Profile

Miku Kohinata is mostly known for being inseparable from her best friend Hibiki. Given how they act in public, many might mistake them for being romantically involved with one another. Whether that is true or not remains a mystery even to Miku. But in addition to her affection for Hibiki, Miku is also a talented musician, and an impressive athlete. Someday, she would like to become a professional composer, or to play in a world renowned symphony. But for today, Miku is focusing on learning everything she can about combatting the Noise and other magical troubles, so that Hibiki never has to fight alone.

Relationships

Hibiki Tachibana 

Miku's relationship with Hibiki is complicated; however, except for a brief fight, it has been steadfast for as long as either girl can remember. Anyone who spends more than five seconds with the girls will realize that they are in love--but whether that love is platonic, romantic, or something in between remains unclear even to Miku. They share a bed, they help one another bathe and dress, they openly hold hands in public, and they have been inseparable since childhood.

Recently, their relationship suffered a relatively major setback when Hibiki felt compelled to lie to Miku for several months about her involvement in Section 2 and fighting against the Noise. When the truth came out, Miku was outwardly very angry with Hibiki for lying and keeping secrets. Miku was so distraught she tried to end their friendship. But the truth is, Miku was scared for her friend, and felt helpless to defend her from the horrors of the world. A visit to the okonamiyaki lady reminded her that her love for Hibiki runs deeper than anything else in her life, and she has begged her friend's forgiveness. Thankfully, that affection is reciprocated, and Hibiki forgave her readily.

Miku will stop at nothing to see Hibiki safe and happy--even at the cost of her own happiness and health.

Tsubasa Kazanari 

When she was a little younger, Miku was a big fan of Tsubasa and Kanade's Zwei Wing. Although she has moved on since Kanade's death, she still enjoys the music, and buys the MP3s online whenever Tsubasa releases something new. In Miku's mind, Tsubasa and Kanade shared a relationship similar to her own with Hibiki, and she can't imagine a world without Hibiki in it. She feels an incredible amount of empathy for her mental image of what Tsubasa must be like, and is uncertain how to treat to the girl. The conflict between her sense that Tsubasa is an idol, and her sense that Tsubasa requires a support structure are difficult for Miku to work through, but ultimately Miku just wants to be helpful.
