Interview with a White-san
Date of Scene: 11 November 2015
Location: Mitakihara - Downtown
Synopsis: Mikoto gets a job interview.
Cast of Characters: Hannah Sharpe, Mikoto Nakajima

Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Miko, or more accurately, Tessen, would find a sudden text from Miss White. It's fairly short. 'WPS Building, Downtown Mitakihara. 10 pm.'

Once she arrives, and checked in past security (provided she doesn't simply magical girl her way in!), it wouldn't be hard to find 'Kasagami White's office. It's at the top floor, befitting the CEO of the company, and is large and swank. Plush leather chairs, a massive desk with a high-end computer, coffee mugs, one of those fancy Galaxybucks single-cup coffee machines, a tv tuned into some corporate news channel, and motivational posters on the walls.

Miss White is making coffee after the massive Russian man waves in her new guest. He feels almost as magical as Hannah.

"Heeeey! So you came. Sorry about being so abrupt, but let's just say circumstances are what they are. So let's get to the point. You seem competent. Tell me, what all can you do?"

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
At precisely nine-forty-five that evening, a young woman in a royal-blue skirt-suit saunters into the WPS building. She shows some ID suitable for the role she's playing - it shows her simply as 'Ms Blue' - and is allowed into the elevator to head up to Ms White's office.

She looks briefly around the office, assessing the place quickly, before stepping up to the CEO's desk.

"Thank you for inviting me," she says, taking a seat and crossing her legs. "You prefer to go straight to the point, I see. Good to know. Are you familiar with the term 'Belkan Knight'?"

Hannah Sharpe has posed:
"Yup! Time is money and all!" She gives a big grin before stirring her coffee.

"Want some?" She then offers before taking a sip.

"Belkan Knight? Nope. Never heard of one. How about filling me in?" She'll pause to make and give Mikoto her coffee if she wants any, before sitting down, leaning back in her chair.

"You definitely use a Device, so I assumed you were a Mage like me. Still, the magic /does/ feel a bit different. And I seem to recall this big armored jerk that got in my way some time back when I was going after a Lost Logia." Miss White huffs. Clearly a sore memory.

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"That it is," Ms Blue agrees. "And I'll pass, coffee really isn't my thing."

She considers for a moment, listening as Ms White describes her own experience, then nods. "You're probably more familiar with other schools of magic, then," she says. "I've noticed that most of the mages here seem to favor long-range heavy bombardment spells. Belkan combat spells tend to focus more on close-range engagements, hand to hand and weapon augmentation, that sort of thing." And yet she makes a lot of use of that Flicker Shot, doesn't she?

Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Sip. Delicious coffee! Miko doesn't know what she's missing!

Miss White nods a bit as she ponders.

"Yup, that seems to be the case. I've only seen one other melee focused mage that isn't decked out in the heavy stuff like you. We must be the exceptions."

Her head tilts. "Huh, makes sense. So you've got range specialists and then melee specialists. Good, could use another one around here. Homura has range more than covered, Gull-chan's good in close, and me obviously. A third, sturdier type could be useful."

Her arms cross, and she tilts her head.

"So, tell me: are you interested in a job? And what do you want? What's your ambition? Our job here at WPS is to find magical girls, especially Puella Magi, that have no idea which way is up or down, train them, make sure they know how to survive out there. Give them backup. For a price, of course. There's a few other things, too, but you'll learn that if you prove loyal and useful."

Miss White leans in.

"Blue-san, what do you use your magic for? What's your end goal?"

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Ms Blue makes no mention of the Centai Zel, or their own role in the enforcement of Belka's power. Some things aren't meant to be shared. She makes brief mental notes of what White reveals about the others, and her company's role, and nods.

"I'll admit, I don't know much about Puella Magi. I know they use a radically different magic system than we do, and they're involved with those 'witches' somehow, but that's about all." She considers it for a moment, and leans in to respond to Miss White.

"My end goal? That's a rather intimate question, don't you think?"

Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Miss White shrugs. "A bunch of ignorant kids who get sold on dreams and then kicked intoa river to drown is what they are." Comes the woman, scowling.

Then she just laughs.

"Obviously. I want to know who I'm working with. You don't need to tell me the whole story. But I want to know what you're after, to see if you'll fit into the company, and how I can help make sure you reach that. This place is built on ambitions, Blue-san. To reach for the sky and rip the stars down from the heavens. That kind of thing. /Dreams/."

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
"Alright," Ms Blue says, rolling the idea over in her mind. "I want -freedom-, more than anything else. Freedom to make my own choices, my own life. If I'm going to work for anyone else, I want to know who they are, what their own motivations are, and be free to discuss that with them."

That's pretty ambitious so far, alright, if not exactly what you'd expect of a team player. Then she adds the kicker. "Most of all, though, I want to see humanity reach for the stars. The Belkan Empire spans a thousand worlds, Miss White. Do you have the slightest idea how vast that is, compared to this... cesspit of paranoia and prejudice, that I find myself trapped in?"

Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Miss White smiles broadly.

"We're of the same mind then. Alright."

Her head tilts. She whistles.

"That's freaking huge. Big. Mondo big. I like it! What you're saying is that little old ball of blue here is a backwater caught up in its own petty wars and strifes and people getting killed and hurt and suffering for stupid, petty reasons. And that's before you add magic and every outsider jerk trying to come claim a piece of it."

She raises both hands.

"I think I do. Welcome to Earth, Miss Blue. The biggest, most broken, most twisted place to live that you could find outside of some of those gaseous planets that actively hate the concept of sentient life."

She sits up, and rests her head on an elbow.

"You'll get your freedom. If you find a job morally repugnant, then don't do it. One of my other employees is a bit like that. The only thing I ask, is if you work on something with us, you follow it through. We're generally not good people. We're ambitious, we do whatever we have to in order to get the job done and our clients happy. The rules are simple. Do what I tell you on the job, always make sure you're striving for your dreams, follow through, and keep each other alive on the job. What you do outside of that, and how you do the job, I don't care. Sound reasonable?"

Then, she points back to herself.

"Well, the stars are nice and all, but I believe in fixing your own fence first. I want power, Miss Blue. Every kind of it. Wealth. Knowledge. Control. Magic. Fighting strength. Political power. Everything. Because I want to change this rotten little world, stop all the needless killing, destroy every kind of youma or other dark creature that devours people, or anything that touches those I care about. I want a paradise here, without all of this useless, pointless death and destruction that keeps on repeating itself."

A wink.

"Spreading something like that to the stars...heh, it'd be fun."

Mikoto Nakajima has posed:
Mikoto listens, again taking mental notes. It isn't exactly a terribly onerous set of rules. She ... she's worked with worse, hasn't she? Undercover work is always like that. You have to act loyal to the organization, the leaders, in order to win their trust, to dig deep and find out the real facts. And she just might be exactly what she says.

"I believe that I can work with those guidelines," she says, after a moment's consideration. "Keeping my partners alive is high on my priority list anyways."

Once Hannah enumerates her desire for power and revolution, Ms Blue's smile widens. "Do you know the old saying from Mao Tse-Tung? 'Power comes from the barrel of a gun'? I'll share an old Belkan saying with you... 'Power is the ability to create change. Revolution is the ability to get people to -accept- change.'." She gestures with both hands, spreading them as if letting something fly free, or tossing it into the air. "Sophie Segbrecht, Twenty-third Kaiser."

Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Miss White claps her hands.

"Great! I like being alive after all." Smirk.

She considers the saying. "I'm better with big honking weapons than trying to get people to accept that kind of thing, but hey, maybe you've got some pointers. ...Actually I'm pretty good at making enemies and friends. Often at the same time. It's a little weird."

A hand is held out.

"Let's start us a revolution and touch the stars some time, huh? Welcome aboard. Thursday you'll get your first assignment. I hope you don't mind arson on the job."
