The girl stood down from the rooftop of the small accessory shop in Penguin Park, as the stone tablet she held began to glow colder from the surprising warmth just a few moments earlier when she fed it. The couple in the park were easy to sneak up on: before they could even react to her shouting the incantation, they'd slumped to the ground like all the others.
"Ho---how many more do I need?" she asked the tablet, as she ran her fingers down the stylized image of some great bird engraved on its outside. The bird, black as shadow, stuck its head out of the tablet, as she asked her question. "I mean, thats nearly twenty-three!" she insists, in a stern tone.
The raven smiled, creepily, on its beak, starting to talk in its raspy, squawking voice. "Not nearly enough. Ill need twenty three more! And after that! Even more!" it insisted in a sort of sing song tone, it almost felt mocking to the girl. "Wishes arent cheap, little one~ I'll need thrice the power before I could even make the attempt for you!"
The girl winced. "That many!? Nrg-- if you say so." she begrudgingly. "But won't we be running into others soon? You warned me about that! I've only been lucky so far!" she said insistently again.
"Do not fret, my dear Scorn, you'll be ready to handle them when the time comes..." said the Raven, ever smiling, ever planning.
