Study Time Disaster! | |
---|---|
Date of Scene: | 28 June 2015 |
Location: | Mitakihara - Infinity University |
Synopsis: | Mamoru, Hannah, Shiori, Suzuki, and even a guest appearance by Makoto round out a lovely study time in Hannah's dorm! But will acadamia be interrupted!? |
Cast of Characters: | Hannah Sharpe, Suzuki Natsume, Mamoru Chiba, Makoto Kino, Shiori Sato |
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
For a seeming ball of energy and athleticism, Hannah Sharpe's dorm is noticably a place of almost obsessive order. Plates are stacked neatly in cupboards, pans and pats are logically stacked by sizes, a quick glance in the fridge would show tidy ingredients all sorted in containers that are stacked, or otherwise set out in ways meant to make her life easier. All in all, everything seems to have it's place. Sparkling clean, too! It may be difficult to say whether it's some mental thing for the girl, or just a way to cope with being blind.
There's also a ton of labels and notes in almost everything, rather annoyingly in braille for anyone else in the home. The 'living room' area is roughly small apartment sized, as to be expected from such an expensive and modern school. There's a dog bowl and water in one corner, a desk with a computer, as well as a decent sized table that probably serves at the dinner table. A couch as well, which a certain siberian husky is laid out on comfortably as if he owned the thing.
Hannah, dressed in a pair of slacks and yellow t-shirt, will answer the door to her study buddies with her trademark winning grin.
"And I was starting to worry that people would not come! In, in, please! Would anyone like something to eat or drink?" Hannah sounds positively /excited/. Seems she doesn't get to do this kind of thing very often! Then she's walking into the kitchen to fetch drinks and anything else people want.
A few objects of curiousity might be the plushies that seem to disrupt the order of the room, perched at odd spots, or the pictures of her family, or that brown haired girl Hannah's always with.
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
Suzuki is here at the Hannah's dorm! Also completely unsurprised by the obsessive order. She has heard about blind people and how they label and make sure everything is exactly where it belongs. Really, it was very admirable and fascinating. "...Your housekeeping skills are amazing, Hannah." Suzuki comments as she peeks through the doorway, "...Thank you for the invitation." She adds with a small smile, not that Hannah could see it.
At present, Suzuki looked dressed up more for a formal occasion than a study group, as she was wearing a beautiful kimono, it was currently a bunch of dark colors with stars and moons, and some small rabbits floating around the moons. It was one of the sorts that was somewhat more designed for wear around semi-casually, as it didn't drag on the ground. "...The plushies are cute." And then Suzuki produces, from one of the arms of her kimono... a small bag of doggy treats, which she gently offers to Hannah. "...For Boris." She says quietly, beginning to make her way towards the studying area. "Some water would be nice." She adds, with regards to the question about drinks or food!
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
There's that slight cant of Mamoru's head that comes with his signature small half-smile, at Hannah's door -- she'll be able to tell instantly that he's moving really stiffly. Anyone here can. Despite that, there's laughter in his tone as he greets her. "Yo. If I'm ever a no-show with no text or call, you can assume there's something very wrong," he tells her as he comes in and then trails after, school bag in one hand and small shopping bag in the other. The latter he presents to Hannah from the kitchen door: meibitsu!
"This isn't a very spectacular gift, but thank you for inviting us to your home," he says almost formally, holding the bag out. Inside is a bakery box with an assortment of sweets, including very prettily wrapped dangos.
He's not very fancily dressed himself, just his standard after-hours rich-boy hipster clothes. Expensive everything, skinny jeans, shiny fashionable shoes, designer t-shirt, vintage blazer, et cetera. Holding his stance really carefully, he glances back at Suzuki and grins outright, then adds politely, "If you've made tea or coffee, I'd love either, but don't put yourself out if you haven't." Really carefully like he's ninety, for godsake.
- Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto's path here crossed with Mamoru's outside, and she's giving him a narrow, very suspicious side-eye as he makes his stiff and creaky way into the dorm. She doesn't yet move to follow him in, but instead stands in the doorway like she's not sure she's willing to cross the threshold.
"You seem pretty uncomfortable, Mamoru-san," Mako comments, her tone and expression unusually guarded. "Did something happen?"
Wow, *rude.*
- Shiori Sato has posed:
Shiori got his information about the location of the place via a text from Mamoru. He's a little nervous honestly. He doesn't know anybody there, really. Except Mamoru, who he's only met like once. He's hoping not to impose on anyone with his presence, thus he's brought a package of cookies! They're nothing special, just the store-bought kind, but at least they're good.
He greets Hannah as she opens the door with a smile. He wears a simple short-sleeved polo shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Very nondescript outfit. "Hello there," he greets hesitantly. "My name's Shiori, I was told there was a study group happening here?" Pause. "Oh, um... I brought somethingfor everyone. It's not much, I'm sorry." He offers the cookies to Hannah.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah shoots a grin to the sound of Suzuki's voice, leaning out from the kitchen and flashing a thumbs-up.
"Just one of those tricks you learn! Like blocking with your elbows, ducking, and aiming a right hook to the jaw! Do try to keep things in place, though, please everyone! Or at least put them back where you found them." She asks of the group, and then there's drink orders being given!
"One water, one coffee, and...mmm?"
Gifts! Hannah looks touched at the duo of gifters, taking cookies and odango alike! They're set down in the kitchen for now. The sounds of brewing coffee can be heard despite Mamoru's earlier protest. She clearly intends to be a good host.
"Pleasure to meet you, Shiori-san! Any friend of Chiba-san or Suzu-san's is a friend of mine, as they say back home! Take a seat! Get comfortable. Hannah Sharpe!" Warmth and enthusiasm reigns. Not good for American stereotypes here.
One of those 'dango are being nommed absent mindedly, Hannah coming out with a nicely arranged tray of cookies and various drinks. She could've made a good waitress. It's sat on the middle of the table, the girl not needing much help in her home turf. The there's snacks for Boris. Suzuki will have a dog at her heels the entire night.
Makoto, for her part, isn't notice amidst the shenanigans! Likely due to they're still not quite inside.
"Is someone else out there?" She asks in general.
A pause. "Ah...are you alright, Chiba-san? I know our last practice was brutal, but I did not think I worked you over that badly." Her grin is a little teasing, but concerned.
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
Mamoru was moving very stiffly? That didn't look just like kendo practice stiffness either. And he was giving her an outright... grin? Strange. Different from usual. Perhaps he was attacked by a monster? "...Mamoru-san, you are looking stiff and sore." She states the obvious quietly, before reaching into the arm of her kimono, withdrawing a small first aid kit. Which she opens. Out of it, she pulls out a small bottle of painkillers. "...Here, to go with your tea or coffee. It should help you be able to focus better." She says softly, offering the bottle for him to take a pill or two from, depending on how he tended to do his doses.
And then Makoto arrives. Another tall girl. Her hair was brown. A foreigner like Hannah? Hannah seemed to know a lot of them. Suzuki gives her a very formal look, before bowing towards her. "...Hello." She says towards her, straightening up quietly as she began to make her way to the study area and take a careful seat. "..." She looks up towards Makoto silently for several long moments. It was not a judging or an unfriendly look at all though. Instead her gaze moves away again as she fidgets absently, making sure it was out of sight underneath the table. Shy tall girl!
And that shyness is only compounded as Shiori arrives. She looks up towards Shiori, offering him a polite smile and bow of her head towards him. "...Hello, Shiori-san. I am Suzuki Natsume. It is a pleasure to meet you." She murmurs, her tone very formal. Fidget fidget. She looks towards the table again, beginning to think on things. Crap. New people. Two of them. Two new people. And she's probably the outsider from another school, too!
Luckily, Hannah was there to help overwhelm Suzuki further! Okay, actually, she takes Suzuki's focus off of the new people. "... It is important for you to know where things are so that you can find them easily and not trip, correct?" Suzuki questions towards Hannah, offering a slight smile. "Ah, uhm... next time, I can bring my tea-making set... and treat you to some traditional tea-ceremony-style tea." She mumbles quietly in an offer.
When the tray of cookies and drinks are brought out, Suzuki reaches for a sweet and begins to nibble on it. Her one weakness, sweet things! Especially ice cream! Delicious delicious sweets. "...These are delicious." She comments politely, beginning to carefully pull out her study books. In between nibbles of her cookie and slipping a treat to Boris. He's going to end up so spoiled by the animal-lover!
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Kino-san! You did come! This is-- yes, as she said! And Sato Shiori, and Natsume Suzuki; Sharpe-san, this is Kino Makoto--" And he's being asked (RUDELY BY MAKO OMG) all around if he's all right. His hands go up, arms moving stiffly, and he's not completely able to subdue a wince at the sudden motion. "No no, I'm fine, I just--"
--saved by the painkillers. "Thank you," Mamoru tells Suzuki gratefully, taking the painkillers. That's a nice normal thing, right? Painkillers. People take them when they're hurt. Hurray! No, Makoto wanted to know what happened and she's giving him side-eye. What the hell does he say happened.
"I, uh-- bit myself shaving?"
There's a flat silence, and then he laughs uncomfortably. "No, I just-- was doing a physics experiment and it backfired. You know. Immovable object, unstoppable force..." This is so awkward. "I'm okay," he stresses, "it was very..."
Despite himself, he starts laughing. "Illustrative. There was quite the explosion. Have you ever seen that American show, Mythbusters? Like that. I just feel a bit like a wall or two hit me." MAYBE MAKOTO WILL GET IT. MAYBE. BUT THAT WOULD BE OKAY. Maybe Suzuki will get it! But she wasn't there... MAYBE SHIORI WILL GET IT. But that's probably okay too. "Anyway I'm fine, thank you for your concern."
Mamoru clears his throat and carefully moves to sit at the table. He thinks he handled that well.
- Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto, digesting Mamoru's reply to her question, says nothing for several seconds. You can almost see the '...' forming in the air over her head.
And then, clearly, something clicks in her head, although what isn't quite clear, because abruptly she takes a step back from the door and looks to the others present. "I'm really sorry, Sharpe-san, I've just remembered there was something else I was supposed to do this evening. Maybe I can come next time, if that's okay." A beat, then she's inclining her head politely to Shiori and Suzuki - "Sato-san, Natsume-san."
She doesn't even begin to wait for a response from anyone; in the next moment, Makoto is striding away at a brisk, purposeful clip.
- Shiori Sato has posed:
"Good to meet you, Hannah-san," Shiori replies. At her request, he heads to where the others are, and finds a seat. "Hello," he greets politely. Not to worry Suzuki, Shiori seems rather shy himself, given the nervous smile. So she isn't the only one that's feeling awkward! Mamoru introduces him, and he says politely, "It's good to meet everyone."
And then Mamoru says something about 'feeling like walls hit him'. Sadly Shiori had little view into the upper floors, so he didn't really see where Tuxedo-san went at the party. Just up and away, thrown by a very powerful arm! He does wince at the description. "Ouch. I hope you feel better soon, he offers.
Though suddenly Makoto has to leave all of a sudden. If he notices anything weird about her sudden departure, Shiori doesn't mention it. He raises his hand and waves. "Hope to see you again!"
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah smiles as Suzu-chan is just being so kind to the slightly abrasive, but otherwise friendly young man. The exchange between Makoto and Mamoru has the blind girl's eyes boring in the back of Mamoru's head. Especially when she's suddenly dashing off with apologies! Makoto gets called out to!
"Ah...same, Makoto-san! Come...over some time?" A sigh, and she slumps forward.
"Really, sounds like a sweet girl, but really needs to learn to be able to step up and stand up." She mutters, mostly to herself. People without confidence don't seem to be a concept that Hannah can /get/.
Then she marches right over to Mamoru in that doorframe, with a wide smile and a brow that twitches entirely at odds with her face.
Someone dun goofed.
There's an arm reaching up, and then Hannah tries to grab the taller young man's neck, bringing him down a good few inches. She's hardly short, but this isn't going to feel all that great as she locks him with one arm, and proceeds to give the worst of boxing maneuvers: the Noogie of Doom!
Knuckles grind into immacualte hair, utterly messing up Mamo's do'.
"What was all that about!? What did you do to make that girl annoyed with you, Chiba-san!? When you are in my home, you are going to be NICE AND POLITE to everyone, got it!? No chasing away my guests!" Shaaaake shake shake!
Then she lets go, and is smiling warmly again.
"I am glad we had this conversation." Then she's back over into the kitchen to fetch herself an iced tea.
"Exactly, Suzu-chan! I would always bump into the corners, or knock over plates. My friend Ao helped me set everything up!" Having a friend /definitely/ helps in that regard.
She's just walking out of the kitchen, mid-tea-sip when Mamoru Chiba drops words that evoke far, far-too-recent memories. Witch-hatted girls, evil men trying to snatch them away from her, and a dashing, thoroughly irritating and yet endearing man that even someone so jaded as she can't but help think of as a hero.
Two walls. Tuxedo Kamen was tossed through exactly that number of walls last night. She chokes on her drink, coughing and sputtering. Suzu and Shiori might want to help her out here.
"B...baka! Exaggerations have...cough...their limits!" She plays it off as further irritation with Mamoru. Inwardly, her heart's pounding.
A free-handed wave.
"Guh...second..." She's back into the kitchen, and gets all those coughs out. Her eyes are wide, the implications weighing her down. A deep, deep breath. When she walks out, she's all smiles, it looking a little weary. There /is/ a bit of fatigue about the girl. Maybe she's getting sick?
"Tea ceremony!? Suzu-chan, it is a date! I would /love/ to see you perform!" A giggle here, Hannah hardly one to be shy about herself in any way.
One more glance to Mamoru.
"Wear protective gear next time. Science is really dangerous sometimes."
Then she's taking out study books! The first topic? Math!
"Oooh, this one is accounting! My specialty~." She'll start on her own work, occasionally leaning over to help others! They'll have to spell it out for her, of course.
"So Shiori-san, what school do you go to?" Comes Hannah, visibly trying to pull the new guy into their ragtag study group.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Boris is also devouring treats rapidly! Suzuki Natsume will be having a fluffy foot warmer for the rest of the evening!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"...You are bad at lying, but that is fine." Suzuki responds simply to Mamoru as he does his explanation. It wasn't important, really. "Odd things happen in this city, though, so it's also a reasonable explanation..." She muses aloud to herself, idly opening one of her books. "Painkillers are more important than reasons at this point." She adds, clearly not thinking too negatively about Mamoru's non-explanation. "...I have never heard of this 'Mythbusters' show though. It sounds fascinating."
And then Makoto takes her leave. Suzuki gives an awkward smile towards her, nodding towards her. "Take care, Makoto-san." And then the other elephant in the room talks! ... Okay Shiori isn't really an elephant, Suzuki is more like a timid mouse at the moment. A very big timid mouse. Who was very helpful. "...What are you needing to study today, Shiori-san? ...So long as it is not english or german, I may be able to help or share notes with you." English grammar is strange! She shifts carefully, ensuring that her kimono was properly smoothed out. "...It's good to meet you as well." She adds towards Shiori with a slight smile.
And then Hannah is noogie-ing Mamoru and grinding and chiding Mamoru. "...That is not a good way to treat someone who is incredibly sore and likely mildly grouchy due to the soreness, Sharpe-san." Suzuki says towards Hannah calmly. "...Regardless, though, thank you for having us. Perhaps we can have the study group at my place sometime as well, and I can treat you to hospitality." This would prove to be a terrible idea, but that would be in the future, most likely! And then Hannah is coughing and sputtering. Suzuki is standing in an instant, beginning to pat Hannah's back to help her get out the liquid. "Focus on getting the fluid out instead of talking." She murmurs. Until Hannah has gone to get it all out. Well, good then! "...Yes, I will make sure to bring it next time then." She says with a small nod. Once she's settled back down, she slips Boris another treat, before opening a book on german. A beginner's book, introduction to the language, she was only in the first or second chapter. Look, learning german is a priority right now for her, even if it's not one of her school subjects!
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru, meanwhile, is in a world of hurt from that noogie. Everywhere bruises and now manhandled and noogied! He's not even upset about his hair. He's just hurriedly downing Suzuki's painkillers with his coffee, not even protesting that he didn't do anything to piss Makoto off; for all he knows, he could have. Maybe she's still sore about his being a killjoy with Sanjouin.
Blissfully unaware of any suspicions he may have tripped in Hannah, he cough-laughs at Suzuki. "Was it that obvious? Crazy things do happen, though, yes. And normally my protective gear is enough-- it just doesn't help when things are crazy instead of normal. Don't worry about me, though, I'm sure I did something to annoy Kino-san, and Sharpe-san is our hostess..."
Mildly grouchy? He starts laughing to himself again even if his body feels like it's ready to give out. The look on Nephrite's face. THE LOOK ON JUPITER'S FACE.
Once he's stopped feeling like he's on fire, Mamoru takes out his calculus book and his tablet and stylus: so much neater when you can print off PDFs of your notes if you want to share them! He doesn't actually start working on it yet, though, and instead pays more attention to what the others are working on, leaning a little, smiling at various handwriting, adjusting his glasses, speaking when spoken to or when someone looks like they're struggling over something.
- Shiori Sato has posed:
Suddenly Hannah is noogie-ing Mamoru, and Shiori winces. Poor guy... he'd just mentioned being in pain, and being pulled around like that probably doesn't feel real great. Though before he can say anything to Mamoru about it suddenly Hannah is coughing and sputtering. "Hannah-san? Are you all right?" he asks. Suzuki seems to have things under control, but Shiori keeps a close watch to make sure she doesn't need more help.
Once he's sure she's all right, Shiori visibly relaxes. Hannah's question gets a smile, and a response, "Seiyou Public. Tenth grade."
The mention of what he needed help studying with gets a chuckle. "Well, I have to admit, English IS my worst subject. But I'll take any help I can get with algebra. The numbers start to move around after a while looking at them and I could have sworn I left that five in the previous equation."
Suddenly Mamoru starts laughing for no real apparent reason. Shiori's eyebrow raises, and he sloooooowly turns to look at the other boy. "...Are you okay? You didn't hit your head real bad or something did you?" What if Mamoru got concussed by his science injury?!
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
There's a long grunting sound from Hannah at Suzuki's initial comment, the sound of one actually thinking over her actions. Both eyes close, she looks down, and hmph's. Arm cross!
"He deserved it for making me worry! Besides, if he is weak enough to die from just that, then he is not worthy of being my opponent!" Fist-pump dramatically! Hannah Sharpe can be an absolute cornball sometimes.
Then she walks over, claps the young man on the back, and sits back down.
After Suzuki helps her gets that tea out of her throat of course! Gasp gasp, napkin!
"Lady and a scholar, Suzu-chan." Comes Hannah, slipping into English. At least it's themely, given the study-based elephant int he room for most here.
"Glad you are okay." A smile here. She means it, regardless of her newfound suspicions. If anything, it makes them more sincere.
Each little admission from Mamoru gets a deep, sage-like nod and an 'mmm-mmm!'. She's soon back to non-irritated-Hannah mode, dutifully tap-tap-tapping on a braille e-typewriter as she churns out mathematics. Not even using a calculator, the cad. Infinity is a rough school, and money was /not/ why she got in.
She does 'look' back up though.
"...Seriously though, you really okay? I do not want you being hauled off by men in white coats because of a concussion." One final tap, and she walks over, feeling Mamoru's forehead. Medicine clearly isn't her forte. That laughing almost reminds her of the Professor (and herself!). Not a good sign.
Shiori gets a laugh.
"Oh man, the Castle Town!" The last bit is in english. Seems she's offering impromptu lessons here.
"Beautiful place! Always the smell of flowers, I love passing by! Are you in any clubs? ...There is some kind of really weird student councel there, right?" Pause. An evil grin.
"What about any sports?" Someone should save Shiori immediately!
Of course, then she's leaning in, and offering algebra help!
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
Oh good. Mamoru is taking the painkillers. That would hopefully help him get over the pain of being blasted through several walls. At least, the pain of whatever he's equating to that. Suzuki assumed he wasn't /really/ blasted through two walls. Probably. "'I bit myself shaving' being your first thing that you said implied it was a lie and made it obvious. If you'd started with the experiment explanation it would have been more believable." She pauses, blinking a few moments. Wait. Why is she giving Mamoru advice on how to lie better? That's a silly thing to do. Especially since she ALSO was terrible at lying. Also Mamoru was laughing. What? Okay maybe he wasn't grouchy, maybe he was /delirious/. "...Are you sure you're alright, Chiba-san? Perhaps you should make sure you take it easy or take a visit to the doctor later." She suggests politely.
"Ah? You go to Seiyou public as well, Shiori-san? We go to the same school then, though I'm a grade below you." Also Shiori probably has heard rumors about Suzuki, someone who is willing to help anyone with just about anything benign, though also very unapproachable and generally considered a 'cool' girl. She is also known to be extremely athletic, have good grades, and generally be that stereotypical 'perfect' girl that everyone admires, that is only seen in anime. ... She also is extremely shy and gets overwhelmed easily in groups. And tends to be quiet.
"...Algebra is simple once you get used to it, just make sure to properly track your work in your notes and that will help keep the numbers in place." She says softly, carefully turning a page of her german book. "Another trick can also to be use a pencil-tip to track exactly where you are in the problem to ensure that you are focused on where it is pointing, to aid in not forgetting your place or forgetting to put something where it belongs."
Hannah is given a careful look, she tilts her head curiously as Hannah talks. "...Your... opponent?" Somehow, that conversation felt strangely ... familiar, like she'd heard something similar before? It bothered her, because she couldn't put a face to it, or make a connection. Annoying. Her memory was usually better than that. "...Oh right, Kendo class. Of course." She says, smiling towards Hannah as she finishes recovering. "...Fluid is meant to go in your stomach, not your lungs. Unless you're a diver, perhaps." She adds, because she'd read something on that once. Some strange breathable fluid. And then Hannah starts checking if Mamoru is sick too! Look, so many girls doting over you, Mamoru! You must feel incredibly uncomfortable right now!
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"No, it was just-- the experiment was a resounding success," Mamoru tells Shiori, mouth twitching. And he continues Suzuki-wards, "Though I hit my head when I hit my everything, I promise I didn't hit it that hard..." Then Hannah and Suzuki are asking Shiori questions instead of him, so he can eye Shiori a lot to see if he suspects anything -- especially given he's apparently so bad at lying.
His distraction is such that he doesn't actually see Hannah coming, nor have time to duck away from her reaching to touch his forehead -- and he's totally unprepared for the contact, to boot.
SMASH CUT:
Halls of translucent white stone, luminous and arching, columns; ash in the air and the scents and sounds of war in the background, screams and burning; an incredible lightness of step. Dull orange glows against things that should by rights be pure white; running full tilt, the clank of armor. A sword, heavy and sharp and finely wrought. Someone crying helplessly. A staircase, and a brilliantly shining figure in ephemeral, weightless white, such long silver hair. The figure reaching, frantic, tears of silver cascading down her impossibly bright face, too bright to make out--
Mamoru flinches away from the touch, then laughs uncomfortably. "I'm fine, I promise," he says, scooting his chair back a little, unsettled and no longer laughing, at least. "Where are you at in your German, Natsume-san?"
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Hannah, too, can't help but feel some worry in her heart. It must be paranoia, she tells herself, but after her rising suspicions she can't take any chances. A giggle.
"The fist beats a sword any day, Suzu-chan~. Seriously, you two and Rurako-chan give me a workout!" What /else/ could it be?
Then she touches Mamoru's forehead, and is brought into a place other than her own. At least in mind! Hannah's eyes go wide, those unfocused orbs for the first time in her life growing tight. They move in the way of the sighted, peering at something in her mind, the girl growing weak and gasping as she's flooded with sensations that have been mere concepts until now. She falls backwards, likely to need both to catch her lest she hit her head.
~~Elsewhere~~
White stone, the scents of destruction and death fill her. A girl with long, silver hair, reaching for someone. Hannah's hand, in dream and body, grasps desperately for this poor, crying girl. Something about that face, in agony, pierces at her soul. She burns it into her mind, just before she collapses in both worlds, her first vision one of tragic beauty that will haunt her for years, if not the rest of her life.
Something very nearly clicks, but right now, she's too overwhelmed to make another logical leap.
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"That could explain it, you did hit your head, so your thoughts were jumbled when you thought on the explanation." Suzuki says softly. "I apologize for implying you were intentionally lying." She adds, giving a bow of her head towards Mamoru. "..." She pauses, remembering Mamoru said she could be less formal with him. "So, you know. You can probably ignore what I said about lying and the biting your lip thing... especially since it's plausible to do both." ... Okay she's bad at informal. Seriously, who taught this girl how to socialize? ...Oh right. Nobody.
And then there were questions of how far she is in her german. She rubs the back of her head. "...I've managed to puzzle my way through roughly half of the first chapter. It is difficult without a teacher to guide you and tell you where you are making mistakes. I keep second-guessing myself and having to restart exercises from the beginning to perfect them. The grammar is easier to grasp than english's grammar though." She says with a small nod.
"...The fist and the sword are an apple and an orange, rarely they fight, as it is rarely a good idea to engage in a fight with an armed opponent while unarmed. It is one thing to disarm someone with a knife, a trained sword-wielder has the advantage of reach and a sharpened blade. Being proud of your hand-to-hand combat is only natural, but please, do not hold a viewpoint such as that. I would not like to see you get hurt or worse because you engaged in combat with an armed opponent while unarmed. Even the best-trained person can be heavily injured if an accident should to happen. There are many tactics you can use against a kendo user that you cannot use against a real blade, for instance. You could stop my blade with your hand, but a real sword could deeply cut your hand, and any wound is enough to cause shock." Suzuki takes a soft breath, before closing her eyes. "..Still, your skill with hand-to-hand combat is very admirable and I look forward to our match. I simply worry for you if you hold views such as that. ..." She pauses, frowning a bit. "Ah, I apologize, I forget that encountering a real sword is unlikely, my family takes pride in... theirs...?" She pauses, looking between Mamoru and Hannah. Oh crap. Was one of those 'oddities' happening right now? They both seemed to be reacting strangely to the contact with each other. Perhaps Mamoru had been attacked by a monster and there was still some risidual effect?! ...Could she even do something about that?! Soon, Suzuki is keeping a very close eye on Mamoru and Hannah, not even being remotely secretive about it.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
When Mamoru catches Hannah, it's another thing that hurts, but it hurts for more than one reason.
Careful to touch only her clothes (Suzuki can see that, yes), extremely solicitous; every movement is choreographed like it's rote actions spun through a filter of everything hurting. His jaw's really tight as he lowers Hannah to the floor. "Hey-- hey. Breathe evenly. Here, put your feet up on the chair, elevate them. It's okay if you pass out, but let's try to keep you from doing so, all right?"
Questions about German, trying to steer Hannah away from him, trying to steer conversation away from him -- it's all thrown out the window now. This is his fault. He can't have normal friends. He shouldn't have friends. Even last night -- even feeling like maybe he was becoming friends with Miss White, like maybe his words and his actions matched enough for her to start trusting him -- he knows it could go very badly for Miss White and Scorn both, but it would have been so much worse so much faster with Nephrite, but he wouldn't have been risking--
"Are you sure you should be risking so much? You have your own search..."
He should go back to keeping to himself. It's safer and more efficient that way.
"I may not have found the Maboroshi no Ginzuishou, but I certainly found something interesting! Sailor Moon, I'll be certain to look out for you..."
But he can't, now.
Grimly, Mamoru's blue eyes look up and focus on Suzuki. "Would you please get her a glass of water? She might need one of those painkillers, too. I'm sorry this has become so eventful."
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
One non-Mamoru-tending hand raises as Suzuki is pounding at the door of her previous statement!
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down Suzu-chan! A joke, a joke! I swear! There is bravery, and then there is stupidity! Besides, like you said, who the heck carries around a sword? I mean, yeah, I know this is not Kentucky and you cannot exactly go to your nearest gun store, but any real trouble I would not be surprised if they pulled out a twenty-two on me! No fist-fighting gun-or-swords wielding idio..." THUNK.
Boris is over almost as soon as Mamoru is putting her down gently. The dog looks to be trying to...grab her leg-cuffs and elevate her feet? The big old fluffy woofer is one heck of a smart dog it seems like. If one actually looks, there's an odd flash of concern and terror in the dog's eyes. Boris whines, leaning in to lick at his owner's cheek.
Inwardly, Boris has to resist the urge to leap over and tear out Mamoru's throat. Already, the husky Familiar blames him.
"'m...okay..." Mutters Hannah, very, very slowly coming back to life. There's a flash of white hair, and then those eyes re-focus, a little gasp.
Then she just starts mumbling, a vague description of her life back in Kentucky: visiting the family farm, cow tipping, misadventures with pellet guns, and so many other childhood memories that are dredged up in the face of that odd, shocking memory she's calming down from. She /definitely/ needs water at this point.
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
Mamoru wasn't touching Hannah's flesh directly. Fascinating. She began to think to herself, beginning to examine the possibilities, as who was the one who it was potentially unsafe to touch, and who had caused that mutual feeling between them. Mamoru seemed less out of it, so likely he was the source, but it was also possible that he wasn't. Hannah was unconscious, and Mamoru was conscious. She trusted both of them.
"It's alright. I'm used to eventful. Eventfulness seems to surround our schools. I'm beginning to wonder if one of those oddities is happening." Suzuki says, as she calmly makes her way over to the kitchen to grab a glass of water, as well as taking hold of a painkiller. She was thinking, maybe she needed to take a chance here, maybe she could help? But Hannah was coming to her senses again, and she began to focus again. No, telling them might just alienate her only friends. That would be the worst thing to happen to her!
...Did that make her selfish?
Soon, she was back with the water and the painkillers, gently placing the painkiller in Hannah's hand, and then holding the water to her lips. She very purposefully makes sure to touch Hannah, to test who was most likely the source of whatever was making Mamoru avoid touching her skin. Hmm. "It's alright, you'll be fine, you just must have been studying too hard, or maybe took a hit while in practice earlier." She says, rationalizing it in a way she thought was making more sense. A hand reaches for Boris, moving to attempt to soothingly stroke her fingers along his fur. "It's okay, Boris, she's alright. See? She's coming around, though a bit delirious it seems." She says softly, looking towards Hannah's face. Why was she talking about 'ken-tuck-ee' and something about cows and farms and ... pellet guns? How strange. This must be one of those american things. "Just rest, Hannah... shhh."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Damn," says Mamoru softly, blowing his hair up out of his eyes with a short, sharp little puff of breath. When Suzuki comes back over, he's careful not to touch her, either, not to come into accidental contact. He sits back on his heels, watching Boris for a second, then looks back to Hannah and Suzu, and he starts to reach up to rub the back of his neck and is reminded painfully why he shouldn't stretch that way right now.
He sounds really apologetic. "Maybe you should help her get to bed. I'll find Sato-san and we'll get out of the way, we shouldn't be here if she's out of it. If she comes around before you leave, Natsume-san, please give her my apologies? Her hosting skills are superb." Creakily he gets to his feet and starts gathering his things-- he doesn't offer to help move Hannah, but they all know he's injured.
- Hannah Sharpe has posed:
Boris' eyes never leave Mamoru as he starts out the door. There's even a little growl from the big doggie. Ominous, almost! But eventually Suzu manages to soothe the grumpy dog down.
But contact with the girl doesn't seem to do anything on Suzuki's end. Eventually, Hannah seems to come around...sort of. She downs the painkiller, which takes effect, but leaves her a little loopy. Thankfully Suzuki is a tall specimen of a girl and so she has no issues leaning on her.
"N...not your fault, Chiba-san. Sorry." She mutters. Then she's off to bed, finally collapsing in it.
Boris is right there, curling up against her, head on her chest and peering with concerned doggie eyes.
Just as Suzuki's about to leave the room, there's a weak chuckle.
"...Is that what color is like?" She faintly whispers to herself.
- Suzuki Natsume has posed:
"Mmm." Suzuki says, looking up towards Mamoru as he stands, ever-so-careful not to touch her. She gives a soft exhale, shaking her head. "Possibly, however, you should also take another painkiller or two with you to help you through the evening." Suzuki says, setting the bottle of painkillers on the table. She wasn't sure what was up with him, but letting him have more painkillers couldn't hurt, so long as he didn't overdo it. "Rest well, Chiba-san."
Suzuki then turns her focus on Boris and Hannah. She carefully helps her down the painkiller and drink, before slowly standing and helping her to bed. She'd not even have had to be asked, she would have done it anyway. "Call me if you need anything. I will stay up late tonight and attempt to sleep lightly." Suzuki says, carefully helping tuck Hannah into bed.
After doing that, she would carefully ensure that everything was put back exactly how it belonged, so that there was no confusion or tripping for Hannah when she woke up. Because that's just the polite thing to do in a blind person's home. That and Suzuki is excessively helpful that way. "Boris, take good care of her. I'll bring Kuzu around to play sometime." She says, carefully gathering her bags and beginning to take her leave. She even made sure to turn the lock on Hannah's doorknob before she closed it, so that things were properly secure! ... And then she was on her way home, beginning to debate how to handle talking to Mamoru about it. Maybe she'd do the most direct way. Maybe she'll hunt down his home address and visit him as Storm Knight. See if Verdrehen Sturm detected any sort of spell or anything on him. Yes. That might work! ... .... ....
...If she understood Verdrehen Sturm. Curses.
