Synopsis: | WPS is open for training, and Cure Victory comes in to take them up on their offer! |
Cast of Characters: | Hannah Sharpe, Mari Katsu, Haruna Kurosawa, Mikoto Nakajima |
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
WPS' doors are more wide open than usual. Hannah hasn't exactly been subtle in her advertising. Commercials, radio announcements, newspaper ads, internet pop ups, social media, she's put the word out that 'special talents' are wanted for 'security and self defence training against unusual high-level threats'.
The litany of text messages that she's send to pretty much every magical person she knows, loves, or is hated by borders on harassment. WPS' training grounds are open, ready to be used, and client contracts are heavily discounted for attendees.
Those that arrive are ushered through the lobby after given temporary badges by faceless suited guards into an elevator. One trip, and a lot of magic later, the group arrives at the training area: located in an Eclipse stacked space, it looks almost like a small amphitheater. Seats line the circular area, and a football-field sized center is seemingly made entirely of metal. Like an Empress on the throne, Miss White sits at a high-tech seat overlooking everything with her Devic eplugged into said seat.
"Greetings! C'mon, everybody, have a seat!" There's stage lights pointed at the seats down below Hannah, enough to fit at least twelve people. There's also food tables with drinks, snacks, water, and other sports refreshments set out. Nothing alcoholic. We're here to get stuff done. It's waitstaffed by a few suited young women, no doubt interns for the company.
"Now for those of you who got here but ignored my texts, we're all here for training, to learn about our own powers, and to run the gauntlet of pain and perspiration that's just a small sample of the kind of services WPS will offer to YOU! For the right price. Aaaand remember, everything's half price, so siiiign on up now if you want the best value in protection, Witch Hunting, and Magical Girl Survival Services! Nobody else offers the breadth and quality that you'll find here at WitchHunter Professional Services, your friend in Witch Slaughtering!" Comes Hannah with a grin, her speech as practiced as any corporate jerk.
"Now! Who's my first volunteer? Any hands? Oh, and don't forget to sign the waiver!"
There's pens with WPS logos on them near a /very/ tiny print two page document with areas for signatures already marked out. The fine print is veeeerry tiny. And there's lots of deniability coverage.
In short, don't die, mahou girls.
- Mari Katsu has posed:
Mari was still getting 'broken in' back into her daily life of school, tennis club, and monster hunting. So the littany of advertisements that had been blowing up her phone and filtering their way down to her through friends and 'the vine' had piqued her intrest enough that she decided to attend, despite the hard looks Raquel had been giving her over the subject after the things they had heard from Gull-chan, airing on the side of caution. Meanwhile, Mari... really didn't care one way or the other. Gull-chan was smart enough to make her own decisions, so she put her faith in Gull's judgement - despite being left out a few facts that no one has filled her in on yet reguarding the not-so-near-death experience her friend went through while she was gone. Probably for the best, really.
To that end, Cure Victory is among the audience, peering at the waiver form with a quiet, thoughtful frown on her face as she narrows her eyes slowly trying to make heads or tails of what she's reading.
"I swear if you just sign that without reading the whole thing..." Raquel mumbles from Victory's shoulder before Victory shrugs and stretches silently.
"It's just typical company jargon, Raquel-chan.. Legal stuff, not being liable for injury, dismemberment, death, disfigurement, death, embarassment, death...." Victory replies as she shrugs.
"...Maaaaaaybe you shouldn't-" Raquel starts before Victory shrugs and stamps the paper with her signature.
"Ehhhhh... I'm MOSTLY joking. Death was only listed twice." She responds, before Raquel just facepalms in silence.
- Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Haruna Kurosawa is sitting in a chair and taking names and also checks/payments and making sure paperwork gets signed in triplicate. She's dressed in her impeccable bussiness suit.
Sitting next to her is a boy who looks a few years younger than her with white hair that comes to a swirled bang in front of him and blue eyes and he's wearing a white suit. Haruna is passing the paperwork off to him.
Victory comes in!
"Victory-chan, hiiiiii!" she sings.
"Glad you could make it~" she sings.
- Mari Katsu has posed:
Victory just smiles and bows to Haruna as she walks up and hands over her paperwork, giving a slight eyebrow raise before she snickers a bit.
"Haruna-chan.. I didn't picture you for the suit and tie, type" She teases before she quietly turns to look at the boy next to her before she smiles and nods her head to him as well.
"Yeah.. The number of advertisements I got, and heard about got me interested.. At the very least I should be able to hone my skills a bit more..." She replies to Haruna before she smiles. "Although.. I'm not really sure I fit in with the crowd. ...Guess I could have come wearing a suit or something..." She teases before she grins and waves her hand dismissively, then turns her head towards Mrs. White on her 'throne.'
"...Volunteers, huh?" She repeats to herself before she quietly shrugs her shoulders. "Sure, I'll volunteer." She replies before she raises her right hand.
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Hagane strides in fashionably late, throwing the door open and waving cheerfully at all present. "Hello, hello! Wonderful day, so very glad to see so many wonderful people here." She's dressed in her usual impeccable blue suit, rapier at her side, her hair pulled back with a simple black ribbon.
"The suit is kind of a theme for us, isn't it? I kind of like it, myself. And with the colors it's a bit cooler than Men In Black. We make this look a heck of a lot better than Will Smith."
She flashes a grin, then - seeing Victory has volunteered for the first demonstration - slides into a seat and puts her feet up to watch.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Ahh, Gull-chan, always reliable! There's a stealthy wink to Haruna as she welcomes in Victory. Having such a loyal employee, friend, and love has her heart fluttering inside. Outwardly, all she shows is confidence, and that good old American outgoing nature.
"That's right! Line up with Gull-chan here! You're not getting any of our top notch medical care if you don't sign up!"
Ooh, and then Victory volunteers! Hannah laughs. Why does it sound like she's suddenly very, very happy!
"And there we have it! Finally, someone who ISN'T a coward! Cure Victory, huh? GIVE OUR BRAVE FRIEND A ROUND OF APPLAUSE! Don't underestimate a Pretty Cure, kids, or you'll end up with your face in the dirt!" She might be biased. A few of the less experienced magical girls here look a bit nervous at Hannah's outbursts.
One of the interns is soon over, offering Hagane refreshment and food befitting an actual employee! Hannah scoffs. "Will Smith is an ACTING GENIUS!"
A big holographic 'Start' sign floats in the air as there's a rumbling of machinery. What appears to be a very, very narrow balance beam running the entire length of the field rises. It's easily fifteen feet off the ground, more than enough to cause a broken leg to a normal person. The actual beam is barely half an inch wide. At the other end, there's a simple platform to hop off of, a ten foot drop with 'Finish' on it.
More ominously, up above, a good dozen metallic poles with bulbs descend from the ceiling. Seven feet above that simple beam, horrible amounts of electricity lash out between them, just daring anyone to try to fly or jump.
"The goal is simple! Get to the other end, Miss Victory without falling off! Should be nothing, right? Alright! Three...two...one!"
She raises a popgun. POP!
"Gooooooo!"
- Haruna Kurosawa has posed:
Haruna Kurosawa leans next to the boy. "I bet Victory-chan gets first place." she says. "You're on, I counterpoint. She barely gets second." says the boy who sounds supiciously like Corvus.
She leans back up and grins over at Hannah and then back at the course.
"Gooooo Victory!" she sings.
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
A silver-furred kitten crawls out from behind Hagane's coat, curling into her lap to watch Victory at work. "She's better than you think," the feline brags. "She'll surprise you."
Hagane absently strokes the kitten's fur, smiling lightly. "We'll see, imouto-chan. We'll see." She eyes the refreshments, and picks out a shrimp, which she holds out to her feline friend. The kitten snaps it out of her hand and eats it happily.
- Mari Katsu has posed:
The sudden outburst from Hannah causes Victory to raise an eyebrow... Not to mention the look on her face... An odd happiness that she was the first to volunteer? Odd... Still, the reaction just makes Victory give a bigger grin before she gives her signature thumbs up in response as the course is revealed and Mrs White gives the rundown of the course objectives... There's a brief moment before the pop gun is fired.. where Victory reaches up and bumps Raquel off her shoulder who just blinks silently.
"Victory-chan, what are you-" Raquel starts, before Victory just shakes her head. "The electricity is going to be hard enough to deal with without added static generated from our outfits colliding generating an opposite charge. Sit this one out, Raquel-chan." Victory replies to which the Fairy just raises an eyebrow and sighs.
Another moment to inhale.. and the pop gun sounds surprisingly - or maybe not so surprisingly, Victory charges head long onto the rail and straight down the center of the course.
What probably does come as a surprise is that the Pretty Cure does infact form her wings, but doesn't take flight, instead using the hip-wings as a ballance to keep herself steady on the narrow beam as she dashes forward into the first set of pylons.
.oO( I won't have the speed to dodge... Time to be creative! I just hope those fancy doccuments I signed cover damage to property if I don't screw this up... ) Mari thinks to herself as she grips her hands tightly to either side forming her signature tennis racket - only this time one in each hand as she continues sprinting along the beam.
"PRECURE! VICTORY VOLLEY!" the Pretty Cure calls out as the first of several bolts of artificial lighting lash out towards her, her right tennis racket glowing with precure energy as she leaps mid step and spins, using her wings to stay more-or-less in line with the beam as she uses the energy clad racket to slap the bolt of lightning back at the orb that generated it, her feet landing back on the beam as she continues along the path This repeats for the next two bolts, each one being returned in the same manner as she continues along the track.
The next bolt however catches her off guard, giving her only just enough time to jump out of the way as it hits the track right infront of her next step before she lands again, finding a momentary break in the chaos to recollect her thoughts before she frowns slightly, looking to her right shoulder.
.oO( Tch... still...? I have to push harder... ) She thinks to herself as she narrows her eyes at the track ahead - particularly that drop at the end... It can't be that easy... A training course like this would take into account someone with the ability to slow their fall.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Sightless eyes narrow as Victory begins her rush towards the end. The young woman abandons her mascot friend, rather smartly, and then is off. Wings keep her balanced, lightning strikes meet the leaping strikes and those magical tennis rackets only to be shot back towards the very orbs that fired them.
Hannah looks absolutely overjoyed at the performance thus far. Even if she almost gets hit, she still manages to fly away with a leap and stop to catch her breath.
Those close to her might hear Miss White chuckling with amusement and excitement. Of all the magical girls she's interacted with, none manage to both infuriate and excite as much as a Pretty Cure. The pure essence of /life/ in them, no matter what she feels about Blue, draws an outgoing soul like Hannah instantly. It might explain her love for Gull in part.
Speaking of, there's a big bald russian man that walks by both Haruna and the young man next to her. Hannah's Familiar gives them both a big head-ruffle and some accompanying refreshment.
"Green kitton! Blue bird! Is going well? Can feel White Kitten's pleasure from here! I like her. Pretty Cure...aren't to be underestimated!"
Then, Boris looks waaay over to Hagane and Kitten-chan. Somewhere, Boris feels the urge to walk over, and pet the cute kitty!
Familiar Sparkles form over the big bald man. Blush. K...kitty! He might woof a time or two.
Meanwhile, Miss White gives a big grin, and claps her hands.
"And look at that! See? This isn't impossible if you just give it your all! Still..."
There's a chill through the lesser mahou present as Miss White lets out another chuckle.
"I don't think we've given our brave contestant quite enough to match her skills." She mutters to herself, and then flexes her Device-wielding hand. Joints crack with the sudden burst of magic in her hand, and across the beam.
Where once the wind and air was neutral, all hell breaks loose. Cure Victory's path isn't blocked by physical adversaries aside from continued lightning, but magical ones. There's an awful backdraft, nearly tornado class winds whipping past her to try to carry her back across the half way mark. Worst still, is the emerald slipstream amongst the normal manipulation of air.
"Slicing Tempest." Comes Hannah's Device.
Amidst that wind bluntly hammering against Cure Victory, from every step comes a random slice of green wind. Above. Below. From the sides. At every single angle, wind magic designed to slice and bleed a person into weakness assaults the Pretty Cure's defenses, turning a simple obstacle course into a testament in physical endurance and suffering...unless, of course, the PreCure gets creative.
Miss White leaves just enough of an interval for it to not kill the brave woman. Hannah /loves/ people who get creative, after all.
- Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Hagane's kitten hmmms as they watch the show. The increased danger level might worry some. Even more so if they knew Miss White as well as they do. But neither seems particularly worried.
The mass of Flickers swirling half-invisibly about the ceiling might have something to do with that.
"Go for VICTORY!" the girl calls out, even as she feeds the cat another shrimp. "You can do it!"
- Mari Katsu has posed:
The proverbial calm before the storm.. is suddenly interupted by winds that not only push back against Victory's advance, but succeed in breaking through her own magical defenses in multiple areas, her uniform ripping beneath the razor-wind slashes and even bringing blood on a few areas. Through gritted teeth, Mari keeps staring down wind into that tempest, focusing her thoughts on finding a way through... Another crack of lightning and she's forced to take to the air again, the wind forcing her back even further as she loses her traction to hold herself back, untl she digs her heels back into the track... Which due to it's size - doesn't offer that much. Her wings folding in and shielding her more vital areas from the cutting winds almost instinctively
Raquel, watching from the starting point, narrows her eyes slightly with a bit of concern, while gripping her tiny fists a bit tighter.
Victory meanwhile.. drops one of her rackets whith fades into purple energy and vanishes before swirling around and reforming into a glowing orb of energy in the pretty cure's right hand. Wordlessly, the ball is served into the wind.. spinning helplessly before spiralling off in another gust.
This action is repeated two.. three... Four times, before Victory grits her teeth.
"Not enough..." The pretty cure mumbles to herself under the biting winds, before she shakes her head. "This... is going to suck..." She adds before she passes off the racket to her right hand.
"Alright... Let's see you handle this....! There isn't a Terribad... But this should provide me the edge I need..." She reaffirms to herself as she places two fingers to her prebrace and spins it quickly, before thrusting her left hand forward and aims into the headwind.
"LIGHT OF PASSION, TURN INTO SACRED POWER! LOVE PREBRACE!" As she says this, her prebrace begins releasing a large ammount of precure energy to form a condensed ball just above the surface of her palm which she bounces in place several times before tossing it upwards into the air where it explodes into a large stylized tennis ball of energy.
"VICTORY PASSION SHOOOOT!" Can be heard called out over the rushing wind before Victory lets out a pained yell and slams the ball of energy forward with her right arm as hard as she can, her wings immiediately spreading wide as she launches off directly behind it, using the power of the energy she released to form a mobile 'barrier' of sorts to split the headwind and fly along directly behind it towards the end of the course. Once she reaches that sudden drop off, the precure spins and slams the ball of energy again with her racket to shatter it in an explosion of feel-good colors before she drops through towards the finish line.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah watches intently. Her Area Search is entirely focused on Cure Victory. At first held back, she nevertheless fires off magical tennis balls to beat back the headwind, until finally she is confronted with Miss White's cutting winds that prove as the final challenge!
There's an almost bloodthirsty grin as Hannah soaks in the information from her Device. That right arm of Victory's creates a psuedo-barrier that slices into the magic trying to relieve the PreCure of blood and progress, taking one, but not impeding the other until the young woman finally leaps down to the end goal in a shower of colors.
Miss White herself is the first to shoot up and start clapping. Her employees, and the timid magical girls before her soon follow behind. There's a small fireworks display as Victory meets the end goal.
"And look at that! We have a true victor! Cure Victory, huh? A perfect name! Everyone, give her a round of applause!" The cheers that erupt are deafening.
Magical medics will approach Victory. Suddenly, Miss White is in front of the PreCure, smiling.
"...Yo. You did all that with your injured arm, right? Should've been more power in that strike, from how you moved. Here." She slips a WPS card into the young woman's pccket.
"I could use a contract employee like you, kiddo. Let's have lunch some time."
Then she's back over near Gull, Corvus-human, and Hagane. So is Boris. Suddenly, hands are around shoulders.
"SO! Who's next?"
Almost all of the remaining magical girls sign up as clients, rather than risk that insane training.
- Mari Katsu has posed:
The approach from the medics didn't get nearly the reaction from Victory that the sudden appearance from Miss White as she's slipped the WPS card does... The sudden movement causes Victory to blink and even withdraw slightly as as Raquel darts over to hide in the Pretty Cure's hair again. Her eyes narrow ever so slightly on Miss White and she frowns.
"...You caught on to that, huh..." She mumbles in a silent voice, moving her left hand to her right shoulder, glancing towards Gull and the others before she frowns. "....I ...uh-..."
She pauses, realizing that Miss White has already moved on before she can protest any spreading of that information, her eyes moving to the card in her pocket before she closes her eyes in thought before she reaches up to pet Raquel's head in silence.
"Sorry if I made you worry, Raquel-chan.." Victory appologizes to her fairy companion.
"...Don't worry about that right now. Let's just get home before Suzu-chan starts to worry about you staying out so long without calling." Raquel just mumbles a bit, giving Victory an annoyed look before she sighs.
There's a moment where Victory considers that for a moment then sighs before she nods, heading towards the exit before she pauses and turns giving Gull-chan a slight wave before she spreads her wings again and leaps, letting the wind catch under her wings before taking off in the most direct route towards Verone.
