Cast of Characters: | Jiaying Maki, Reiko Touyama, Sora Hisakata, Ayana, Ikiko Hisakata |
- Jiaying Maki has posed:
It's the school day! Lunch to be specific and Jiaying's once again trying to find a way to sneak onto the roof because that's totally a thing right? Sure she was told that it was against the rules, but what did she know. She's finally wearing the proper uniform rather than her old one and doesn't have that nice broken in feel yet, prompting her to tug and adjust the top from time to time, the collar particularly annoying her. Still! Boxed lunch in hand, a rather... large box, she's wandering the halls while stopping to read some of the signs. After which, she then tries to run it through her phone to make sure she's reading it right.
She's not being too odd, which is good as there are some students around, albeit where she's wandered it's not quite as crowded yet. It's still hot outside, it's still in school and she's still focused fully on keeping herself mostly hidden.
- Reiko Touyama has posed:
It's Reiko Touyama. Koigirl extraodrinare. She's walking through the school with her lunch box-- it's. Well. It's a fish shaped bento. Look. She doesn't ALWAYS take the fish shaped bento, but she takes it when she's in a SUPER good mood and she's in a SUPER GOOD MOOD because she went to the BEACH with an older pretty boy that likes making her blush.
Look, it's the simple things in life.
Also. There is a red cardinal on her shoulder. It's a red bird. Just sitting there. Peeking around shiftily.
STILL. She passes by Jiaying and stops a moment as she backs up and smiles. "Oh! Um! Hi!" she says softly. "Maki-san, I was heading outside for lunch for some fresh air! Would you like to come with me?" she smiles.
"Maybe we'll run into Ikiko-chan and Ayana-chan along the way! Sometimes I do!" she beams a bit.
It's an honest suggestion, as she head tilts. "IS everything okay?" she asks as she notices her trying to read a sign or two.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"Jia-san" Sora greets her classmate, anf glances across to Reiko. "Now you've done it, you've mentioned her and she's sure to come show up to ruin my day." She is, of course, referencing Ayana. The black-haired girl follows the group, "What's your name again? You're one of Ikiko's friends, right?" Nope, Sora hasn't yet figured out where they're going.
- Ayana has posed:
Ayana is eating lunch in her class room. It's not that she likes to be there, it's that she promised Ikiko she would wait for her, and also she's busy trying desperately to memorize herr history lesson. It's not going very well. The fox-girl is crosseyed, trying to read her book while nibbling on bits of fish jerky. She's not making much progress on either. "Iki-chaaaaan," she whines. "Where are yoooou?"
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata walks quickly through the halls, bento in hands. There had been a few extra things in the classromm that had to be put away before the students could go to lunch, and she was trying to make up for lost time without actually running. She turns a corner to head down the hallway to Ayana's classroom--
--oh hey, some people she knows! "Hi Sora-chan! Hi Reiko!" she waves. "I'm going to go eat lunch with Ayana; you wanna come along?" She seriously doubts that her cousin would want to eat lunch with Ayana, but not leaving the invitation open-ended would be a bit rude.
Meanwhile, Ikiko is still walking down the hallway -- Ayana's classroom is only a few doors away. "I'm coming, Ayana~!" the younger Hisakata calls.
- Jiaying Maki has posed:
Jiaying Maki scowls as she points at one of the Kanji and says, "This reads funny and it is frustrating!" to the question she was asked, that is if there was something wrong. Turning on her heels, she looks to Reiko with a shrug and resumes smiling, the hated hanzi/kanji issue forgotten for now. "Sure? I don't remember those names though. Were they one of the people at that really awkward beach thing?"
When she realizes that Sora doesn't fully know Reiko or has never met her or whatever it is, probably the former, she gestures to Reiko "This is Touyama, she has bad tasting fish things and has a thing for pink ha-" she stops as someone new walks up and addresses Reiko. While they're distracted her own box is cracked open and she sneaks something out to eat a bite. What, she's hungry. There was also that call and answer! "That's convenient Touyama, those.. they were who we were supposed to talk to?" Then the -chan suffix finally sinks in and she looks between the two before pointing to Sora and asking, "That means something significant right? The Sora-chan thing?" People are lucky she hasn't taken to just calling everyone chan or something.
- Reiko Touyama has posed:
Reiko Touyama ohs and looks between Jiaying and Sora. "Oh! We met before once! When I was over at Ikiko's...." then she frowns. "..and saw ya at the beach party!" she beams. Then Ikiko runs by! "OH! Yeah! Come on you two~" she sings out.
She walks along to the lunch room as she turns around. "Come on~" she says as she steps into line after Ikiko, probably entering shortly after her.
The bird on her shoulder is along for the ride a bit as it holds a wing to it's head as it mutters. "So it's pink haired ones now, huh?" it asks.
"Shut up, Roy!" she says with a blushed face.
"Look, you'll get used to japanese soon enough!" she smiles at Jiaying. "Just don't get frustrated! Never give up!" she insists.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"See" Sora grumbles as she's now finding herself caught in a situation where she really can't say no, though it's obvious she's not happy about it, so she goes to do quick introductions. "Ikiko-chan, this Jiaying Maki, she's a transfer student from Japan in my class, please be kind to her. Jia-san, this is my cousin, Ikiko Hisakata."
That out of the way, Sora stills a little grumbly. "If the little kid" Yeah, Sora is referring to Reiko like that, "has been tricked into thinking that Jia-san meeting Ayana is in any way shape or form a good idea, I'd better be there to step in if necessary. So I guess I'll come along."
- Ayana has posed:
Ayana looks up from her history book, practically on the verge of tears, when she hears Ikiko's voice. "Iki-chaaaan," she whines further. "They're making me learn about an ea-to period, and it's just making me hungry."
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"Nice to meet you, Jia-san!" Ikiko beams, then she ducks into Ayana's classroom. She walks over and gives her girlfriend a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek, then pulls over a nearby desk and sits down.
"I have good news, bad news, and news news," Ikiko mentions, then nods as Reiko enters the room. "Here's the good news. Bad news is, Sora-chan's also coming, and news news is that one of Sora-chan's classmates who knows Reiko is also coming."
- Jiaying Maki has posed:
Jiaying Maki waves in a confused state to Ikiko and calls out, "Nice to meet you as well Ikiko-/... yes." She'll learn those sooner or later. Or just start assigning her own honorifics to everyone creating an even more confusing translation note in her head. She does follow along though, after watching Sora for a moment to see if she'd be coming along as well!
Sora's reaction gets a confused look from the short girl and she asks, "It's not really tricked is it? That would mean that... well it could be tricked. But then it would be harder than just asking right? Or is there something wrong?" It's about that time that she hears Reiko tell a Roy to shut up. "Roy?" she asks in confusion as she follows, realizing that Roy's not even a pet name for anyone. If she's running around with a talking bird and flying fish, maybe she can drag her haunted toy around! That wouldn't go too bad right? Meifeng only occasionally mocked her the last time after all.
- Reiko Touyama has posed:
Reiko Touyama frowns at Sora. "I am not a 'little kid', thank you." she insists.
She smiles at Jiaying. "Roy!" she says motioning at her bird. The cardinal waves-waves. "He's one of the birds who help me." she says softly. "There's three! Roy. Gigi. and Biv." she insists.
She grins. "Ayana-chan!" she beams as she motions at Jiaying entering. "This is Maki-san! Maki-san...." her eyes go wide at Ayana. "Is a foxgirl too!" she says with wide eyes.
"I wanted you two to meet!" she says with a grin and shaking fists.
She smiles at Ikiko. "Ikiko-chan~ How are you." she pauses.
"If Ayana-chan showed you any pictures, they are a LIE!" she shakes her finger!
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"I think you mean 'the bad news is Ayana has not yet left for Moscow.'" Sora suggests with a tone of sugary sweet venom as she enters, getting out her boxed lunch and sitting down. "Touyoma-san, you're what, eleven? That makes you a little kid." She insists.
And right to Ayana's face, Sora adds. "Ayana is this stupid girl who's tricked Ikiko-chan into thinking that there's any chance she won't end up killing and eating Ikiko-chan and all the rest of us at some point." The way she says this, she sounds like she's purposefully excaggarating the degree to which she distrusts Ayana.
- Ayana has posed:
Ayana's expression does not lighten much at the kiss to her cheek, but a little. Reiko joining earns a bit of a smile, right up until Sora enters hot on her heels. Ayana's mood goes from whiny to downright irritated almost immediately, as she glares at the older Hisakata. "You know," Ayana tells Sora, "Maybe if you weren't mean all the time, people like Kukai-baka wouldn't leave you to kiss other smelly boys instead."
But then there's someone new to meet, and Ayana turns to regard the other girl uncertainly. "Whadda you mean there's another fox girl? Inari-kami said you had to be fifty to be a fox girl, and that I only got a deal that was special because of the strange circumstances. Are you that old?" she asks Jiaying curiously.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata shoots an annoyed glare at her cousin -- Sora's concern is touching, but way too heavy-handed.
But instead of saying anything about that, Ikiko smiles at the cardinal. "Hi, Roy!" she says softly, then grins at Reiko. "I'm doing okay! Club stuff has been keeping me busier than usual in the afternoons, but a rhythm's starting to work itself out. How about you?"
- Jiaying Maki has posed:
Jiaying Maki is both surprised that Reiko just kind of blurts that out since... well she did sort of just show it off on a whim earlier. Whoops, her fault. Probably. Both Sora and Ikiko's lack of a reaction is pretty surprising though. She offers a wave to Ayana and says, "Hi!" leaving it nice and simple now, suddenly feeling really awkward at that intro. "I think that's the wrong kind of fox Hisakata." Trying to... diffuse it in advance? "The Korean ones are the ones that eat people and it's my side of the family that does the horrible monster thing a lot. I think that's a bunch of lies though." Or she just chooses to ignore that idea.
Ayana's question and references to Inari spark a memory and she says quickly to Reiko, "I still need to see if I can meet Inari. It'd be neat, like a poorly translated... well not family reunion, but uh... something. Yes." She drops that quickly and replies to Ayana, "I'm thirteen - I thought it was one-hundred? Also I don't know how old my mother is before you ask." Not that she was going to, but that's where the fox part of her comes from so she's making sure!
She leans back, looking up and down the hallway out of a case of natural paranoia, then reaches behind her, under her uniform top and pulls a tag loose that she hides there. Nothing physically changes since they're still at school and she has SOME control, but her magical aura isn't hidden and there's suddenly sound and smell again! She totally tries to be subtle about that last part.
- Reiko Touyama has posed:
What, TWO foxes!? Roy hunkers down and hides behind Reiko's neck. He's suddenly skittish. Maybe it's because of ALL THE APEX PREDATORS HOLY CRAP!
She smiles some and beams! "See! Foxes!" she says with a grin.
She frowns at Sora. "Ayana-chan isn't bad, Sora-san." she says softly. "She's been behaving really good. Except. When she takes pictures of me in embrassing situations." she hrmphs. "Then she's a mischief maker!" not a jerk. Mischief maker.
She nods matter of factly. A koi appears and mimics her head nodding. Yup. Alll matter of factly here.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"And maybe if you weren't alive, I wouldn't need to be mean." Sora bites back, and this is kind of new. While she's always been hostile to Ayana, at least so far the desire has been to see Ayana gone. Never before has she made any kind of statement implying she'd rather that foxgirl was dead.
Jiaying's comments on the matter get a "Japanese ones do it too." Sora objects, conveniently glossing over the fact that kind of thing is limited to a subset of foxes Sora knows Ayana isn't part of. "Touyoma-san, it's obvious Ayana has fooled you. She's probably going to rip out your heart and eat it soon."
What is Sora's problem with Ayana, anyway?
- Ayana has posed:
Mischief maker. Heart-eater. And another fox who got her powers easier. It's all quickly too much for Ayan. It's really not to her benefit to lash out against Sora; it only gives the elder Hisakata ammunition to use against her.
But Ayana's finally reached her limit. Her ears flick back--when did she get kitsunemimi!?--laid flat against her orange hair, and all four of her tails lash behind her, beneath her skirt.
With a scream of anger and frustration, Ayana picks up her history textbook in both hands and throws it, overhand, at Sora. Then, without even a blink of hesitation, she's up standing on her chair, but just long enough to use it to leap after her book.
"TAKE IT BACK TAKE IT BACK!" Ayana screams at Sora as she attempts to physically overpower the volleyball star. This is so not going to go well. Worse, with all this activity, the bead she wears on the collar around her neck has emerged from where she hides it beneath her shirt--clearly in plain view for Sora to see.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata has a rice ball about halfway to her mouth when Sora raises the level of hostility. She looks at her cousin with an expression of shock, fury, and disbelief, the rice ball falling out of her hands (and back into her bento, fortunately).
Before the younger Hisakata's mind settles on a single reaction, Ayana (literally) leaps into action. Ikiko scrambles after her girlfriend, trying to deflect the angry kitsune and keep her out of retaliation range of Sora... either by redirecting Ayana or by shoving Sora out of the way.
Problem is, intercepting works better when you're not having to catch up; at best, Ikiko might find herself trying to pry the two apart.
- Jiaying Maki has posed:
Jiaying Maki glances around quickly, looking extremely confused at the reaction she's seeing from Sora. "I.. think that would be more likely from my third cousins or something.. What-" She pauses, trying to think of how to even approach the subject when Ayana fairly understandably gets upset. She slowly leans out the door to look around, making sure it's not spread too far either way.
The appearance of the fish distracts her briefly, then she adds softly, "Sorry?" Feeling somehow involved in what happened here. She doesn't recognize the bead right away either! Though some deeper part of her thought processes makes an odd connection and she wonders if she shouldn't say something to help hide it.
- Reiko Touyama has posed:
Reiko Touyama is about to say 'nu-uh! She's gonna rip my heart out and snuggle it and steal it~' in a cute manner but then Sora says something.. really...realllly mean- and she's furrowing her brow and about to say something about that next when Ayana is mid leap.
"W--what!? No! Stop this!" she seethes out.
She waves her hands around and Roy hides further behind her. She whines and twitches....
"Stop it you guys!" yells the tiny koi! It's kind of an adorable small voice. Uh oh. The koi talked. It means Reiko's super agigtated in some manner when the kois talk or make sounds for that matter.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
When Ayana rages at her like that, Sora's eyes show two emotions in quick succession. The first, surprise. She's knocked down to the ground, her lunch scattered all around, before her eyes can settle into the second emotion. Fear. For all Sora's physical strength, Ayana has her tails out and she doesn't know if that gives the foxgirl power.
The older of the two Hisakatas notices the bead, and without hesitation reaches out for it, trying to clasp it long enough to utter just a single, dread-filled command. "Calm down." Then, she lets go.
- Ayana has posed:
Ayana lands atop Sora without remorse, straddling her easily with knees to the ground. She raises a hand, sharp claws flashing at the end of her fingernails. The rage-filled kitsune looks about ready to tear the dark-haired girl's face off ... until Sora grabs her star ball.
It's like flipping a light switch, or pressing a button. The suddenness of Ayana's calm comes so fast it's almost jarring. Her ears perk up to their normally alert positions, and tails lay down flat against Sora's knees. The girl sits back--still straddling her elder, but clearly no longer ready to fight. A blink, then a confused tilt of Ayana's head as she peers at Sora. "What happened?"
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
When Ikiko catches up to the now-defused fight, the first thing she does is carefully help Ayana away from Sora -- but not before making sure that her cousin is no longer holding onto the star ball.
"Sora-chan was incredibly rude, and you wanted to force-feed her words back to her," the younger Hisakata says gently, escorting her girlfriend back to her desk. "But lunch is much tastier, and better for chewing on than biting into infuriating insults."
Ikiko shoots a glare at Sora, but says nothing. Part of that is not wanting to dignify her cousin with a response, while the rest is listening to the advice for when you don't have something polite to say.
