Syaoran is a descendant of the famous Li clan of sorcerers, and therefore from Clow Reed himself. Self-reliant almost to the point of being a loner, Syaoran believes that he is the rightful inheritor of the Clow Cards rather than anyone else, and to that end, he has travelled from Hong Kong to Tokyo, ready to locate and capture the Clow Cards himself. While this puts him in direct competiton with anyone else who might be trying to capture the cards, Syaoran feels no one else deserves to hold them. Syaoran possesses magical strength of his own, being well trained in Eastern magic; he has a high degree of magical sensitivity, can summon various elements, and is an excellent swordsman to boot.
