Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka Kaname is not an unusual sight at Mitakihara General Hospital. As a volunteer she's often enough seen walking the halls or helping people in her pastel pink scrubs. What's different this time is that she's here as a patient, which is an almost surreal experience for her. Waking up to the sound of a heart monitor, long since gone once the extent of her injuries were known, made her almost think she'd fallen asleep while on duty and had given her quite a start.

The pain in her head and chest along with the blankets covering her and the hospital gown she was wearing told her this was very much not the case. A few minutes later a nurse came in and asked her several questions about what she remembered. Naturally she couldn't tell the whole truth, saying only that she remembered being at the Kickboxing Natironals in Infinity's gym but nothing about whatever had hurt her.

This was close enough to the vast majority of cases that had come in that night that no one pushed her much further, for which she was grateful. She was really bad at coming up with lies on the fly and was bad at hiding it as well.

Now she's lying in the hospital bed, having woken up from a short nap after having finished her bland dinner. Her hair is down rather than in it's usual short twintails, with a small wrapping that goes about her forehead to keep pressure on a bump she got on the back of her head.

Being a volunteer here means she knows all of the amenities- she could turn the TV on and watch if she wanted, or ask a nurse for one of the magazines from the waiting room but she chooses not to. She rolls onto her side and curls up a bit, wishing she had one of her stuffed animals here with her. She'd asked her parents to bring one for her tomorrow when they visited if she wasn't released by then. She lays there staring at a spot on the wall, eyes rarely blinking, deep in thought with a neutral expression on her face.

It's the same one she always gets when there's something terrible on her mind.

Something is a-rapping at the window, it seems. Then the window slides open (are they even supposed to be able to do that? Apparently this one does.) A fair and somewhat familiar figure in blue and black slips in through the newly-open window, booted feet clicking softly on the floor as she relinquishes her hold on gravity. "My apologies for the intrusion, Kaname-san."

Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka's eyes blink a few times at the light tapping on the window. She freezes in place when the window opens from the outside, but whatever she might be expecting proves incorrect when the blue and black dressed magical girl slips in through her window. Though not immediately familiar she quickly remembers where she saw her from; it was only the night before, after all.

Slowly and carefully she sits up, rubbing her eyes a little before looking back to Mikoto. Unless the concussion is much worse than she was told they were not deceiving her. "No, that's alright." she replies, giving a small shake of her head. "You helped fight that monster last night, didn't you? Thank you for everything you did. We all would have been in a lot of trouble without you and the others." By which she means the nonmagical people in the building.

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
The window slides closed behind her, brief gleam of soft blue touching the hand-grip as it moves. Without the flow it would seem to be of its own accord. "Well, I certainly couldn't stand there and watch," she finally says, settling gracefully into the visitor's chair beside your bed. "Besides, someone else there was a lot braver than I was."

Madoka Kaname has posed:
As the glow shows on the window latch Madoka catches sight of it this time, watching the little display of magic until the window is shut. "Maybe not, but not everyone would. Ah..." She pauses for a moment and shakes her head slightly before smiling. "Is there something I should call you?" she asks, thinking that if her visitor came in magical disguise she shouldn't ask for an actual name.

This is shortly followed by a slightly quizzical look Madoka tilting her head slightly to the side at the mysterious comment, "Who was that?"

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"You can call me Tessen, for now, although some have started usng 'Miss Blue'. I don't mind either." She smiles, warmly and friendly, showing white, even teeth. Nobody's actually called her 'Miss Blue' yet, but it does fit a pattern that seems to exist around the area - Miss White, Mr Black, et cetera.

"That would be someone who went up against the monster without any magic or weapons," she answers the question. "Who was strong enough to resist its sleep spell, and brave enough to fight it, even if she didn't accomplish much."

Madoka Kaname has posed:
Confusion seems to be the emotion of the moment for Madoka, as the dual answer to her question has her unsure how to respond. "Then it's nice to meet you, Tessen," she responds, picking between the two at random and choosing that choice simply because it was spoken first. Then more confusion as it takes her a moment or two to realize that Mikoto's talking about herself, at which point Madoka's eyes turn down to her blanket covered lap, her expression once more going to something neutral. "It might have been brave, but it was also very stupid. In the end all I did was get myself hurt and cause trouble for a lot of people."

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"Thank you, Kaname-san," she answers, still smiling warmly. It -does- happen to be her preferred name. Maybe she's not entirely sure what prompted her to suggest the other name. Sometimes she just gets these notions, ways to do things... it's almost as if she's had some sort of training before. Except she hasn't. In this life.

"Well, that's the thing about it, isn't it? We all take risks, when we go into battle. We accept that we might get hurt, even killed." She gestures briefly with one slender hand. "And all we get for it is these snazzy outfits."

Madoka Kaname has posed:
"You can call me Madoka if you like," the pink haired girl offers in response. She usually prefers using first names with people when she can herself, something that was reinforced even after spending a couple of years in America.

She looks over towards Tessen so the other girl knows she is listening, but it takes her a little while to decide how to respond. "If it was only myself I would agree with you, but a lot of damage was caused to the gym because of what I did. If things had gone even a little worse or the ambulances were a little slower a lot of people could have died. I didn't know what I was doing and I should have stopped and left it those of you in the snazzy outfits."

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"Thank you, Madoka," the young Mage says. "And yes, there was some damage to the gym. But I'm not here to take you to task for it. I can already see that you've done so enough yourself." It would have been nice to not have to let the gym burn down. But sometimes these things happen. "Knowing what to do in a fight is something that can be learned, it isn't something that even we 'snazzy outfit girls' are born knowing. It's a matter of taking a moment to think things through, and spending some more time planning it out in advance - knowing what resources you have, and what can happen when you use them. You've never needed to do that before... now, you have an idea of what might be required."

Madoka Kaname has posed:
Several more quiet moments pass and Madoka resumes looking down at her lap. Whatever effect the words are intended to have they don't seem to get much of a reaction from her. "You all work very hard to be able to do the things you do, don't you?" she eventually comments. "Having to go to school and manage the rest of your lives as well, I'm not sure how you manage it. I just know that if you didn't the world would be a much more frightening and dangerous place."

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"Yes, we do," Tessen murmurs. "It's a huge responsibility... not just a lark. I wish more of those girls who write in those silly magazines understood that." She reaches over, clasping your hand briefly. "It's people like you, Madoka, that remind me of what I'm fighting for. Why I put on these snazzy outfits and go out there to fight monsters. And... and why it matters, that I keep doing it."

Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka is surprised when her hand is taken, looking up to Tessen in that moment. She doesn't seem to mind at all, but neither was it something she was expecting. The words that come next have her looking away again but this time it's a little different. Off to the side, meandering rather than finding any fixed spot; the mark of a shy girl who feels embarrassed.

She deflects a little, subtly shifting the topic to be a little less about her. "I think that there's always a reason to keep fighting, even if you can't see it. There are a lot of people and wonderful things that deserve protection in this world..." Now she perks up a little, offering Tessen a small smile, "I'm happy if you think that I'm one of them."

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Tessen nods, making eye contact for a moment, before turning away. "Thank you, Madoka. And never, evver, let anyone tell you that you shouldn't keep trying... keep fighting, for what your heart yearns for, for what you believe in. Find your truth, and hold on with both hands, and never, ever, let it go. And that's the most magical thing in all the worlds." She pats your hand again, with a soft, almost winsome little smile. "Get well soon, Madoka."
