. Then she grins. "Sorry, Miku! I won't eat your chocolates this year. Promise."
She eyes the chocolate ice cream as Miku leans over into her to peer at it. "I dunno, I think there's nuts in it or something. It's good! Try some!" She doesn't mind sharing with Miku. But she goes for another spoonful anyway- no sense in giving it /all/ away!
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
"Yes you will," Miku replies quietly. "Besides, it's not like you have a father to give you any." She scowls at this, just a little, then shrugs her shoulders and reaches over to dip her spoon into Hibiki's ice cream. Miku takes a bite, considers it, then sits up again and goes back to her own cup.
"I've been thinking I might give some chocolates to someone else this year, though," Miku notes thoughtfully. "Someone more my age."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki makes a face as Miku mentions her good-for-nothing father, but he's not somebody she really wants to dwell on. When Miku mentions giving choclates to someone else though, a stunned look briefly crosses her face.
"Wha? W-who?" She demands, slight panick in her tone as she seizes Miku's free hand in both of hers (spoon stuck in her ice cream) and peers at her friend. "Who do you wanna give them to??"
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Miku's eyes widen just a little at the intensity of Hibiki's panic. "W...well," she says, "someone who is very important to me. But I can't decide whether it would be better to give it to them on Valentines day, because I am a girl, or on White Day, because they are a girl."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki blinks her eyes rapidly as she tries to process this information. She still has her hands tightly on Miku's hand, and she peers at her friend. Now, despite appearances sometimes she's not actually an idiot, and so she sort of figures out where this is going.. but at the same time, she has little doubts. What if she's just assuming, and there's actually someone else???
"Eh.. umm.. I dunno.." She hesitates, then decides to hedge her bets. "Both?"
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Miku glances down towards Hibiki's icecream, thoughtfully. "Both?" she says, furrowing her brow. "Well she does like chocolate. Maybe that's a good idea," she agrees. "Mmmm," then she smiles and looks up at Hibiki again. "Actually that is a good idea. Alright, I'll do both."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki smiles! Then her smile falters slightly because she's still not actually /sure/ that this girl who will be getting double chocolate is her. What if it isn't?! What if she just convinced Miku to give some other girl chocolate twice?!
Rather than dwell on this unlikely unfortunate scenario, she turns back to her ice cream and shoves another spoonful in her mouth. "I always have good ideas." She mumbles around the spoon.
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Miku considers Hibiki's unhappiness for a few moments, then smiles and wraps her arms around Hibiki in a brief hug before she goes back to her own ice cream. She could tell her, but then it wouldn't be a surprise. And isn't half the point supposed to be a surprise?
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki squeaks as she's hugged, but then smiles ans leans into it before Miku turns back to her own treat. She's /prettty/ sure that it's her now. Pretty sure. She puts another spoonful into her mouth and quietly resolves to get chocolates for Miku too. If only to make absolutely sure.
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Miku remains silent for a while, finishing off her ice cream. When she's all done, she puts her spoon in the cup and pushes it away. "I wonder what ever happened to the woman I got to a shelter during that big storm. That whole building wound up being destroyed, a few minutes later. I hope she's alright."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki doesn't say anything at first, Miku's reminder about the storm only serving to remind her of her own failure to be there for her friend. After a moment she smiles though, glancing sideways. "I don't know but.. if it would make you feel better, we could try and find out."
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
"It would," Miku agrees quietly. "I'd really like to make sure she's alright. I don't know why she didn't evacuate in the first place. She didn't seem like she was disabled in any way." The green-haired girl frowns, then looks towards Hibiki--only to realise she's being smiled at. Miku's eyes widen and she looks away, blushing a little. "Will you help me with that?"
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki smiles more at Miku's blush, then laughs and abandons her spoon again to throw her arms around her friend and squeeze. "You hav ea good heart." She tells her, giggling. "Whoever this mystery girl is that you're so determined to give chocolates to, she must be very special to attract the attention of someone like my Miku!" She nods her head firmly. "Of course I'll help you."
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
Miku blushes a little more an dleans into the hug from Hibiki. "She's very special," she promises the girl. "The most special person in the world, I think. I just hope she feels the same way about me."
- Hibiki Tachibana has posed:
Hibiki can't help but blush a little bit herself. "I think she must." She says, playing coy. But not coy enough to avoid taking another spoonful of chocolate ice-cream after saying so.
- Miku Kohinata has posed:
"I guess we'll see," Miku replies, then leans over to put her mouth on Hibiki's spoon just before she gets the chocolate to her own mouth. She takes the chocolate, then hugs Hibiki and says, "Hurry up. We've got shopping to do before we go back home."
