Suzu-chan's First Sleepover! | |
---|---|
Date of Scene: | 08 September 2015 |
Location: | Mitakihara - Infinity University |
Synopsis: | Hannah invites Suzu over for a sleepover! |
Cast of Characters: | Hannah Sharpe, Suzuki Natsume |
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
It's hard being a magical girl and a student, and thus, Hannah Sharpe has called over one of her best friends to her apartment on campus! It's roughly 7 o'clock, and the girl's orderly apartment is as neat as ever. In the kitchen, there's the sound of meat sizzling and noodles being boiled as she dilligently works away! Seems tonight is pasta night.
Boris is being a good Familiar, standing guard near the door! The big husky wags his tail as he awaits the appearance of one Suzuki Natsum!
"She will be along soon, Boris! Don't get too impatient!" Comes Hannah warmly, before eep'ing and quickly turning down the heat on the stove before it over-boils. The girl is wearing an apron over pink star-patterned pajamas and fuzzy slippers. It's way too cute for someone as rough and tumble as her!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
It's /definitely/ hard being both a magical girl and a student, especially with overbearing parents that expect you to do basically perfectly in everything you do! ... Yeah. There's a reason Suzu isn't home much lately. Instead opting to go out and train, or do her homework at the park... stay out late patrolling, and similar. It's probably going to bite her in the rear eventually, but right now it's working to keep her busy and focused on more important things.
Like visiting her friend who had asked her to come have a sleepover! ... When she arrives, she has a small bag hanging from her shoulder, which held all of her essentials! Clothing, washing stuff, pajamas... all of those various things! When she arrives, she's wearing ... well, a casual kimono. One that doesn't drag on the ground. It's patterned in a summer style, with brighter colors and flowers and other things, and is generally fairly light.
She is stripping out of it at her first chance, too. But regardless! She's currently at the door, lifting her hand to knock on the door gently. Afterwards, she quietly lowers her hands to rest in front of her ... well, honestly somewhat nervously. This may or may not be her first sleepover. She may or may not know what she's doing.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
The knock is heard, and Hannah is right in the middle of mixing in noodles and sauce! Then she's over to flip meat!
"Boris-kun! Door!" Comes the girl's voice. There's a woof from inside, and then the door's opening! Something big and fuzzy leaps at Suzuki!
Boris tackles forward in a doggie hug, tail wagging away! If Suzuki doesn't dodge, she'll be at the mercy of doggie licks!
"Boooorrrisss! No tackling until they're in the house! Suzu-chan, come in! I am in the kitchen!" She might need to move Boris first!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
Suzuki shifts slightly, did... Hannah just call for Boris to open the door? Huh. Seeing-eye dogs must be /really/ well trained! Suzuki muses on that a bit, as the door opens! Aaand then there's big and fuzzy things leaping towards her. Suzu's arms lift to catch the large dog as much as she can, scritching at his neck and upper back a bit. "Hello to you too, Boris." Suzu says in an amused tone.
After allowing a couple of doggy licks, she releases the dog and pets the top of his head, disentangling herself and beginning to step inside. "Okay! Do you need any help with anything?" Suzu calls out in return, stepping inside... once Boris was also inside, she closes the door behind her, reflexively slipping out of her shoes and into a pair of slippers mysteriously produced -- if Hannah didn't have guest slippers out already, that is!
After setting down her bag, Suzu makes her way towards the kitchen. "It smells... different? I don't believe I've had what you're making before." Suzuki says as she steps into the kitchen. "Very... tomato-ie." She nods slightly. She didn't sound particularly hesitant or judging, mostly curious at this point!
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Scritches and pets have Boris quite happy! He finally is put aside, the dog following after Suzuki! Hannah can't help but chuckle a bit! Her two best friends are so cute!
"Chicken carbonara! Actually, yes. I have some red peppers in the fridge, could you get those and chop them up? The knives are in the cabinet to the left of the fridge."
Hannah scoots over, Boris sitting at the edge of the kitchen as he watches the chaos unfold. Hannah's utterly at home here, tasting sauce, draining noodles, and flipping meat away!
"Oh, and grab the peas too!"
"How've you been, Suzu-chan? You sound a little stiff. I can massage your shoulders later if you want."
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
Happy Boris is a good Boris! It also means that he's less likely to try to chase you off or anything like that! Suzu seems content to have Boris following her, as well. "Chicken carbonara?" She gives a soft giggle. "Chicken carbon... sounds like it would be interesting." She says, possibly teasing a little bit!
Being asked to chop up some red peppers gets a nod, and Suzuki moves to start doing that; before she even gives an audial response. "I'm sure I can do that; is it better to have small pieces or larger pieces for this dish?" Suzuki asks, opening the fridge to get out the red peppers and peas. She sets the peas on the counter nearby Hannah. "Peas are to your right." She says helpfully, then carefully takes a knife. "Stiff?"
"Mmmm... just the usual, I suppose. Probably because of the start of the new semester." She explains as she carefully begins to chop up the peppers, slicing them down the center to remove the seeds, and then beginning to cut them into larger chunks until she's given directions otherwise.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah sticks her tongue out at Suzu, waving the skillet a little!
"I'd rather not eat something that hard! And my chicken is soft and fluffy and perfectly cooked!" If the pig pickin' was any indication, cooking is a family skill!
"Smaller ones! Make little strips if you would!"
Hannah grabs the peas, and pours them into the sauce. She starts to add the drained noodles too, putting it all on low to thicken up.
"Ugh, I know that feeling. And Uzu-sensei is such a jerk! Be late once, and he calls you out in front of the entire class! I could go for getting that guy into the ring for a few minutes!" Grrrrr! She pumps a fist!
"Ah...you know, Suzu. If things ever get too much for you at home, there's plenty of room here." She adds suddenly, even blushing a little!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"That sounds rather tasty~." Suzuki responds to the description of the chicken, carefully shifting the 'large chunks' into thinly sliced little strips, moving with a careful hand. She was ... acceptable at cooking, but she could definitely cut things well! Probably from years of helping her mom in the kitchen with dinner. "Little strips it is, then." Suzuki says with a small nod.
"I think that's most teachers in japan... I think it's how they're taught to handle late students. It's supposed to teach discipline or something along those lines. Mostly it just shames the student in the hopes of them not doing it again." Suzu says with a slight tilt of her head. "That sounds like a good way to get in trouble, unfortunately. Getting him in the ring that is... unless he gets in willingly, in which case he may be trained in karate." She says, totally doing her best not to imply anything!
"...Mm..." Room here? She shifts her gaze slightly towards Hannah, "The peppers are cut. When do you want to put them in?" She asks carefully, though it was obvious she was still thinking. "...I'll definitely keep that in mind." She finally says.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah rolls her eyes. "So a japanese thing, huh? It just makes me mad! Does that actually work on some people?" She sounds skeptical.
Then she smirks. "Not that you've ever been late I bet!" Teases Hannah.
As Suzuki announces the peppers complete, Hannah stops pouring peas, and then taps the side of the pot with her stirring spoon.
"Dump them right in here Suzu-chan! We let it all thicken and simmer for five minutes, then let it sit for three, then it's ready!"
Boris woofs!
"No, not for you Boris!"
Hannah smiles a little bit. "Well. Just know you always have a place here if your parents ever get...too overbearing. Or even at my folks' place, though it's pretty tiny."
She lets the pot simmer, and then she's over to the fridge. It opens, and there's soda, tea, canned coffee, and what might be a concealed bottle of sake.
Naughty Hannah!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"I think it's mostly used on chronic offenders, or by older-fashioned teachers for the most part. Probably..." Suzuki says, with a helpless shrug. "I... wouldn't... know really. If it works that is. Probably not. Shaming usually just causes all sorts of mental issues and such. At least... that's what I read in my textbook." SUzuki says, giving a helpless shrug.
"No, I haven't really ever been late. My parents would probably not allow me back in the house if I was." Suzuki says, her tone was joking, thankfully! Probably... it's hard to tell with Suzuki, most of the time. Even when she's joking, it sounds serious!
She carefully dumps the peppers into the pot, making sure they all land in. "That sounds pretty quick, then. Unless you've already been cooking for a while, of course." Suzuki says with a small smile. Boris woofing gets a soft giggle. "I'm sure we can get you some sort of treat as well, Boris." She adds. There may or may not be a small bag of doggy treats in her bag. ... Did she ever mention she really likes animals? Because she does.
"...Thank you. My parents probably aren't thrilled with me as it is though." Suzuki mumbles softly. "I uhm... got lost in the mountains when I was training for a week or two. 'You should have known better, you should have not let yourself get lost like that. You have to always remember your compas!', other things like that." Suzuki says with a bit of a sheepish look. That wasn't the entire truth, but it was the truth she'd given her parents.
Soda, tea, canned coffee, and Sake! The latter she didn't really take much note of. It was just sake after all, children were allowed to have it on special occasions. "How have you been adjusting to japan? Like all the flavors of soda that are different. I know that america has a lot of different flavors than we do here." She asks curiously. Yes. Hannah was a foreigner, she knew this, and she was trying to ask about it without being rude.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
"I can imagine! I mean, not everyone's as outgoing as me! I can stand a few eyes staring. But some of the meeker kids just flush and stutter when it happens!" Hannah sounds more than a little unhappy here.
Hannah does 'stare' though. Peeeeeeer. She's gotten good at giving the illusion. Arms cross.
"Well if you ever need a scapegoat, blame things on me. I will take the heat for you. Besides, I am sure they already see me as some horrible influence." In some ways, they may not entirely be wrong, either.
Boris is prowling by now, trying to find the source of that scent! Woof!
Hannah laughs a bit. "Seriously!? Wilderness survival training? ...Okay, that's hardcore. I like it! But still, most people our age would be in a real tough spot if that happened. So, hate to say it, but I think your parents have inflated expectations."
She walks over to the kitchen table, runs a finger along it, and finds the chair. She kicks one out for Suzuki after grabbing a soda for herself and Suzuki.
"Eh, it has definitely been a challenge. I have been a lot of places, but I really don't get along well with, ah...conservative cultures like Japan's. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely place. And I got to meet people like you, and Ao-chan and Mamoru-kun! It just grates on me. I miss the stars and stripes sometimes." A shrug.
"Still a country girl after all these years, I guess. You ever thought of moving out of Japan, or seeing other countries?"
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"At least they don't make you hold buckets of water. I think that thing in anime is actually based off of how it used to be in real life." Suzuki says, rubbing at the back of her head a few moments with a bit of a nervous laugh. Look. Her school system isn't perfect. The american one probably has less humiliating punishments! Maybe! Probably! Or it might just be a 'grass is always greener on the other side' kind of assumption from Suzuki.
Stare! Peer! Gasp! "A-ah, no, I couldn't do that. Especially since it's usually me not meeting their expectations and such!" Suzuki says, her gaze shifting away from Hannah. "And I don't think you're that horrible of an influence; you haven't done anything that hints at such to my knowledge, at any rate." Oh, if only Suzuki knew.
Boris prowling around would probably find the treats in the bag! However, hopefully he's well-trained enough to not tear into Suzu's bag for treats! "Hah? Oh, no, it was more like... y'know. Camping. I went out to train in the wilderness with my sword. The peace of training out in nature, and all that. I had enough food to last me, so I didn't have to do much wilderness survival, I just had to find my way back. It's just, well. Easy to lose your way if you're out in the middle of a bunch of trees. Everything looks the same." While she's lying, she might still be speaking from experience with how she's talking about it!
"Ah... luckily you live in Tokyo then; this is a lot less conservative than some of the country areas of japan. The big cities are where all the 'wild' stuff is. Like the kitten petting restaurants and such." Suzuki says, smiling slightly towards Hannah. "Though... coming from the 'land of the free', I can understand even Tokyo seeming conservative!" She nods firmly.
"Hmm... I don't know that I would move out of japan unless I had a very good reason. But I do want to see other countries sometime. The history and tales of places like europe and china, and then the more 'new', but still interesting places like America." Suzu smiles a moment. She looks towards the chair briefly, before she smiles a bit. "I'll be right back. I want to get out of this kimono into something more comfortable." She murmurs. Well, her Kimono was very comfortable, but it was 'uncomfortable' in another way. Mostly that she's forced into wearing it!
When she gets to her bag, Suzuki carefully pulls out the bag of treats, before she leans down to whisper to him, "Take these to Hannah. I don't know how many that you're allowed. I'm sure she'll figure out what it is quickly." She says, holding the bag of treats so that Boris could take the top of it in his mouth. Yes. She is trusting a dog with treats! But this is a seeing-eye dog. They're well-trained! She pats the top of his head, then goes off to the bathroom to change into her pajamas.
Five or ten minutes later, she comes out wearing a pair of comfy pajamas, which consist of a pair of shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt with a panda on the front. It's absolutely adorable and it's a black-and-white general color scheme! Not that Hannah could see it, of course. She steps into the kitchen with a small smile. "I'm back! Was Boris a good boy?"
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
"I'd take that over public shaming! At least holding water builds up your strength! I could do that for /days/!" Brags Hannah, flexing an arm. Darn boxers and their fitness obsessions!
Hannah frowns a little bit, then walks over to check on the pasta.
"Maybe. But I think the important thing is that you live up to /your/ expectations. Making your parents happy is one thing, but you have to have your own goals too. What do you want out of life, Suzu-chan? What do you want to do for a living? That kind of thing. No parent has the right to decide how their child lives."
Stir stir stir! Getting close! She walks back in.
"...Oh. I was expecting some life-or-death training out there." She sounds dissappointed.
"Mmm. I guess I have an advantage. You can tell a lot about where you are using your ears. Dad and I always went hiking when I was younger. Said it 'built character' and stuff like that. It was fun! Honestly I'd take him out in Japan, but his knees are getting bad." A small frown here, then she's smiling again.
"Anyway, point being, you go deeper into a forest and you'll hear more wildlife. Maybe a crick or two." The southern and even some English creeps back in as she waxes nostalgic.
"So it might be cliche coming from me, but do no always trust your eyes when it comes to finding your way." A nod, as if she's just imparted sage advice.
Then she huffs.
"Yeah. Forget that! I get enough looks, being a foreigner and blind." Comes Hannah, annoyance creping into her voice.
"Well, if you ever go to America, bring me along! I will show you where I was born and raised until we moved! I hope you like cow pastures, rolling hills, and moon shi..." Pause.
"I, uh, mean humble accepting folks!" Eh heh. Nothing to see here folks.
"Yup! Don't be long food's almost done!"
Boris takes the snacks! Moral dilemma. With a little whine, Boris is a good boy, and offers the bag to Hannah. It's taken.
By the time Suzu comes back, Hannah is chucking a treat or two at a time to Boris, who artfully catches it in his mouth! Nom!
"He brought 'em right to me!" Comes Hannah proudly. She sets them aside, and then she's off to the kitchen.
"Get in here, Suzu! Food time!"
She pulls out two plates, forks and knives and parmesean already on the table! She's ready to dip out some pasta for her friend first!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"Ah, uhm. It was part of the public shaming. Going and standing out the hall while holding the buckets." Suzuki says, rubbing at her cheek thoughtfully. "Though I suppose it /would/ build up your strength." She says with a small smile. That smile falters slightly at Hannah's next question.
"I'm... not sure yet, to be honest; I don't have a complete plan yet, beyond that I want to help people in some way or another." Suzuki says softly, thinking on that. "Maybe I'll work at becoming a professional kendo practitioner, because that will possibly leave a fair amount of time to help people otherwise when I'm not training." Or she can teach, which can help people get straightened out, like Hannah's kickboxing club!
"I actually use that similarly. Using only sight is inefficient in a fight~. Though I heard somewhere that blind people's other senses tend to get better to make up for it... I wonder if that's true." She murmurs. She would ask Hannah; but if Hannah was born blind... she wouldn't know either! "Life-or-death training would be a bit... well, it's a good way to force you to get stronger, but that 'death' part is a bit unnecessary, and I can get similar results without the death part."
Cow pastures, rolling hills, and moon shi..? She doesn't really know about moonshine, so she just looks at Hannah very confusedly for a few moments. "Moon... shi? Is that some sort of slang?" She asks. Though, she continues on to speak about humble accepting folks! "...Yes, it must be some sort of slang." She murmurs to herself, nodding to herself! Also... Boris was a good boy!
The fact that Boris took it to Hannah instead of eating it, which gets him a few nice scratches from the girl! She FINALLY moves over to the seat that had been offered before, and takes a seat. "That's very good of him. I figured he would... seeing-eye dogs are well-trained, from what I've heard." She's totally not an animal nerd, really! Totally, not!
Pasta, knives, forks, and parmesean! "It smells delicious. Thank you for making it for me; I brought some of the tea I use for tea ceremonies. I didn't bring the set because it's difficult to transport safely... but it's excellent tea." she says. Of course, she did have her soda, which she was slowly sipping at. Savoring the sweet sweet goodness.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
"I could see it! Suzuki-sensei, teach me kendo and how to not be a horrible delinquent! You'll have legions of former gangster wanting to study under you!" Griiiiin.
Hannah rubs the back of her head. "I, uh, really wouldn't know. Though people are always telling me I hear things before they do." A shrug here. Yup, Suzu's thoughts are probably right on that.
"Yeah, it'd be a shame if you died anyway! You're a good friend, and I like your company."
"Slang. Definitely." Technically, Hannah isn't lieing here.
Boris, for his part, leans into the scritches!
"Yup! And Boris is smarter than most! And he makes a great snuggle buddy! Don't you Boris!"
Cue big doggie head in her lap, getting petted!
"Then let's do that after we eat!" She brings along the plates, and she sits, smiling. She raises her drink.
"To friendship, and good food!" Clink!
