- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
The battle for Ayana's heart is over and done with, the fox-girl's bond to Riventon broken - hopefully forever. Mikoto came home from the deed in a dark mood, though, still uncertain she did the right thing.
She lets her Barrier Jacket drop once she's in the warehouse, and heads over to one of the storage areas she'd set up for some of the more important bits of spaceship wreckage. A baggie of crushed, charred crystal is dropped into a lead-lined safe, which is then closed and locked.
That done, she grabs a can of soda from the fridge and sinks onto the couch, eyes closing.
- Hikari has posed:
Hikari has been lounging around the warehouse most of the day. She did some exploring of the higher nooks and crannies, but then decided she knew everything and so wound up curled up in a rafter, high above.
She's still there, just a catloaf on a beam, when Mikoto enters the place all slamming storage doors and securing things in safes. The cat opens her eyes and peers down at her mistress, yawns, and then drops the fifteen meters to the floor. Half-way down, she transforms, and alights gracefully in sweat shorts and a tanktop, bare feet padding. Her tail lashes frustratedly as she studies her mistress. "Who hurt you?" she asks, as she steps forward to curl up in Mikoto's lap.
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Mikoto's eyes flick open as the sound of the cat's landing reaches her ears. "Hikari-chan," she whispers, and uncurls to welcome the girl. "Dark thoughts," she answers, and reaches up to run her fingers through Hikari's hair, stroking her head gently.
"You know my doubts about what we did tonight," she finally says. "It's done, though. It's done. And by now he already knows it's done, if he's at all as competant as he seems."
- Hikari has posed:
"And you regret doing it," Hikari surmises as she wraps her arms around Mikoto's neck. The cat-girl completely occupies Mikoto's lap, huddling in close as she focuses on her mistress's woes. "Why do you regret it? Is it because you think that this bond is somehow sacred? That no one else should touch it?"
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Mikoto leans closer, bending her head to lightly kiss Hikari's forehead. "Sacred? That's not quite, but... it's just not done. To kill them, certainly, but..." She pops open the soda can. "She was in so much pain, Hikari-chan. Torn between her Master and her love."
- Hikari has posed:
Hikari smiles at the kiss, then leans away so she isn't in the way of Mikoto drinking her soda. "Do you think you could have spared her that pain?" the catgirl asks curiously. "Would it have been better to sever her from her love?"
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Mikoto takes a long drink of her soda, then sets the can on the end table. "-He- tried that. Pumped her full of dark energy, until any thought of love was inconceivable for her." She slides both arms around the cat-girl, and her head sinks down, forehead resting against Hikari's shoulder.
"She was a monster. I saw her then... trying to do the same thing to some poor kid. She said she wanted a 'pet'." There's a hitch in her voice as she describes it, and she hugs Hikari close.
"I couldn't let that happen. And if he had his way, she'd still be that kind of monster. So we had to stop her somehow."
- Hikari has posed:
Hikari purrs, low in her throat, as she huddles up next to her mistress. "Then why do you regret, my Mikoto-chan?" she asks curiously. "You have severed an animal from cruelty, and saved a girl from abuse. Surely there is nothing in this which is wrong. Even if it's 'not done' on Midchilda, you are not Midchildan."
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"True," Mikoto murmurs, "I am not Midchildan. I am, if anything, Belkan." She's still somewhat in denial over the fall of the Empire, even though all the evidence points to it being true. "And a Knight battles her enemies. Riventon is my enemy. Ayana was his weapon, a weapon which we have deprived him of."
She lifts her head, leaning back against the couch, and retrieves the soda for another drink. "Speaking of Midchilda, though..."
- Hikari has posed:
"Belkans don't have familiars," Hikari notes with a quiet grin. She kisses Mikoto's cheek, then slides out of her lap and sashays towards the kitchen. "And your tummy is rumbling. Come on, let me make you a snack while you tell me about Midchilda."
