While Cure Gull, Sailor Moon, Cute Wolf Ikiko, Sakura Kinomoto, and Sayaka Miki are happily eating their burgers and chatting, there’s actually one more who should have been there, who isn’t. One Ikuto Tsukiyomi.
‘Catch up if you can,’ Ikuto had told Sailor Moon. But ultimately it was him who hadn’t appeared at the burger place when they’d arrived, and the others had joined them. Why? Simple. That was a friendly thing to do. He would be getting to know them, and they’d expect him to tell them about himself.
More than that, they just might start to like him. And he couldn’t have that. Not yet.
That didn’t mean he didn’t want to. No, not at all. He did. He wanted to try to make friends. But he couldn’t afford to this early in the game. Besides that, he couldn’t spare the time at the moment… Kazuomi already chewed him out for not working.
And so, as the sky begins to darken, Ikuto stands atop the roof of a nearby building, looking down at the gaggle of girls, the strap of his violin case looped over an arm, his face unreadable. They really look like they’re having a lot of fun down there…
Yoru, hanging back and off of Ikuto’s right shoulder, watches the gathering with mischievous eyes and a twitching tail. “Gonna go down there?” he asks. “It’s been a while since I’ve had a good burger-nya.”
Ikuto doesn’t reply for a moment. His expression betrays nothing, but it doesn’t need to. Yoru knows Ikuto well enough to know what he’s going to say. Nonetheless, Ikuto voices it.
“…Don’t have time. Director-san is already ticked at me. He wants five eggs tonight.” Ikuto knows he’s not going to get that many X-Eggs tonight. But, so does Kazuomi. It’s an excuse to make his life miserable, that’s all. Then again, Ikuto already knows that too.
“Nyaaaa…” Yoru sighs. Floating into the air, Yoru flailed around next to Ikuto’s head as he exclaimed, “GRRR, I hate that guy so much-nya! Why don’t you just leave? That’d show him, if you just left and all his manpower disappeared-nya.”
Again Ikuto stays quiet. He looks up. Even though it’s getting into the evening hours, he still can’t see the stars. The lights of the city are too bright.
A word passes his lips. A name.
An answer to Yoru’s question as to why he can’t leave. His sister. He pushes her away too, because he doesn’t want her as deeply caught in Easter’s web as he is. But he does care about her. Otherwise he would have left that horrible company years ago.
Yoru’s ears droop. But before he can say anything, Ikuto looks out over the city again, his expression hardening. “…Come on. We better get what we can tonight,” he says. With a sparkle and a pop, his cat ears and tail appear, and he turns away from the burger place and all the girls having fun there. And then he leaps up, to another building. He has work to do.
