Leather Jacket, tie-dye hair, loud music... Signs of a delinquent in the making that wants nothing to do with normal respectable life right? Nope! Junpei might be all about loud music and fun, but he will literally drop the noise at a moment's notice if it's bumming everyone else out, or he needs to act more conservatively. His heart is a drumbeat just a little different than what his family wants, but the rest of him feels obligated to try playing things their way. He doesn't angst about this conflict and instead tries using both halves of his life to play off the other. That is the core of what he is, someone that will try finding consensus. Someone that when the group can't agree on where to eat will suggest picking up a little of each from the store and invading one of their homes to try a bit of everything.

Background

What is there to say? Junepei is a middle child that had the good fortune of both younger and older siblings clumping together rather than personality clashes driving them apart. Sure there's squabbles, especially his chafing at his parents trying to get him to look at traditional jobs. He doesn't want a desk job. He doesn't want a job where every waking hour is spent selling his soul to some company that might drop him no matter his performance because of a stupid spreadsheet and quarterly projection.

Yet he loves his family and wants them to feel like he isn't going to end up as some kind of delinquent. Still. They aren't unmindful of his dreams and even if they see no future in it they want him to follow his dreams in case they're wrong. In turn he's started trying to do things to make himself more likely to get hired, or at least look for a compromise. He loves his family and doesn't want them to worry, or worse, hurt them. So while he will rock out and jam, he is still the dutiful son and regrets none of it.

Personality

The most important thing to understand about Junpei is that he considers people to be essentially good at heart. Sure he understands a lot of not nice people exist, he isn't so sheltered to not. It's just that he believes unless pushed a person's default state is altruism and will try encouraging that in others. After all even if a one man band is possible it isn't easy, and it's always better to have a crowd working together rather than a mob at each other's throats.

He is very social. He can get along fine alone, but he is best when he has an audience. It isn't their approval he wants so much as their joy at being together.

The flipside of that is deep down he has a fear of putting everything he has out there and the crowd walking away. To give all and to not just get nothing in return but also to be treated like he isn't there. It is a fear that is deep down where he hasn't had to truly face it, but it still exists. And it will terrify him when he has to face it no matter how brave the face.

Yet as nonviolent as he is, Junpei sees people getting stepped on as just plain not cool. Famous people stepping on 'the little people,' traditional bullies, monsters that bend the mind into bad places. It doesn't matter. All of 'em need to be reminded everyone is someone important, and if they don't stop he's going to feed them their teeth... Well, metaphorically speaking. He's still very peaceful by nature so it just might be shaming them publicly with their actions, or stepping between an upperclassman shaking down a younger student and taking the hits until an adult can step in.

Hobbies and pastimes

While music is the major thing in Junpei's life it isn't the only thing. He likes cycling, hiking, basically being outdoors and where fresh air is. Considering how often he can spend holed up trying to tweak this or that melody, or lyric getting out is his way of trying to keep from being a hermit when not trying to be on stage entertainment.

The thing about music is at least for rock you also have sound mixing, stage setup, possible electrical issues, and Junpei tries learning about as much of the rest as he can. He isn't more than a hobbiest with a soldering gun, but even his basic knowledge has helped patch a few things in the past. His prop design is also ... Very amateurish, but we all start somewhere, and even if he never gets good at designing visuals he sees it all as understanding what the support crew has to do to make the stage show good. Knowing what others go through helps make sure you aren't demanding too much from them.

Oh! Junpie loves Taiko, as in he will be in the school's group. If it doesn't exist he will try making a group. Sure the Guitar is sleek modern and expressive but Taiko is... Primal. It is deep and resonate and calls to his heart as a way to feel connected to his culture and people. Plus it's a great workout!

Family Friends and Enemies

• Suzuki Natsume: Doesn't know her that well outside of occasionally seeing her in the halls around school.

• Yuki Minami: Seen now and again when picking groceries up, but more recently has taken an interest in trying to get to know better. Currently trying to convince her he isn't some kind of weird musical hobo, and probably failing.

• Hannah Sharpe: Doesn't really know her that well, but she seems interesting. Also has a fluffy dog! Dogs are cool.
